On Monday, a division bench of the Telangana High Court dismissed the state government's appeal against a single-judge order to transfer the probe.

The Telangana government on Tuesday sought an urgent hearing in the Supreme Court on its appeal challenging the high court's order for a CBI probe into alleged attempts to poach Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLAs.

On Monday, a division bench of the Telangana High Court dismissed the state government's appeal against a single-judge order to transfer the probe into the case of alleged attempts to poach BRS MLAs from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the state police to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Mentioning the state's plea before a bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, senior advocate Dushyant Dave said there was an FIR related to "destabilising the state government".
He said the single-judge bench had ordered a CBI probe and the larger bench upheld it, saying the state government's appeal was not maintainable.

The National Medical Commission(NMC) approved for the 9th Medical College in Assam in Dhubri on Monday, 8th August 2022.

The board had also reviewed the deficiency of students and had further instructed through virtual meeting on the topic and gave approval to intake 100 MBBS students annually from the academic year of 2022-23 onwards.

A letter from NCM,Medical Assessment & Rating Board (MARB), Undergraduate Section addressed to the new Dean of the Medical College regarding approval for admitting 100 MBBS students annually from 2022-23 onwards and also that MARB had examined the assessor's report and remarks of the UG expert on the infrastructure facilities, availability of faculty and other facilities at the new Medical College.

Sharing the NCM letter on Twitter, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote: “Glad to share that the MBBS course of new Dhubri Medical College (9th medical college of Assam) under Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences with 100 seats has received the approval of Medical Assessment and Rating Board under the National Medical Commission"

Assam and Mizoram is reported negotiate on decade old ongoing border dispute on 9 August 2022, Tuesday. The meeting will be held in Aizwal.

The delegation of Assam will be led by Minister Atul Bora, who will be accompanied by Housing and Urban minister Ashok Singhal who will be accompanied by other officials as well.

The delegation of Mizoram will be led by Home Minister Lalchamliana and other officials of the state as well.

The talks will be held to bring out an amicable solution to the old standing border disputes between both the states.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Gnanendra Prasad was found dead at his residence in Hyderabad, officials said on Monday after they got information that someone had died by su***de near Miyapuri police station limits.

Mr. Prasad was found hanging from a ceiling fan when the police had arrived the spot.

The dead body has been transferred to a local government hospital for post-mortem examination (PME).

As per reports, the police had arrived the spot when they got information that someone had committed su***de near Miyapuri P.S during morning hours on Monday.Further a case has been registered too.

Bhattadev University which was upgraded from Bajali College by Bhattadev University Act, 2017 which was passed by the Governor of Assam on 7 September 2017 is located in Bajali, Pathsala.

A team of directorate of vigilance and anti corruption earlier today caught the registrar of Bhattadev University taking bribe red handed from a contractor under PWD for releasing a bill.

The registrar, Guru Prasad Khataniar had demanded a sum of Rs 1,00,000/- as bribe for releasing the bill for earth filling work at Bhattadev University” from the contractor under PWD department, unwilling to pay which the complainant had approached the director of v&ac, and the team of directorate had taken immediate action.

The registrar had reportedly reduced the bribe amount from Rs. 1,00,000 to Rs. 50,000. He was caught red handed near guest house of Assam Engineering Institute, Chandmari soon after accepting the bribe money amount, which was a trap laid by a team of directorate of v&ac near Chandmari P.S.

“Our fight against corruption continues. Today, a team of caught red-handed Sri Guru Prasad Khataniar, Registrar, Bhattadev University, Pathsala, District – Bajali with accepted bribe money. Further Lawful action is being taken,” tweeted Assam special DGP GP Singh.

5 August 2022: a historic day for team India, a day to be remembered as they win 6 medals which includes 3 gold medals, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.

Deepak Punia, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia all had clinched gold, while Anshu Malik won silver and Divya Kakran, Mohit Grewal both won bronze medals. All 6 of them are wrestlers.

This gave them an immediate jump to 5th place on the table from the previous 7th position, with a total of 9 gold medals, 8 silvers and 9 bronze medals, making their total tally of 26 medals. Currently the top three positions in the table are held by Australia, England and Canada with a total of 140, 131 and 67 medals respectively. In the 4th position, stands New Zealand with 41 medals in total.

NDA candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar defeats Oppositional candidate Margaret Alva to become the new Vice President of India.

• Jagdeep Dhankar won the vice-presidential elections with 528 votes against Margaret Alva's 182 votes given by member of both the houses today.

• Here are a few points on his career in law and politics -

•It is to be noted that he earlier served as the Governor of West Bengal and he also had served as the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs in the Chandra Shekhar ministry.

• Besides a career in politics, Vice President Dhankar also had a career in law. He had practiced law in the high court of Rajasthan and also in Supreme Court of India. He was designated as a Senior Advocate by the High Court of Judicature for Rajasthan in 1990, and also was the senior-most designated Senior Advocate of the state of Rajasthan until he took the oath as Governor on 30 July 2019.

• Since 1990, Dhankhar had been practicing primarily in the Supreme Court of India.

• He is also a former President of Rajasthan High Court Bar Association, in Jaipur.

• He was a former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Kishangarh, Rajasthan during 1993–98, he was also Member of Parliament from Jhunjhunu Lok Sabha constituency in Rajasthan during 1989–91 in the 9th Lok Sabha, representing Janata Dal Party.

•Jagdeep Dhankhar took oath on 30 July 2019 at the Raj Bhavan, Kolkata as the Governor of West Bengal. He later resigned from the office on 17 July 2022, after he was nominated as the vice-presidential candidate of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

•After being nominated by the NDA on 16th of July 2022. On 18th July 2022, he had filed his nomination papers for the Vice-president elections.

•Dhankar won the Vice-presidential elections by securing 528 votes out of the 725 MP who voted from the lower house and upper house. He is set to assume office of the Vice President on 11 August 2022.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was detained by the Delhi Police amid protests against the ED’s (a law enforcement and economic intelligence agency) summoning of Sonia Gandhi in an alleged money laundering case. Other party leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Ranjeet Ranjan, KC Venugopal, Manickam Tagore, Imran Pratapgarhi, and K Suresh, have also been detained. The leaders have been taken to Kingsway Camp, DCP (New Delhi).

Hitting out at the central government for “dictatorship”, Rahul alleged that they were not being able to process discussions and deliberations inside Parliament and during protests, the leaders were arrested. “INDIA is a POLICE STATE, MODI is a KING,” Rahul added.

Sonia Gandhi reached the ED office
for a second round of questioning in the National Herald money laundering case. She was accompanied by Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi. After about 2.5 hours of questioning, Sonia left the ED office.

The agency’s case is based on a trial court order that allowed the Income Tax Department to probe the affairs of National Herald newspaper and conduct a tax assessment of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. The order was the result of a 2013 petition filed by BJP MP Subramanian Swamy, who alleged CHEATING AND MISAPPROPRIATION of funds on the part of the Gandhis in acquiring the newspaper.

The CHINA-PAKISTAN Economic Corridor (CPEC) was launched in 2013 to improve Pakistan's road, rail and energy transportation infrastructure besides connecting its deep-sea port of Gwadar with China's Xinjiang province.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said now activities under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor are "INHERENTLY ILLEGAL" and will be treated accordingly by India.

India on 26 July 2022 slammed China and Pakistan for their endeavour to encourage third countries to join projects relating to their multi-billion dollar connectivity corridor that passes through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK)

In a sharp reaction, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said such activities under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) are "inherently illegal, illegitimate and unacceptable", and will be treated accordingly by India.

"We have seen reports on encouraging proposed participation of third countries in so-called CPEC projects. Any such actions by any party directly infringe on India's sovereignty and territorial integrity," Mr Bagchi said.

"India firmly and consistently OPPOSES projects in the so-called CPEC, which are in Indian territory that has been illegally occupied by Pakistan," he added.

The competition is about to begin amongst the top companies for the 5G Spectrum bid.

The companies that are competing here include Reliance Jio, Adani networks; a subsidy under the Adani Group, Bharti Airtel and VI .

They have submitted EMD to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). Reliance Jio has put in Rs 14,000 crore, compared to Rs 5,500 crore by Bharti Airtel. Rs 2,200 crore by Vodafone Idea, and EMD of Rs 100 crore by the Adani Group.

Based on this EMD, the telecom companies will be eligible to bid up to about Rs. 1.9 lakh crores. They are all set to bid for 72 GHz of radiowaves worth Rs 4.3 lakh crore on offer. The bidding process will reportedly end by 6p.m. 26 July 2022.

Dated 26 July 2022, India has commemorated 23 years of its victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War, saluting the supreme sacrifices and valour of the fallen heroes in recapturing several mountain heights seized by Pakistani intruders in Kashmir.

OPERATION VIJAY came to a successful end on July 26, 1999. Events and programmes are held across the country every year on July 26. The Indian Army also commemorated the 23rd Kargil Vijay Diwas at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass.

UNION HOME MINISTER Amit Shah took to Twitter and wrote, "Kargil Vijay Diwas is a symbol of the indomitable courage and valour of the Indian Armed Forces. Today is a day to be proud as well as to honour and remember our soldiers. With their bravery, the soldiers raised the tricolor again after driving out the enemies from Kargil."

PRIME MINISTER Narendra Modi said that the day is a symbol of pride and glory for the nation. He took to Twitter and stated, "Kargil Vijay Diwas is a symbol of pride and glory of Maa Bharati. MPs suspended for protesting when they were already warned by speaker of the house to protest outside. The MPs had been earlier warned by speaker Om Birla to behave properly and to maintain the decorum. They were asked to hold cards and protest outside the house. However they were protesting inside the Lok Sabha by holding cards against rising prices of goods and gst imposed on various products by the Govt.

The suspended Congress MPs are namely Manickam Tagore, Jothimani, Ramya Haridas and TN Prathapan. The Congress said the government is trying to intimidate its MPs. Congress Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi also son of former CM of Assam late Tarun Gogoi said that the MPs were holding cards raising the issues of rise in prices of gas cylinder, imposition of GST on items such as flour and buttermilk.

"We moved an adjournment motion demanding a discussion on these issues, but no discussion was held",
The speaker said. He was ready to listen to their questions and statement but not if they were behaving in such manner by protesting inside the house.

"If you want to show placards, do it outside the house. I am ready for discussions, but don't think my kind-heartedness is weakness," the Speaker said. Later, he adjourned the proceedings till tomorrow.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati is planning to join hands with the industrial sector to make availability of biodegradable eco-friendly plastic as an alternative to the single-use plastic (SUP)

"IIT Guwahati is working on different projects by using natively generated biodegradable plastic and resins in creating carrybags, food trays, toys and medical equipment",Dean of the premier, institute’s Research and Development, Dr Vimal Katiyar told the reporters.

"The institute is trying to tie up with the industrial division so that it acquires knowledge to create different products from biodegradable plastic and make these things available to consumers" he added.

Meanwhile, president of the city-based Indian Plast Pack Forum, Sachin Bansal, said "our organisation has decided to join hands with IIT Guwahati to get them training in the technique of creating different things from biodegradable plastic." "A delegation of the forum will visit IIT Guwahati", he added.
