*Education festival held at Handwara*
*Large number of students participated,*

Handwara, May 18: In order to provide counselling and guidance to the students of Kupwara and Baramulla districts about various higher education options available in the leading colleges across India, Education department, Indian Army and Emaar Group of Counselling today organized an Education Festival at Government Higher Secondary School, Handwara in Kupwara district.
The Chairman, District Development Council (DDC), Irfan Sultan Panditpori was the Chief Guest at the occasion while Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir was the Guest of Honour.
Sector Commander, 7 Sector, Additional Deputy Commissioner , Handwara, DDC Members, BDC Chairpersons, Heads of various Consultancies, Deputy CEO, concerned officers and a large number of students representing Kupwara and Baramulla districts participated in the festival.
Addressing the gathering, the Chairman DDC Council expressed his gratitude to the organizers for conducting such a huge student counselling programme in the district. He stressed the need for holding such more festivals so that students of this border district get benefitted. He urged upon the student community to take advantage of this programme and get maximum benefits from it.
Deputy Commissioner in his address advised students to focus on education and exploit the avenues of present day world. He said education is the only tool, with which one can achieve highest goals of life.
Terming conduct of such education festival as first step towards success, the DC said that right information at right time is prerequisite for achieving any success. He urged upon the students to take advantage of such avenues and decide their future goals according to their interest and attitude and wished them touch highest levels of success in the subjects they choose. He said counselling and guidance at right time is most important thing, students should take care of. He encouraged the students by reciting the famous couplet "Sitaroon k aagay Jahan Oor B han".
The Deputy Commissioner also stressed upon the Principal of the Higher Secondary School to take education/ school activities most seriously. He asked him to direct teaching staff to attend school with preparation of classes so that students could get due interest and benefits. He directed him to conduct sports and extra curricular activities and focus on performance and learning outcomes.
Other speakers also addressed the gathering.
Earlier, the students were provided counselling and guidance by various subject matter specialists for choosing their subjects according to their merit. Over 17 colleges from Punjab, Chandigarh, and Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, etc Participated in the festival and guided the youth to select the right courses to achieve their dreams.
Later, the certificates and mementos were provided to the students and the best performing counsellors and other dignitaries.
