We are losing the power of celebration. Instead of celebrating we seek to be amused or entertained. Celebration is an active state, an act of expressing reverence or appreciation. To be entertained is a passive state--it is to receive pleasure afforded by an amusing act or a spectacle.... Celebration is a confrontation, giving attention to the transcendent meaning of one's actions. When in darkness we look for light, today as we celebrate Deepawali, the Festival of Lights , it gives us hope to fight darkness in shape of negativity, hatred, ego and celebrate life . Similarly when we celebrate Bandi Chhor divas we symbolise liberty and freedom both internally and externally. Let’s celebrate life by lighting others path as this way we will light our own path also , live free with gratitude.

Sikh prayer books return to the British military after 100 years

Daily prayer books were issued to Sikh military personnel in the British forces for the first time in a century.
Major Daljinder Singh Virdee is in the British Army and has spent two years campaigning for the change.
The prayer books, called Nitnem Gutkas, were issued by the UK Defence Sikh Network at a ceremony in London.
The Ministry of Defence hopes to "directly support Sikhs practice a key component of their faith".
The Nitnem Gutkas have been printed in three languages in durable and waterproof material to withstand the rigors of military life.

The British Army Gutka has a camouflage cover, and the Royal Navy and RAF Gutka have a navy blue cover.

Maj. Dal Singh Virdee said he uses his Nitnem Gutka three times a day.
"The Army has been providing Christian religious texts for many years and I saw the opportunity there to open the door for the Sikh faith to provide Sikh texts," he said.
