डा. मिचुङ भोटियाको पोस्टको विरोधमा जर्नलिस्ट यूनियन अफ सिक्किम

सिक्किम डेमोक्रेटिक फ्रण्ट (एसडीएफ) पार्टीका सदस्य तथा पूर्व विधायक डा. मिचुङ भोटियाले आफ्नो आधिकारिक फेसबुक पेजमा एउटा पोस्ट साझा गर्दै सिक्किमका पत्रकारहरूलाई हल्ला गर्ने एउटा माध्यमको रूपमा जनता समक्ष प्रस्तुत गर्ने प्रयास गरेका छन्। उनले मुख्यमन्त्रीको मुम्बई भ्रमणमा पत्रकारहरूलाई उनको राजनीति प्रेरित पोस्टमा मुछ्नु दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण कुरा मान्छौं। डा. मिचुङ भोटियाको यस लेखले सिक्किमका श्रमजिवी पत्रकाहरूको छविमा चोट पुग्न गइरहेको हामीलाई महसूस भएको छ। अर्कोतिर लगभग 98 प्रतिशत फिल्डमा खट्ने सिक्किमका पत्रकारहरू आज पनि सिक्किममै रहेर काम गरिरहेका छौं। उनले यसरी कसैको व्यक्तिगत भ्रमण या केही चुनिन्दा पत्रकारहरूको भ्रमणमाथि टिप्पणी गरेर आज सिक्किमका सबै पत्रकारहरूलाई बद्नाम गर्ने कार्यको हामी विरोध गर्दछौं। अर्कोतिर डा. मिचुङ भोटियाले यो पनि बताउनुपर्यो कि उनले कुन आधारमा सिक्किममा पत्रकार छैनन् भन्ने कुरा उल्लेख गरेका हुन्? के पत्रकारहरूलाई कसैको ढलाईको हल्ला गर्ने व्यक्तिसँग तुलना गरेका हुन्? डाक्टर मिचुङ भोटियाले यसमाथि आफ्नो सफाई दिँदै जर्नलिस्ट यूनियन अफ सिक्किम प्रति माफी माग्नुपर्छ।

The Journalists Union of Sikkim (JUS) welcomes the continuous support extended by Chief Minister P.S. Golay and his government for development of media sector of Sikkim.

PRESS RELEASE

The Journalists Union of Sikkim (JUS) welcomes the continuous support extended by Hon’ble Chief Minister P.S. Golay and his government for development of media sector of Sikkim.
In his Budget Speech, the Hon’ble Chief Minister has shared the State government’s plans to send media persons of Sikkim on excursion and exposure trips to other States. These excursions and exposures aim to re-skill our media persons, make them evaluate more objectively and nurture spirit of competitive professionalism in them.
The JUS extends its gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister for announcing and allocating funds for ‘Media Fellowship’ to accredited journalists of Sikkim. As per the fellowship, 10 selected media persons will be provided with Rs. 1.50 lakh each per fiscal year to visit any development project in the country to evaluate and write reports.
We feel that this is a major encouragement from the State government for growth and development of our media persons so that they can serve the society in a more effective manner. We urge the eligible media persons of Sikkim to come forward and take benefit of this fellowship grant.

वरिष्ठ पत्रकार गङ्गा बहादुर राईको निधनप्रति जर्नलिस्ट युनियन अफ् सिक्किम गहिरो शोक व्यक्त गर्दछ। लामो समयदेखि सिकिस्त रहेका 68 वर्षीय पत्रकार राईको आइतवार निधन भएको छ। पत्रकार राईले आफ्नै प्रकाशन एवम् सम्पादनमा “सिक्किम दर्पण” (नेपाली समाचार-पत्र) प्रकाशित गरेर पत्रकारिता जगतमा दुई दशकभन्दा बढी सम्यसम्म उल्लेखनीय योगदान दिएका छन्। सिक्किमेली पत्रकारिता जगतमा उनको योगदान सदैव अवीस्मरणीय रहनेछ। पत्रकारिताप्रतिको उनको योगदान र समर्पणको सराहना र सम्झना गर्दै युनियन दिवंगत आत्माको चिर शान्तिको कामना गर्दछ। शोकाकुल परिवारमा यो बज्रपात सहन गर्नसक्ने शक्ति मिलोस् भन्ने कामना गर्दै हार्दिक समवेदना प्रकट गर्दछ।

प्रेस क्लब अफ् सिक्किम र जर्नलिस्ट युनियन अफ् सिक्किमको संयुक्त प्रेस विज्ञप्ति

पछिल्लो समयमा शिक्षकहरूद्वारा गरिएको धरनामा रिपोर्टिङ गर्न गएका विभिन्न समाचार-पत्र तथा सञ्चार माध्यमका संवाददाताहरूमाथि भएको दुर्व्यवहार र त्यसपछि सामाजिक सञ्जालमा केही असामाजिक तत्त्वहरूद्वारा गरिएको आपत्तिजनक टिका-टिप्पणीहरूले सम्पूर्ण पत्रकार जगतलाई आहत् तुल्याएको छ। यस्ता घटनाको हामी घोर भर्त्सना र निन्दा गर्दछौं। उक्त घटनालाई लिएर धरनामा बसेका शिक्षकहरूको दुवै समूहद्वारा खेद प्रकट गरिसकेपछि पनि केही व्यक्तिविशेषले वास्तविक घटनादेखि कोशौं टाढा रहेर रिपोर्टिङमा खटिएका संवाददातालाई निशाना गरेर सामाजिक सञ्जालमा उनीमाथि राजनीतिक हिलो छ्याप्ने र बदनाम गर्ने दुष्प्रयास गरिरहेका छन्। सबै पक्षको गुनासो र अडानलाई जनतासमक्ष पुऱ्याउन पत्रकारहरू कतै चुकेका छैनन् र यसलाई सचेत नागरिक समाजले सराहना गर्दै सकारात्मक प्रतिक्रिया पनि गरेका छन्। यसको निम्ति हामी कृतज्ञ पनि छौं। यद्यपि केही तत्त्वहरूले राजनीतिक पूर्वाग्रह राखेर सोसल मीडियामा पत्रकारमाथि जुन प्रकारको नकारात्मक प्रतिक्रिया गरे त्यो दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण हो। भविष्यमा कसैले पनि वास्तविक घटनाबाट अनभिज्ञ रहेर अनि मीडियाको विश्वसनीयतामाथि प्रहार गर्दै कसैमाथि राजनीतिक रंग पोत्ने र बदनाम गर्ने दुष्प्रयास नगरिदिने हाम्रो विनम्रतापूर्वक आग्रह छ। यस्ता घटनालाई दोहोरिन नदिन पुलिस प्रशासनबाट पनि उचित कारबाही हुनेछ भन्ने कुरामा हामी आशावादी पनि छौं। कुनै पनि पत्रकारमाथि हुने अपमानजनक टिका-टिप्पणीमाथि प्रेस क्लब अफ् सिक्किम र जर्नलिस्ट युनियन अफ् सिक्किम खरो रूपमा उत्रने निर्णय लिँदै घटनाको सत्यताबाट अनभिज्ञ रहेर भविष्यमा कसैले पनि यसरी सोसियल मीडियामा पत्रकारमाथि हमला गर्नेविरुद्ध हाम्रो संस्था खरो रूपमा उत्रनेछ।

गत 10 सेप्टेम्बर 2021-को साँझ गान्तोकको जिल्ला प्रशासनिक कार्यालयअघि धरनामा बसेका एडहक शिक्षकहरूद्वारा एकजना पत्रकारमाथि जुन प्रकारको व्यवहार गरियो त्यसले सम्पूर्ण सिक्किमेली पत्रकार जगतलाई दुःखित् बनाएको छ। सिक्किमको एउटा मीडिया संस्था “हाम्रो वार्ता”-का संवाददातालाई रिपोर्टिङको क्रममा शिक्षकहरूद्वारा गरिएको अभद्र व्यवहारको हामी घोर भर्त्सना गर्दछौं। शिक्षण जस्तो गरिमामय पेशामा संलग्न व्यक्तिहरूबाट एकजना पत्रकारलाई दुर्व्यवहार गरिनु दुर्भाग्यजनक मात्र होइन तर मर्यादाहीनताको दृष्टान्तको रूपमा हामीले लिएका छौं। यस प्रकारको दुर्व्यवहारका घटनाले एकजना पेशेवर पत्रकारको आत्मसम्मानलाई आहत् मात्र गरेको छैन तर सामाजिक असुरक्षाको स्थितिलाई पनि बोध गराएको छ। सम्बन्धित पत्रकारको कार्यशैली अथवा कभरेजसँग आपत्ति वा गुनासो हुनसक्छ तर हिंसात्मक अथवा दुर्व्यवहारपूर्ण तरिकाले त्यसको प्रतिक्रिया देखाउनु सभ्य समाजका लागि हितकर पटक्कै होइन। भविष्यमा यस्तो घटनालाई दोहोरिन नदिन समाजका सबै तप्काका मानिसहरूले विवेकपूर्ण तरिकाले व्यवहार गर्नेछन् भन्ने कुरामा हामी आशावादी छौं।

World Photography Day observed by Vivid Kala Akademi Sikkim (VIKAS) and Journalists Union of Sikkim (JUS)

Gangtok, Aug 19:

Vivid Kala Akademi Sikkim (VIKAS) in co-ordination with Journalists Union of Sikkim (JUS) observed World Photography Day here at the office of JUS today. The event was attended by pioneer of modern photography in the region Arthur Pazo as chief guest, accompained by renouned Architect and Retired Secretary Kiran Rasaily and President of Journalist Union Bhim Rawat as guest of honour along with Govinda Raju from Doordarshan.

The organisers also felicitated Arthur Pazo, pioneer of modern photography for his contributions in the field of photography in the region.

Chief Guest Arthur Pazo in his talk said A picture captures a thousand emotions locked in a frame. Photography is a form of art that immortalizes the moment forever. It has also become one of the most important and widely used modes of communication in the digital era. He also broefly touched upon the history of photography.

He also said Photography has evolved from its original purpose of documentation into a language in its own right. Different methods of photography convey different emotions, and often each photographer, in the course of time, develops their own style.

World Photography Day is an annual celebration of art, science, and history of photography. It is observed every year on August 19th to pay tribute to the art of photography. This day is commemorated with an aim to encourage people who want to pursue photography as a hobby or career.

While Guest of Honour Kiran Rasaily gave a small talk how photography has changed over the year and also said how photography used to be in Sikkim. The programme was attended by working journalists.

Journalist Union of Sikkim today celebrated 170th birth anniversary of Padri Ganga Prasad Pradhan at Golden Tips, MG Marg. Padri Ganga Prasad Pradhan is the first Gorkha journalist and writer of Gorkhali text books including the translation of the Bible in the Gorkhali/Nepali language at Golden Tips, MG Marg. The program was held under the chairmanship of Senior Journalist Nita Nirash and Bhim Rawat Presiden of Journalist Union of Sikkim.

During the welcome address Bhim Rawat, briefed about the life of Padri Ganga Prasad Pradhan, recalling the timeless contributions Rawat said
Padri Ganga Prasad Pradhan was the pioneer of the ‘Gorkha printing press’ and editor of ‘Gorkhey Khabar’ in Darjeeling so from journalism point of view also his contributions are immense. He also translated the Bible into Gorkhali language. We should not forget that Ganga Prasad gave birth to Gorkha journalism in the region.

While Senior Journalist Nita Nirash speaking on the occasion shared the youth should come forward to take responsibility for programme like this and this event is actually baton transferring event now youth should come forward remember the great man. The programme was conducted by Senior Journalist Prabin Khaling and the event had a presence of many journalists.

पत्रकार गिरीको निधनमा जर्नलिस्ट युनियन अफ् सिक्किमद्वारा शोक व्यक्त
पछिल्लो तीन दशकदेखि नेपाली, अङ्ग्रेजी, बंगला र हिन्दी भाषाको माध्यमबाट पत्रकारिता गर्दै आएका दार्जीलिङका एक वरिष्ठ पत्रकार रबिन गिरीको निधनमा जर्नलिस्ट युनियन अफ् सिक्किम गहिरो शोक व्यक्त गर्दछ। दार्जीलिङ प्रेस गिल्डका सदस्यसमेत रहेका पत्रकार गिरी पछिल्लो केही समयदेखि बिरामी अवस्थामा थिए। शनिवार बेलुकी 57 वर्षको उमेरमा उनको मृत्यु भएको पारिवारिक सूत्रबाट थाहा लागेको छ। विभिन्न क्षेत्रीय तथा राष्ट्रिय समाचार-पत्र र सञ्चार माध्यममा आबद्ध रहेर उनले पत्रकारिताको क्षेत्रमा उनले दीर्घकालदेखि उल्लेखनीय योगदान दिएका छन्। उनको निधनले पत्रतकारिता जगतमा अपुरणीय क्षति भएको युनियन बोध गर्दछ। उनको आत्मालाई चीर शान्ति प्राप्त होस् भन्ने कामनासहित हार्दिक युनियन श्रद्धाञ्जली अर्पण गर्दछ। शोकाकुल परिवारमा यो बज्रपात सहन गर्नसक्ने शक्ति मिलोस् भन्ने कामनासहित समवेदना पनि प्रकट गर्दछौं। पत्रकार गिरीले आफूपछि पत्नी र छोरी छोडिगएका छन्।

JUS thanks CM Prem Singh Tamang for addressing our demands

Journalists Union of Sikkim (JUS) express it’s immense gratitude to Chief Minister PS Golay for his quick response and intervention in the issues raised by JUS on Saturday keeping in view the safety and security of the Sikkimese journalists amid pandemic.
JUS welcomes and appreciates the announcement made by CM Golay during the inaugural program of the 18+ age group vaccination drive held on Sunday.
As per the announcement, the journalists will be vaccinated on priority basis via “special” vaccination drive on May 19.
Further, JUS is looking forward for a positive outcome on the Cabinet meeting yet to be called on declaring the State journalists as frontline warriors officially, respecting the selfless contributions towards the society risking their lives in such crucial scenario.

JUS would also like to thank Health Minister MK Sharma, ACS K.Sreenivasulu and senior officials for their support & cooperation.

The Executive body meeting of Journalist Union of Sikkim (JUS) was held today at its office at DPH road with an agenda of do discuss on publishing of bilingual (Nepali & English) magazine which will be published by Journalist Union of Sikkim.

The meeting discussed the length and breadth for the publication of magazine and constituted editorial board headed by Senior Journalist Bijoy Gurung for English language and Bhim Rawat/Pradeep Lohagon for Nepali language. The meeting also decided the magazine will highlight the problems faced by reporters while tackling Covid -19 pandemic. It was also decided, magazine will be compilation of articles from different field reporters sharing their experiences while reporting during Covid 19 pandemic. It will be bilingual magazine and guest column will also be there from eminent writer and senior journalist.
The meeting was presided by President JUS Bhim Rawat.

Further, the meeting also decide that JUS will organise mega poetry showcase event in order to understand and appreciate the world around us through poetry.

Journalist Union of Sikkim (JUS) is an independent body for working journalists of Sikkim. The JUS will fight for safeguarding the Freedom of the Press, defeating attacks on Journalists and Free Speech; and work for the welfare of journalists.
