The US Mission to India has pronounced the opening of 250,000 unused visa course of action openings, updating travel openings for tourists, skilled masters, and understudies.

This movement takes after Prime Serve Narendra Modi's afterwards visit to the US and dialogues with President Joe Biden on bracing individual ties.

More than 1.2 million Indians have travelled to the US this year, a 35% increase from 2023, while over six million presently hold non-immigrant visas.

After convincing her father to allow her to attend school, Pinki received the support she needed to thrive academically.

On October 3, the government announced the Prime Minister's Internship Program, offering 1.25 lakh internships at leading companies for the monetary year 2024-25.

This initiative is part of a larger plan to create one crore internships over five years, with a total budget of Rs 800 crore.

The program c***ects young graduates with 500 top firms via an online portal managed by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), streamlining the application process.

Eligibility is open to candidates aged 21-24 years who have completed their graduation or are currently pursuing a degree.

Registration will be available from October 12-25, with internships commencing on December 2, 2024.

Interns will receive a stipend of Rs 5,000 per month, alongside additional benefits under various government schemes.

This initiative not only enhances participants' skills but also boosts their employability, providing essential experience in competitive environments.

Assam's government proposes making swimming proficiency mandatory for Class I officers and employees to enhance disaster preparedness, particularly in response to the state's annual flash floods.

At the 51st State Executive Meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota, discussions centered on mainstreaming disaster risk reduction. "Many officials travel by boat to work and field visits, making swimming skills crucial", stated a proposal.

To encourage participation, incentives will be offered for attaining proficiency, potentially linking completion of training to regular increments and promotions. The government will reimburse up to Rs. 10,000 for training costs.

Initially targeting Class I officers, the policy will eventually cover all state government officials, regardless of location. Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has begun Phase I training in Kamrup Metro district.

This proactive measure aims to boost disaster resilience and ensure officials' safety.

Surgeon Vice-Admiral Arti Sarin has made history by becoming the first woman officer to take charge as the Director-General of the Armed Forces Medical Services (DG AFMS), overseeing medical policy matters for the armed forces and reporting directly to the Defence Ministry.

With an illustrious 38-year-long career, Vice-Admiral Sarin has held prestigious appointments, including Director General Medical Services (Navy) and Director General Medical Services (Air). She's also served as the Director and Commandant of the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune, where she graduated with an MBBS degree and later earned her MD in Radiodiagnosis.

Her impressive background includes specialized training in gamma knife surgery from the University of Pittsburgh and a Diplomate National Board in Radiation Oncology from Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. Vice-Admiral Sarin's remarkable journey is a testament to her dedication and expertise in the field.

The Gauhati High Court has directed the Assam Government to respond to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding the illegal operation of offline and online lotteries in the state. The court, led by Chief Justice Vijay Bishnoi and Justice N. Unni Krishnan Nair, ordered the state government to issue directives to district commissioners and superintendents of police to refrain from granting permission for such activities.

According to the Lotteries (Regulation) Act of 1998 and the Lotteries (Regulation) Rules of 2010, only the state government is authorized to organize lotteries, and only under specific conditions ¹. The Amicus Curiae pointed out that some district commissioners have been granting permission to individuals and organizations to operate offline and online lotteries without proper authority.

The court has given the state government six weeks to file its response to the PIL. In the meantime, the government must issue directions to district authorities to prevent any illegal lottery operations. The court also emphasized that superintendents of police should take immediate action against individuals or organizations found operating illegal lotteries.

Moirangthem Thoiba Singh, an Indian professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Indian Super League (ISL) club Odisha, has played his 50th match for Odisha FC in ISL.

Thoiba became the youngest player to make a first team debut in Indian football League system at the age of 15.

He is also the youngest goalscorer at the AFC Cup, scoring a goal at the age of 16, for Minerva Punjab against Nepali side Manang Marshyangdi in their 1–1 tie on 15 May 2019.

Pramod Bodo, the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), recently distributed 1,886 land certificates to beneficiaries from Sidli, Bengtol, and Bijni Revenue Circles in Chirang District, Assam. This initiative aims to resolve land-related issues and secure land rights for the people of BTR.

The distribution ceremony, held at Kajalgaon, is part of the BTR government's efforts to address the long-standing land disputes in the region. Under Mission Bwiswmuthi 1.0, the government has successfully resolved 72,780 out of 91,767 land-related applications, ensuring seamless online access to revenue and land-related services for BTR citizens.

Mungiakami Police made a significant bust in their anti-drug operation, seizing a vehicle carrying 9,900 bottles of Phensedyl, a banned cough syrup worth approximately Rs. 50 lakh. This took place Thursday morning at the 41-mile checkpoint along the National Highway.

Following a tip-off received by Officer-in-Charge Gautam Debbarma, police intercepted a truck traveling from Assam to Agartala. Upon inspection, authorities found the illicit cargo and arrested the truck driver and co-driver, who are now being questioned.

Assam government has briefed the Gauhati High Court on an inspection of the Nilachal hills concerning the Maa Kamakhya Access Corridor project.

A joint team from the Public Works Department, IIT-G, and CSIR-NGRI conducted a three-day assessment to evaluate potential impacts on sacred underground springs.

A feasibility report and hydrological study proposal have been submitted and are currently under review.

Additionally, the Archaeological Survey of India clarified that while the Kamakhya Temple is not designated as a national monument, several nearby rock inscriptions are protected.

The petitioner's counsel raised significant concerns about the construction's proximity to these protected sites, emphasizing the need for stringent measures to safeguard both cultural heritage and local religious sentiments.

Five Indian languages: Marathi, Pali, Prakrit, Assamese, and Bengali have been granted classical language status by the Union Cabinet on Thursday.

Earlier, Tamil, Sanskrit, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Odia were the notified classical languages.

"The Classical Languages serve as a custodian of Bharat’s profound and ancient cultural heritage, embodying the essence of each community's historical and cultural milestone," said the government in a press release.

"The primary states involved are Maharashtra (Marathi), Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh (Pali and Prakrit), West Bengal (Bengali), and Assam (Assamese). The broader cultural and academic impact will extend nationally and internationally," it added to its statement.

Kaziranga National Park welcomed back tourists on Tuesday following a five-month closure. On the very first day, a lucky visitor from Jorhat had a rare encounter with the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger.

During the season's inaugural jeep safari along the banks of Bhoisamari Beel, Ashwini Borkotoky, the fortunate tourist, spotted the magnificent big cat.

Describing the experience, Borkotoky said, "At first, we thought it was a deer, but a fellow tourist quickly realized that it was actually a tiger. It was visible for about 15 seconds before disappearing into the forest."
