-Rabi Thakur is not just one of the greatest poet, novelist and liteurate but he resembles an ocean of emotions to us. On this propitious occasion of his birth anniversary, Tamalika Ponda Seth Hall of Residence of HIT commemorated this say beautifully with a soulful cultural event under the hostel premises on the 8th of May.

As the soothing vibes of 'Rabindra Jayanti' can be felt in the morning air, the cultural program initiated in the honour of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore by the boarders of the hostel. The event kickstarted with a soulful speech by Prof. Keka Rana(Hostel Superintendent) followed by a bunch of cultural activities including singing, dancing, recitation and speech. The participants along with the warden paid a tribute to Rabi Thakur through candle lightning and garland offering. The program came to an end with a memorable group photpshoot session.

Team CSI HIT SB successfully conducted its comprehensive four-day workshop on 'Backend Development with PHP and MySQL' from April 12th to April 17th in the CCF Lab. The workshop aimed to equip students with essential skills in backend development using PHP and MySQL.

The final day of the workshop commenced with an informative session on CRUD operation in MySQL. To enhance the engagement, students were tasked with two hands-on projects. The first project tasked them to build a login page with name, email, password, and phone number updation and deletion using MySQL Queries and the second project involved the creation of a database showing details of all types of cars.

The chess club of HIT organized the 'Intra College Chess Tournament' on the morning of 17th March at the EE dept.

The event was graced by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Sandip Jana (EE dept.) explained the rules and regulations of the tournament to the students. It was a massive participation of 200 students among which only 118 participants got to qualify for the next rounds. The second half began with the following three rounds where the participants were enthusiastically showcasing their skills. The event came to a close with the distribution of prizes to the top ten performers among which the top three were:
1st- Deepak Kumar Prabhat
2nd- Sourav Thakur
3rd- Arijit Dutta
The top three female players were also appreciated namely:
1st- Shiwangi
2nd- Aditi Bera
3rd- Dishari Saha
Trophies were distributed to the winners by Prof. (Dr.) Sandip Jana and Miss. Madhumita Batul (Sports Officer, HIT)

Alumins are like the priceless gems of an old treasure and an inspiration to the upcoming generations. Owing to that, Team HITian Inside in collab with the Official Alumni Association of HIT joined hands with one of our most honourable alumni Prof. (Dr.) Romit Roy Chowdhury (a 2000 passout) and gathered some valuable insights.

The Alumni Association of HIT mends the bridge between all the alumnis of our college and the current students by establishing a healthy and meaningful relation. The ACM sigma rockstar and former IEEE member shared his experiences in college, twists and turns of his careers with our host Ms. Mrinmoyee Sil. The take home motivations we collected from Prof. (Dr.) Romit Roy were really beneficial for the rising stars.

An alumni seminar was organized in the afternoon from noon in the S.N Bose Auditorium.

An interactive seminar was conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Romit Roy Chowdhury who is the alumni of HIT in the year 2000. He completed his MS and Ph.D. at UIUC in 2006 and has been a member of IEEE since 2018. He is also an award winner of the ACM Sigmobile Rockstar Award, UIUC Distinguished Alumni Award, Google Research Award, etc. He enlightened the students with the knowledge of 'Research and career'. He gave an insight about wireless networking, Mobile computing, and Signal Processing. The seminar was a pivotal platform for students to enrich their academic journey and foster personal growth.

Team HITian Inside encourages the students to arrange more such alumni seminars for exposure to research and more such opportunities.

The propitious evening of 11th March saw the amazing inauguration ceremony of the Wall magazine of Tamalika Ponda Seth Hall of Residence namely 'Allure 2k24' based on the theme of 'Digital Life'. The charming event was held under the premises of TPS Girls Hostel from 8 p.m. onwards and organized by its borders.

The inauguration ceremony kick started with the felicitation of all the honorable guests attending the event, Prof. (Dr.) Subrata Mandal(Principal, HIT), Rajiv Dubey (Dean, HIT), and all the respected superintendents of the respective hostels. The ambiance was set to magical with a beautiful inaugural Saraswati Vandana followed by the candle-lighting ceremony in front of the Late Tamalika Ponda Seth. The ribbon around the magazine was cut by Principal Sir leading him to appreciate the tireless efforts of the ones who crafted it. The event proceeded with a bunch of charming performances offered by the boarders of the hostel comprising guitar, dance drama, and singing performances that added extra stars to the event. The prize distribution of two events namely 'Brush and Strokes' and 'Ruffling Shuttle' that was held previously commenced on that day. The inaugural ceremony came to an end with a memorable photoshoot session and food packet distribution.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, spiritual reflection, and increased devotion. People fast during Ramadan as an act of devotion, self-discipline, and a way to spiritually cleanse themselves and strengthen their relationship with god.

Every year, as the crescent moon heralds the blessed month of Ramadan, Muslims around the world eagerly await the opportunity to deepen their connection with God through the practice of fasting- the fourth of five foundational pillars of Islam.

Suhoor or Sehri, the pre-dawn meal before fasting, is crucial for those observing Ramadan. Iftar occurs at sunset, marking the end of the fasting day during Ramadan People usually consume food like dates, soup, shermal and many more after the long fast.

In this holy month of Ramadan, Team HITian Inside wishes everyone a healthy and nourished month as we pray together.

On the propitious day of 7th March, the S.N.Bose Convention Centre of HIT saw the great commencement of the 4th International Conference on Engineering Mathematics and Computing (ICEMC 2024).

The 3-Day-long conference initiated with a beautiful inaugural session that was enough to set a soulful ambiance. Honourable faculties, professors, and invited speakers from around the world assembled at the auditorium for a meaningful session. The technical session continued in 2 halves comprising refreshing tea breaks. There was also an arrangement of charming cultural programs in the evening that captured both the eyes and the hearts of the spectators.

On the 6th of March, the ME club in collaboration with Ardent Computech Pvt. Ltd., organized the CNC(Computer Numerical Control) workshop.

The 1-Day workshop was initiated with an introductory session about the basics of machine shine and AutoCAD demonstrations followed by a detailed insight into their future aspects and career scopes. The exclusive coordination of the trainer faculties of Ardent, Arpan Chakraborty, Vijay Naskar, Suman Kalyan Das, and their marketing head, Ranit Mishra enlightened the event. The workshop came to an end with a doubt-clearing session for the learners.

The highly anticipated final day of the 5 day-long workshop titled 'Master the Art of Front-End Web Development', organised by CSI HIT SB took place on 1st March in Room no. -9001, ground floor, CSE Dept.

The last day of the workshop mainly focused on the quiz based on the project built using the front-end web dev on Day 4, where participants were taught how to add the project to their GitHub profile. The project was built on the knowledge of HTML, CSS with animations, flexbox and JavaScript with Dom Manipulation taught on Day 3.

The 5 day-long event concluded with Prof. (Dr.) Subhankar Joardar (HOD, CSE Dept) and the honourable faculty of the CSE department, Mr. Subhabrata Burman addressed the participants and felicitated the winners of the quiz along with the distribution of participation certificates to everyone. The quiz competition winners were as follows:-

The evening of 29th February saw the inauguration of the wall magazine 'Insperia' from 8 p.m. onwards in Matangini Hall of Residence.

The event started with drawing up the curtains of the wall magazine 'Insperia' on the topic 'Women's health and hygiene'.The event proceeded with highlighting the importance of women's health, food habits, and hygiene. The program was graced by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Rajiv Dubey(Dean, HIT), Prof. (Dr.) Palash Pal, Prof. (Dr.) Manas Sarkar, Prof. (Dr.) Mrinmoy Sen and Prof. (Dr.) Jayeeta Majumdar. After that, the winners of the photography competition of Matangini Hostel were presented with trophies and certificates as a token of appreciation.

The afternoon of 29th February saw the prize distribution of 'MECHNOVATE 2k23' in room no. 2003 in the Mechanical Engineering Department.

The event began with an inaugural speech by the event organisers followed by the commencement of prize distribution of various enthralling events one after another in the queue. The gracious presence of Prof. (Dr.) Goutam Kr. Bose (HOD of ME Dept) enlightened the day. The event consisted of the categories like "Art Biz, Creative writing, Meaningful assembly, B-plan, Shatranj, Click" which captured the essence of creativity in every sense. The prizes were given to the top three winners by Prof. (Dr.) Bikash Byapari.

On the auspicious occasion of World NGO Day Team Samarpan organised an exclusive event called 'Creatzing 2k24' on the propitious afternoon of 26th February at the Annex building.

As the clock struck 4 in the afternoon, the premises of the annex building filled with the chirping of the little munchkins. The event was initiated with the felicitation of the esteemed guests including the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Subrata Mondal and all other respected faculties came and a motivational speech by the Principal. It continued with two beautiful speeches followed by a drawing and essay competition for the children. The cultural part of 'Creatzing 2k24' was truly a mesmerizing one where the students of Samarpan displayed their unique talents with their singing, recitation, dancing performances, and model making. The event concluded with food packet distribution and prize distribution of all the domains.

The prize distribution for NAVROOPAM 4.0, organized by Team HITian Inside took place in room no. 9104 from 5 p.m. onwards.

The evening began with honoring our respected faculties including Prof. (Dr.) Rajiv Dubey(Dean, HIT) and other faculty members of the CSE Department, distributed the trophies and certificates to the winners. The deserving participants were chosen from each category (Photography, Artwork, Creative Writing, Pujo Vlogs) based on the highest number of likes on their posts. Although every participant showed exemplary skills, the top three outshined the rest with their creativity and brilliance. The event was a total success which not only recognized the diversified talents of the students but also left as an inspiration for the upcoming years.

The evening of 27th February began with an event named 'Oritecture' organized by CivilEpoch from 3 p.m. onwards in room no. 6201 and 6202.

The event was all about making a model that is efficient to survive extreme environmental conditions. As the name suggests, "Origami infused with architecture" was the main aim of the event. The participants took part in a group of two where they prepared models with the help of biodegradable materials. The event was a perfect display of critical thinking and design-making.

Team HITian Inside appreciates CivilEpoch for organizing such events which helps the students to develop an environment-friendly approach.

On the 26th of February, CSI HIT SB commenced its 6-day long workshop titled 'Master the Art of Frontend Web Development' in Room No. - 9001, ground floor, CSE Dept.

The event began with the introduction of HTML and basics of CSS including web styling and special effects by Kunal Rajnish (3rd year, CSE-CS Dept). The second half was mainly focused on elaborated CSS elements and an insight on the project, the participants will be working on. The introduction to Git and Github at the end of Day- 1 instilled an interest in coding and doubt-solving among the students. Day 1 of the workshop was a perfect start to the journey of Front-End Web Development.

On the fine afternoon of 26th February 2024, Team ChEA organised the event Chem Fable in room 3002 in the Chemical Engineering Department.

The event focused majorly on the freshers in the department to grow their interest in the core field and to give them an insight into the infinite world of chemical engineering. The event kickstarted with a brief discussion regarding the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineering followed by a wonderful session presented by the ChEA members. The session revolved around the discussion on arenas of various aspects of Chemical engineering and the career opportunities of it. An interesting quiz competition was also organized for further enrichment of their knowledge bank. Chem Fable came to an end with an immense motivational speech by Dr. Sunil Baran Kuila(HOD, Chemical) and a beautiful photoshoot session.

The final showdown of the Intra College Football Tournament between the Electrical Engineering Department and the Mechanical Engineering Department was a nail-biting affair. The game ended with the Electrical Engineering Department winning the game with a score of 1-0.

The players and fans of the Electrical Department celebrated their hard-fought conquest, while the Mechanical Engineering Department graciously exemplified the true essence of sportsmanship. It was a thrilling end to a competitive tournament, and the Electrical Engineering Department rightfully secured its place as the champion of the tournament.

"From kickoff to final whistle, it was a battle of wills, a test of mettle." The much-awaited football final between teams ME and EE caught the eye of everyone and increased the tension to the extreme.

The match began with players exhibiting dynamic movements across the pitch. The P2 ground rose with excitement when the players were giving their best to score a goal. The first half ended with a score of 0-0 with both the teams giving off an equal competition to the opponent. The second half was initiated with enormous enthusiasm with EE taking the lead as Soumbit Santra(2nd year, EE) scored the goal, making a score of 1-0 and continuing with the dominance till the end emerging as victorious.

The S.N Bose Auditorium witnessed the celebration of International Mother Language Day also known as 'Bhasa Dibas' on the 21st of February.

The event began with the warm welcome of Dr. Lakshman Chandra Seth (Chairperson, ICARE), Dr. Ashish Lahiri (Secretary, ICARE), Dr.Subrata Mondal (Principal, HIT), Dr. Sparsita Ponda Seth(Chairperson, ICARE Cultural Academy) and Dr. Anjan Mishra (Registar, HIT), Mr. Sayantan Seth(Vice-Chairman, ICARE Haldia). The presence of important dignitaries from the Haldia Law College, Haldia Institute of Management, Global Institute of Technology, and Haldia Institute of Health Sciences, made this event a success.

The students as well as our respected faculty members filled the ambience with their captivating cultural presence through their charming performances including singing, dancing, and recitation. The chief guests delivered speeches highlighting the importance of preserving our 'Mother language' and inspiring the upcoming generations. The audience was mesmerized when Debadyuti Goswami from Haldia Law College played the notes of sitar. Curtains were drawn to the event with a recitation by Dr. Sparsita Ponda Seth, which infused everyone's heart with the rich heritage of the Bengali language.

With anticipation buzzing, the competition unfolded, each group vying for supremacy. Yet, as the music stopped and chairs disappeared beneath eager contestants, it was Team HITian Inside that emerged triumphant, claiming all three positions with sheer dominance. Their synchronized moves, unwavering focus, and unyielding determination left no doubt of their superiority. The winners were as follows:

The Accolade ceremony for the Annual Sports Meet 2K24 of HIT on the 20th and 21st of February was a celebration of the achievements of the young athletes who competed in various sports.

The 100-meter flat followed by the relay races kicked off with contestants going above and beyond to cross the finish line. Everyone who took part received praise for putting on an exciting display of quickness and dexterity. Every squad from the relay teams received recognition for their outstanding display of sportsmanship and unity. The shot put and javelin competitions tested the athletes' power and technique following the 800-meter flat race which tested the endurance and mental toughness. The events came to a close with the high jump and long jump, as the crowd was mesmerized by the grace and agility of the jumpers.

The Accolade ceremony concluded with a round of applause for all the winners and participants, who made the sports meet a memorable one, with their remarkable performances. The achievements of the students from various branches asserted their dominance in the sports categories, inspiring the upcoming years. The winners were honored with trophies, as the crowd cheered for the pursuit of camaraderie that unites us for the love of sports.

The javelin throw finals at the HIT Annual Sports Meet were a thrilling spectacle. The sun shone brightly on the athletics field as the competitors geared up to showcase their skills. The crowd was on the edge of their seat, cheering for their favorite athletes.

A palpable sense of tension was whirling in the air as the athletes were launching their javelins with all their might. The javelin flew through the air shaking the anticipation of the crowd in trajectory. The competition was fierce, with every athlete determined to be the best. A big round of applause echoed the ground with every successful throw setting the mood to be energetic.

Finally, after a nail-biting finish, the winner was declared. Among the girls, Anshika Kumari (CSE-DS) stood first, Manavi Kumari (SASH) second, and Aashika Kumari (SASH) third respectively. Boys stood SK MD Kaif (ME) first, Rajdeep Sinha (SASH) second, and Ananda Das (SASH) third respectively.

It was a day to remember for the entire HIT.
