EVACUATION OF PREGNANT WOMAN AMID HEAVY SNOWFALL AND BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS

Indian Army assisted in evacuation of a pregnant woman amidst heavy snowfall in Kawnar village of Vilgam Battalion Area.

At 1930Hr Kakrosa Army Camp received a distress call from the family members of Sameera Begum W/O Javid Ahmed Sheikh, R/O Sheikh Moh, Kawnar Village for an urgent rescue and medical evacuation of a pregnant lady who was in critical condition.

Due to heavy snowfall, road to village, for most part, was blocked and a part very slippery. Realising the criticality of the situation, rescue team of 15 RR along with Nursing Assistant from Kakrosa COB immediately responded to distress call and despite heavy snow and inclement weather conditions evacuated the patient safely to PHC, Vilgam.

The family and doctors expressed their gratitude to the Army for their swift action and timely assistance as it saved the life of the woman.

Says association does not require guidance from any self-styled civil society member

Urges authorities to not entertain facebook journalist roaming in town

Handwara, Jan 27: The Handwara Media Association (HMA) held a meeting on Friday to discuss the functioning of HMA and various issues related to the Handwara Media Association. The meeting was presided by Association's President Aatif Qayoom and joined by its Patron, Chairman, Vice President and the maximum number of members.

During the meeting it came to fore that some selfstyled/Facebook journalists were roaming around Handwara and visiting various government offices on behalf of the Media Association of Handwara.

On this occasion, the president of the association requested administration to not entertain any Facebook journalist on behalf of HMA.

He also stated that a list of media personnel will be made public in the coming days so officers can identify the journalists associated with the HMA.

It was also discussed during the meeting that some members of self-styled civil society were raising questions about the credibility of the Handwara Media Association, which is unacceptable, and that the association will deal with such people legally.

The vice president Bhat Shameem on the occasion said that some people were not happy with the development of Handwara and they want to get credit for all the developmental works for their personal benefits.

On this occasion, the general secretary also urged the journalist to work for Handwara's development and ignore those who are unhappy with the town's peace and development.

Secretary Syed Kabir Geelani said that HMA happens to be a non-political organisation but certain people associated with different political parties were helbent to demean the association for their petty gains.

*Girl dies, 10 injured in Rafiabad road accident


Baramulla, Dec 21 (KNS): A 17-year-old girl died while at least ten other sustained injuries in a major road accident in Rafiabad area of Baramulla district on Wednesday afternoon, officials said here.

An official told the Kashmir News Service (KNS), that three vehicles collided and plunged into a Nallah in Rafiabad area today afternoon.

He said soon after the incident, a rescue operation was launched and the 11 injured were taken to the district hospital Baramulla, where one girl identified as Mehak Mohidin resident of Handwara succumbed to her injuries.

He said among ten injured persons, condition of four is said to be critical.

The official said police team has reached to the spot and are ascertaining the details. (KNS)

Awoora boy found unconscious, police start investigations

Kupwara: A 12-year-old boy Munsif Gaffar Khan of Awoora Kupwara was found in an unconscious in local Panchayat house in the village. He was shifted to Kupwara hospital for treatment. Parents said that the minor boy has been targeted in the past also in wake of a land dispute between the families and some locals also said that the boy has been injured and was found tied with ropes near Panchayat house. A cloth was put in the boy's mouth so that he does not cry, locals said. The boy was immediately shifted to Kupwara hospital where he is undergoing treatment. Police has started investigations and assured that people involved in the crime would be punished.
