Many Polling personnel have arrived from various Polling Stations with the conclusion of conducting polling for Lok Sabha Elections 2024 under 113-Haflong (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC), segment of 6-Diphu Parliamentary constituency.

Polling in Dima Hasao conducted peacefully: Estimated 73.30 % voters turn out
Haflong, 26thApril, 2024: Polling across 254 polling stations was conducted peacefully in Dima Hasaodistrict for Lok Sabha Election, 2024today. An estimated 73.30% voters peacefully exercised their voting rights in 254 polling stations during the second phase Lok Sabha Election.
Polling started on time by 7:00 A.M in all the polling stations smoothly throughout the day and ended by around 5 P:M. Voting percentage in 113Haflong (ST) LAC segment of 6-Diphu (ST) constituency began with 14% till 9:00 A.M. followed by 38% upto 11 A.M., 53.87% upto 1:00 P.M, 65.54% upto3:00 P.M and estimated upto 73.30 % by 5:00 P.M. The final polling percentage will derive once polling officials from the far flung polling stations report by tomorrow morning.
113-Haflong (ST) LAC segment of 6-Diphu (ST) constituency along with 108-Bokajan, 109-Howraghat, 110- Diphu, 111- Ronghang and 112-Amri under the Karbi Anglong district conducted poll as a part of the second phase for the Lok Sabha Election 2024.
It is to be noted that the voting percentage of Dima Hasao was 77.71% in242 polling stations during the last Lok Sabha election in 2019 where 16-Haflong (ST) LAC segment in Dima Hasao was a part of 3-Autonomous District along with 17 Bokajan, 18-Howraghat, 19- Diphu and 20-Baithalango under the Karbi Anglong district.

Alternative documents Voters can produce at the Polling Station

Haflong, 26th April 2024: Voting for Lok Sabha Election started at 7:00 A.M today, 26th April 2024 in 113-Haflong (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC) under 6-Diphu(ST) Parliamentary Constituency.
Voting will continue up to 5:00 P.M today.

When coming to vote, if the Voters fail to bring Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC), they can produce one of the following alternative documents at the Polling Station.

The list of documents in the absence of EPIC:-

Final Movement of polling officials for Lok Sabha MP Elections of 113-Haflong (ST) LAC under 6-Diphu (ST) Parliamentary Constituency today, 25th April 2024.
The polling officials including zonal magistrates, sector officials, presiding officials and police officials made a final movement to their respective assigned polling duties in district today.
The transit of the officials was made final for 168 polling stations (PS) on day two i.e Thursday 25th April, 2024.
Altogether, there are 254 polling stations under 113-Haflong (ST) of which polling officials for 86 polling stations moved yesterday i.e 24th April, 2024 and remaining polling officials for 168 polling stations moved today i.e 25th April, 2024.
Overall, 1,55,259 voters are eligible to vote tomorrow in Dima Hasao district for Lok Sabha 6- Diphu 113 Haflong (ST) LAC constituency . Distribution of materials and dispersal of polling officials including the zonal magistrate and sector officers was conducted smoothly in Dima Hasao today.
Polling officers will apply indelible ink to the index fingers after the voters cast their votes at the polling stations. To encourage the voters participation the Assam government has declared paid holiday in all districts where the poll is scheduled.

Day one movement of polling officials for Lok Sabha MP Elections under 6-Diphu (ST) Parliamentary Assembly begins at Haflong today, 24th April 2024
The polling officials includes zonal magistrates, sector officials, presiding officials and police officials made a movement to their respective assigned polling duties in district today.
The transit of the officials was made for 86 polling stations (PS) on day one i.e today.

Altogether there are 254 polling stations under 113-Haflong (ST) of which the remaining officials for 168 polling stations will moved tomorrow i.e 25th April, 2024.
Dima Hasao will go on poll in the second phase for Lok Sabha of 6-Diphu (ST) Parliamentary Assembly election in 113-Haflong (ST) LAC on Friday 26th April, 2024 from 7AM to 5 PM.
1, 55,259 voters which include 77,327 male and 77,932 female will exercise franchise across 254 polling stations. 15 polling stations are all women polling stations where the civil as well as police officials are women with an objective to encourage the female voters. Whereas there are three model polling stations in Haflong town that have all the amenities.

HSLC Examination 2024 result under SEBA was announced on 20 April 2024 with 75.7% Pass Percentage.

As per the result, Dima Hasao secures Third Position among all the districts in Assam for the third consecutive result.

Chirang secured first position with a pass percentage of 91.2%. The second being Nalbari with 88.1% and Dima Hasao in the third with a pass percentage of 87.3%,

As per SEBA , a total of 4,19,078 candidates appeared in the exams, among which 3,17,317 students passed, with an overall pass percentage of 75.7%.

1,05,873 candidates secured first division, 1,50,764 candidates secured second division and 60,680 candidates got third division.

The results show an improvement in the pass percentage compared to the last two years when the pass percentage was 56.4% in 2022 and 72.6% in 2023.

Holiday on 26th April in Dima Hasao
Haflong, 19th April, 2024: The Government of Assam has declared public holiday on 26th April for constituencies holding second (2nd) phase of the General Election of Lok Sabha, 2024 polls as per the Governor's order under the Negotiable Instruments Act (N.I.A) of 1881 mandates. Dima Hasao district will also go on the polls in the 2nd phase on 26th April within the jurisdiction/area of 6-Diphu (ST) parliamentary Constituencies along with 4-Darrang-Udalguri, 6-Diphu, 7-Karimganj, 8-Silchar(SC), 9-Nagaon constituencies. In all government and non-government offices, PRIs, urban local bodies, educational institutions, business and commercial establishments including banks, tea gardens, and industries within the specified jurisdiction of the constituencies will remain closed on polling days on account of public holiday under N.I.Act, 1881.

Haflongnews, 17th April, 2024: In Connection with the ensuing 1st phase of general election, 2024 to the parliamentary constituencies in the state of Meghalaya and Nagaland, which is scheduled to be held on 19/04/2024, the District Commissioner, Dima Hasao, Haflong hereby declare “DRY DAY” in Dima Hasao district from 4:00 pm of 17/04/2024 till the time of conclusion of poll on 19/04/2024.
The District Commissioner, in the order issued by Excise Branch vide No. NCH/EX/FL- 1/2024-25/ Date : 16" April 2024 says : “In pursuance of the Govt of Assam WT messages no. ECF no. 271931/397 dated 29” March 2024 and ECF no. 271931/395 dated 29th March 2024 in connection with the ensuing 1™ phase of General Election , 2024 to the parliamentary constituencies in the state of Meghalaya and Nagaland , which is scheduled to be held on 19/04/2024 , the undersigned hereby declare “DRY DAY” in Dima Hasao District from 4:00 pm of 17/04/2024 till the time of conclusion of poll on 19/04/2024.

Flying squads and surveillance teams on vigil to check flow of cash, liquor during polls
Haflong, 7th April, 2024: For effective monitoring of poll process and to ensure that the political parties and candidates abide by the guidelines of the Election Commission in their electioneering during the Lok Sabha elections, office of the Dima Hasao District Commissioner cm District Election Officer has appointed 6 teams of FST (Flying Squad Team), 6 teams of SST (Static Surveillance Team), 3 teams of VST (Video Surveillance Team).
These teams have been categorised for two zones. Zone one covering places under Police stations- Haflong, Harangajao, Mahur, Maibang and Langting whereas zone two covering places under polcie stations- Umrangso, Diyungmukh and Dehangi. Three teams are continouly monitoning any violation of MCC on day to day basis
The flying squad teams comprising of police officials, videographers are headed by officials with executive magisterial power. They are entrusted with duties of tracking and monitoring of illegal cash transactions, any distribution of liquor, any other items suspected of being used for bribing the voters.

The SST teams have put up check posts to keep a watch on the movement of large quantities of cash, illegal liquor, any suspicious item or arms being carried in their area. The locations of static surveillance teams are changed periodically to maintain an element of surprise. The video surveilance teams are assigned the task of videography of all major rallies, public meetings and other major expenses made by political parties.
So far no seizers or violation or any suspicious substances have been reported in this district.

Haflong, 02 March 2024 : The Chief Executive Member of the NC Hills Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa, on the 1st March 2024 allocated subjects to the Members of the Executive Committee with immediate effect.
The Notification of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council Secretariate, Haflong , Dima Hasao district, General Administration Department issued vide No. NCHAC/GAD/Forms-EC/1/2023-24/6, Dated Haflong, the 1st March 2024, is read :
In exercise of the power conferred under Rules 31(1) of the Assam Autonomous District (Constitution of District Councils) Rules 1951 as amended, the Chief Executive Member is pleased to allocate subjects to the Members of the Executive Committee as follows with immediate effect.

prohibitory orders U/S144 Cr.P.C. for HSLC, HS examination throughout Dima Hasao on
Haflong, 10 February 2024 :
The order was issued today,10 February 2024, by Addl.District Magistrate, Dima Hasao Haflong James Aind, ACS, vide Memo E-No.13546
The order says, "in exercise of powers conferred upon me U/S 144 Cr.P.C. do hereby promulgate the following prohibitory orders U/S144 Cr.P.C. throughout the district of Dima Hasao until further order prohibiting;
1.Entry of unauthorized person or unnecessary crowding around the premises of Examination
Centers and within 100 meters radius of centre premises.
2.Carrying of unauthorized and suspected objects, Mobile Phones, Electronic Device,Digital
watches by the examinees to the Examination Hall.
3.Unauthorized persons engaged in the conduct of examination aiding students/examinees
through unfair means.
Considering the gravity of the situation this order has been passed ex-parte and will be
enforceable with immediate effect and will remain in operation till completion of the examination process."

14th National Voters days was celebrated on 25th January 2024 at Haflong with rest of the country.
The programme was organized by District Election Office of Dima Hasao at District Library Auditorium, Haflong.
The celebration programme was attended by District Commissioner Simanta Kumar Das as the Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Das emphasizes voting as a sign of patriotism. As such everybody should participate in it. A voter has a huge contribution in nation building through ones exercise of vote.
During the programme, Awards were given out to the school students who won the essay competition held on previous day.
Delivering his speech, Election officer Dhiman Hazarika informed that National Voters’ Day is being celebrated on January 25 every year, across the country to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India, i.e. 25th January 1950. The main purpose of the celebration is to create electoral awareness amongst citizens and encourage them to participate in the electoral process.
Felicitation of the new enlisted voters was also done as the part of the programme and handed over their Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC).
It may be noted that National Voters’ Day is celebrated at the national, state, district, constituency and polling booth levels, which makes it one of the largest celebrations in the country.

National Girl Child Day observed at Haflong
Haflong, 24th January 2024: National Girl Child Day was observed on 24th January 2024 at Haflong with rest of the country.
The programme was organized by District Hub For Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Department of social Welfare in collaboration with Directorate of Health Services.
In this connection a rally was organized by District the Office of the Additional Director Chief Medical & Health Officer, Haflong, Dima Hasao.
The rally started from the Office of the Addl. C.M&H.O, Haflong up to the Cultural Institute Hall. The rally was participated by Officials from the line department like Medical and Social Welfare department , students from different schools and others. After the rally, an awareness programme was held at Cultural Institute Hall which was attended by CMOCD Dr. Paban Kr. Ganju i/c Jt. DHS Haflong as a Chief Guest along with postmaster Dilip Kumar Barman, Administrator Doctors and other dignitaries.
Programme began with a welcome speech by District Immunization Officer Dr. Marina L Changsan who gave a brief description on the importance of a girl child.
Chief guest of the programme Dr. Paban Kr. Ganju spoke about the importance of safeguarding a girl child as equally to a boy child. He highlighted the difficulties of educating a girl child due to bad economic conditions but nowadays it has improved because the government has taken up various programme and steps. He requested every parents/guardians to provide further education to a girl child.
District Child Protection Officer Sushanta Langthasa promoted awareness about the rights of a girl child and addresses issues like child marriage, discrimination and violence against girls.
Postmaster Dilip Kumar Barman raised an awareness of Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana for Social Security of Girl Child. Under this schemes , Minimum deposit Rs. 250/ Maximum deposit Rs. 1.5lakh in a financial year. He stated that an account can be opened in the name of a girl child till she attains the age of 10 years.
As a part of the programme , there were various distributions including the distribution of kits to the girl child , distribution of Selfie Contest Prize by Social Welfare department and distribution of certificates & gifts to the student.

Former CEM Mohet Hojai elected as chairman of 13th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council.

Haflong, 21st January 2024: Former CEM Mohet Hojai elected as chairman of 13th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council by the newly constituted members on 21st January 2024.

The Members on 20th January 2024 had filed nomination paper in favour of Mohet Hojai for the post of Chairman of the Council and submitted to the Secretary Legislative Department of the Council. No other MACs filed nomination.
The newly constituted 13th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council held its first meeting on 21st January 2024 at the Council Session Hall.
During the meeting, Mohet Hojai was declared elected as Chairman of the Council un-opposed by the District Commissioner Simanta Kr Das.
During the meeting, Mohet Hojai was declared as Chairman of the 13th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council un-oppose by the District Commissioner Simanta Kr Das.
