Lok Sabha MP Sikkim, Dr Indra Hang S***a, attends Consultative Meeting on Peace Charter at Cambodia

Dr Indra Hang S***a, Lok Sabha MP Sikkim, on 6th September 2024 attended the international ‘Consultative Meeting on Peace Charter’ at Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It was co-hosted by the Asian Vision Institute (AVI), the National Assembly of Cambodia and the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP) Asia Pacific Regional Office.

The opening remarks of the meeting were made by Mr Suos Yara, the Chairman of Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Information of National Assembly of Cambodia.

Dr. Indra Hang S***a participated in a roundtable discussion with the theme of ‘conflict prevention, transitional justice, peace building process, good offices and cooperation’.
In his remarks, Dr. Indra Hang S***a stressed on how India believes in the ideology of ‘Vasudaiva Kutumbakam - the world is one family’.
“Widely acclaimed success of India’s presidency of the G20 with this ideology has proved how India has been proactively engaged in building trust in the international community. The diplomacy of mutual trust has been core to India’s relation with other nations,” he said.

Further, Dr. Indra Hang S***a shared that India, despite being a diverse nation with more than 1.47 billion population, has been successful in maintaining peace and tranquility at large. This is reflected in the fact that India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world today.

Dr. Indra Hang S***a submitted to the delegates that climate change, given the present circumstances globally and its cross-border impact, should also be given top consideration while advocating for stability and peace. The proposed peace charter cannot be complete if we do not include in it the mitigation of adverse effects of climate change, he stressed. He shared how glacial lakes, if unmonitored, pose huge risks for the Himalayan region and emphasised on considering climate change as one of the main pillars of the Peace Charter.

Another subject raised by the Lok Sabha MP was how rapid changes in the technological landscape have contributed to rapid growth and development, yet it has also fuelled economic, educational and social inequality.

“I am delighted to have highlighted the efforts made by India in promoting international peace and strengthening cooperation. I am proud to have discussed peace initiatives of Sikkim in such an international forum,” said Dr. Indra Hang S***a.

After the event, Dr. Indra Hang S***a also met the President of the National Assembly of Kingdom of Cambodia at her office and thanked her for the initiative taken to promote international peace.

Dr. Indra Hang S***a is a well-educated, well-qualified and competent person. Even at his young age, being an MP he always raised his words and voice in the Parliament for the welfare of Sikkim and its people.

Some people may doubt about what he did or what achievement did he bring in his tenure for the state. But such people always watch what is happening inside our state, Sikkim only and not outside the state. We must keep the knowledge of all the things that are happening outside Sikkim as well.

Speaking in the parliament is not as easy as speaking in the Facebook, i.e. by taking the videos and uploading them in the fb.

At a very young age he was elected as an M.P. Candidate from Sikkim. We have several videos as clear evidences of Dr. Indra Hang speaking in the parliament raising his words and voice aimed at the welfare of our state and its people. In his earlier tenure he did his very best. He left no stone unturned for the goodness of the Sikkimese.

To be an M.P Candidate one must be a well-educated, well-qualified and competent individual. Dr. Indra Hang fulfills all the eligibility to be our M.P. He is the most appropriate and best person to be the M.P. Thus, it is most likely that he will be our next M.P.
