Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Chief Gaurav Gogoi strongly criticized the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led State government while addressing the media at Rajiv Bhawan as part of the party's 'Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod' campaign.

Gogoi drawed parallels between the Assam Chief Minister and 'Shakuni Mama' from the Mahabharata. He accused Sarma of prioritizing discord over unity, claiming that the CM is more focused on destroying rather than building.

A student of Class 11 at Frontier Senior Secondary School in Assam's Sribhumi was detained by the police after a country-made pistol was found in his possession during school hours on Saturday.

The incident came to light when a teacher noticed the boy frequently reaching into his pocket, sparking suspicion.

Initially thinking he might be carrying a prohibited mobile phone, the teacher checked his pocket and was shocked to discover the weapon instead. The student was subsequently handed over to the police.

A TV journalist, Deep Saikia, was shot and injured on Saturday evening while covering the Zinnia Flower Festival in Manipur's Senapati.

Saikia, a reporter with Hornbill TV, sustained gunshot wounds to his armpits and legs. He was initially admitted to the Senapati district hospital before being transferred to Dimapur in Nagaland for further treatment.

The incident occurred in Laii village, a Naga-majority area, during the flower festival.

Fortunately, the assailant was caught by locals, along with an air gun, and handed over to the police. Authorities are now investigating the motive behind the attack.

Notably, this incident follows a recent public confrontation between Saikia and Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton at an event in Wokha district. Patton had criticized the journalist over his reporting, sparking concerns about the potential connection between the two incidents.

A heartfelt tribute to the late Jimmy Ngamminlun Mate, a brave soldier who served in the 5th Assam Regiment.

The soldier tragically lost his life while on duty in Jammu and Kashmir, swept away by the Chenab River's strong currents. His body was recovered, and his sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Today, ironically, would have been his birthday, but instead, people gathered to bid him a tearful farewell and lay him to rest.

Born on August 31, 2005, in Sahumphai village, Chandel district, Manipur, Jimmy lived a life of pride and service to the nation.
