PS Kralgund busted a racket involved in immoral trafficking and arrested five persons.

Today on April 25, 2023, information was received from reliable sources about a racket of immoral activities operating from the house of an individual in Reshipora. Accordingly, a search party conducted a raid in the house of Shabir Ahmad War, S/o Ghulam Ahmad War, R/o Reshipora, where a s*x racket was busted.

Five persons were arrested from the spot, including the house owner and his wife, one s*x worker and two customers. Cash amounting to Rs 47,800/- was also recovered from the spot.

The details of the arrested persons are:
1. Rayees Ah Lone, s/o Khazir Mohd Lone, R/o Dangerpora, Rafiabad.
2. Bilal Ahmad Sheikh, s/o Abdul Rehman Sheikh, R/o Binner, Baramulla.
3. A female s*x worker (name withheld).
4. Shabir Ahmad War, s/o Gh Ahmad War, r/o Rishipora Kralgund (house owner).
5. Wife of the houseowner (name withheld)

Gazanfar Sartaj Mir, the president of YOUTH CIVIL SOCIETY KASHMIR and a famous social activist from HANDWARA.

Gazanfar Sartaj Mir hails from North kashmir's Handwara town of Kupwara district.

*Meet youngest Calligraphy Writer Safiya Zahoor Khawaja From Kralgund Handwara*

Handwara, June 15 : Kashmir, which is often referred to as the land of Sufi saints, has always been famous for its rich culture and heritage and calligraphy is one such art, which has become quite popular in the valley over the past few years as it has been drawing the attention of young artists like safiya zahoor khawaja.

For artists like safiya zahoor, 16, the values brought in by the scholars, saints hold great importance in the lives of the Kashmiri people, and through calligraphy, they want to portray their imagination and Kashmiri culture to the world.

According to the Archeological Survey of India, calligraphy was introduced to Kashmir by the scholar saint Sharaf-ud-Din Bulbul in the fourteenth century A.D. and since this art is being explored by the young artist like Nida in the own different ways.

"I have been doing calligraphy and this creative work for over a month now and I have been doing this all by myself as I have not done any training, or I have not learnt it from anyone. Calligraphy is the art of producing decorative handwriting or lettering with a brush or a pen. It's a kind of music not for the ears but for the eyes as well," safiya says while talking with correspondent.

She says calligraphy is the most intimate, private and spontaneous expressive means like a fingerprint or voice and it's unique for every person.

Safiya, who does her calligraphy mostly in Arabic and English, says her hobby grew deeper.

"I came to know about the art while I saw most people doing artwork in the recent days and I also started doing calligraphy and my hobby of doing this grew deeper. Actually, people should do what they love."

Safiya, who hails from the Kralgund area of North Kashmir's Handwara, She believes that it is the easiest way to be happy while you are holding your pen or a brush in your hand.

"You are not finding happiness in your art rather you are creating your happiness out of it and one should believe that practice makes a man perfect. I am not an artist actually, but I am just trying to learn calligraphy and over a month, I have been doing quite well in this art.

Safiya says though she wants to be a doctor or a professor, she will continue to this artwork as she finds happiness in this creative work.

Like many new aspiring artists, who are emerging on different social media sites to display their talent and attract people to their artwork, this youngest artist is no exception. To expand her clientele, Safiya has started her account Instagram by the name “ ”.

*J-K: Social activist Waqar H Bhatti held for 'hurting religious sentiments' through his tweet*

Jammu, May 27: Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday arrested social activist Waqar H Bhatti for allegedly hurting religious sentiments with his 'shivling' tweet which caused social media outrage.

Following his tweet, which was later deleted, netizens demanded his immediate arrest.

"FIR was registered following his tweet, which hurt religious sentiments," a senior police officer told PTI.

Bhatti was later arrested, he said.

Facing a backlash on social media, Bhatti had sought to clarify his tweet with another tweet saying, "I did not target any religion and why should I target when the matter is in court." A few days ago, Delhi University Associate Professor Ratan Lal was arrested for his alleged objectionable social media post on claims of a 'Shivling' at the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi. He was granted bail a day later.

On May 16, a local court in Varanasi directed the district administration to seal a spot in the Gyanvapi Masjid complex after counsels representing the Hindu petitioners claimed that a Shivling was found during a court-mandated videography survey.

A mosque management committee spokesperson disputed the claim, telling a television channel that the object was part of a "fountain".

A day later, the top court directed the district magistrate of Varanasi to ensure the protection of an area inside the Gyanvapi-Shringar Gauri complex where a 'Shivling' was said to have been found and allowed Muslims to offer 'namaz' and perform "religious observances".–(PTI)

Handwara, May 18: In order to provide counselling and guidance to the students of Kupwara and Baramulla districts about various higher education options available in the leading colleges across India, Education department, Indian Army and Emaar Group of Counselling today organized an Education Festival at Government Higher Secondary School, Handwara in Kupwara district.

The Chairman, District Development Council (DDC), Irfan Sultan Panditpori was the Chief Guest at the occasion while Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir was the Guest of Honour.

Sector Commander, 7 Sector, Additional Deputy Commissioner , Handwara, DDC Members, BDC Chairpersons, Heads of various Consultancies, Deputy CEO, concerned officers and a large number of students representing Kupwara and Baramulla districts participated in the festival.

Addressing the gathering, the Chairman DDC Council expressed his gratitude to the organizers for conducting such a huge student counselling programme in the district. He stressed the need for holding such more festivals so that students of this border district get benefitted. He urged upon the student community to take advantage of this programme and get maximum benefits from it.

Deputy Commissioner in his address advised students to focus on education and exploit the avenues of present day world. He said education is the only tool, with which one can achieve highest goals of life.

Terming conduct of such education festival as first step towards success, the DC said that right information at right time is prerequisite for achieving any success. He urged upon the students to take advantage of such avenues and decide their future goals according to their interest and attitude and wished them touch highest levels of success in the subjects they choose. He said counselling and guidance at right time is most important thing, students should take care of. He encouraged the students by reciting the famous couplet "Sitaroon k aagay Jahan Oor B han".

The Deputy Commissioner also stressed upon the Principal of the Higher Secondary School to take education/ school activities most seriously. He asked him to direct teaching staff to attend school with preparation of classes so that students could get due interest and benefits. He directed him to conduct sports and extra curricular activities and focus on performance and learning outcomes.
Other speakers also addressed the gathering.

Earlier, the students were provided counselling and guidance by various subject matter specialists for choosing their subjects according to their merit. Over 17 colleges from Punjab, Chandigarh, and Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, etc Participated in the festival and guided the youth to select the right courses to achieve their dreams.

Later, the certificates and mementos were provided to the students and the best performing counsellors and other dignitaries.

Langate, March 3: A robber chop off a woman's ear lobes to steal her gold valuables in yaarou village area of north Kashmir's kupwara district, officials said thursday.

The incident occurred at Yaroo Handwara village of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday evening.

Local sources told news agency correspondent that a woman in her cowshed was attacked by two unknown persons possibly robbers, drug addicts and snatched her golden ear rings.

The assailants fled away from the spot while the woman in unconscious state was shifted to hospital.

A doctor at Sub District Hospital Langate confirmed that the woman is undergoing treatment. He identified the 40 year old victim as Aisha Begum wife of Irshad Ahmed Mir, a resident of Yaroo village of Handwara.

Meanwhile locals have approached police station and demanded arrest of culprits.
