It is with profound sadness that we inform the passing of Lt. Kunzang Bhutia, a resident of Bermiok Thangsing and the son of Lt. Michung Bhutia, who was currently residing in Santinagar, Singtam. Lt. Kunzang Bhutia left this world for his heavenly abode on January 24, 2025, at the hospital.

In accordance with the family's wishes, the final funeral rites will be conducted at Rumtek Monastery on January 26, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m. We kindly request that all family members, friends, well-wishers, and relatives be informed of these arrangements so that they may join us in honoring his memory and paying their last respects. Your presence would be a source of comfort to the grieving family during this difficult time.

In the picture, the esteemed Lama Samdup Bhutia, the Chutimpa of Whosel Choling Monastery, Bermiok Thangsing, alongside Santar Tiku of Ralang Monastery, who is currently meditating in Lumbini, Nepal, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha.

During their recent visit to Nepal, Lama Samdup Bhutia, the dedicated Chutimpa of Whosel Choling Monastery, met with Santar Tiku at the monastery in Nepal to seek the blessings of Lord Buddha for the well-being of the Sikkimese people and all sentient beings.
During their conversation, they shared their experiences on the path followed by Lord Buddha, focusing on achieving peace and happiness for the well-being of every sentient being in this world.

As one of the brother's lone state, including the seven sisters of Northeast India, Sikkim stands out as a perfect destination for tourists, often likened to Switzerland and other European countries, earning its reputation as a "heaven on earth."

The state boasts a dedicated police force that works tirelessly to uphold strong laws and ensure the safety of its citizens, maintaining impressively low crime rates while operating around the clock without holidays for 24×7.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shriman Prem Singh Tamang-Golay, for his visionary leadership and selfless service in upholding law and order. State-Level Tamang Community Extends Invitation to Hon'ble Shradha Pakhrim-Golay for Sonam Lochar Celebrations in Jautaar Stadium under Soreng District

Soreng, 20th September 2025: A delegation from the State Level Tamang Committee, consisting of the sitting President, senior citizens, and executive members, met with Madam Shradha Pakhrim-Golay, the Hon'ble Spouse of the Chief Minister of Sikkim, to extend an invitation for the upcoming "Sonam Lochar Festival" and to convey 'New Year greetings for 2025' at her residence in Soreng, West Sikkim.

During the meeting, the delegation expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Madam Shradha Pakhrim-Golay for her exemplary leadership and vision in uplifting the diverse cultures, religions, and communities of our beautiful state.

In response, Madam Pakhrim-Golay assured the committee members of her full support for organizing traditional cultural events that aim to unite the community and inspire the well-being of the Sikkimese people and all sentient beings for generations to come. She then assured that she would attend the State Level Celebration of the Sonam/Tamang Lochar Festival, scheduled to take place on January 27th, 2025, at Jautaar Stadium in Soreng District.

Annual Picnic|3rd January 2024-25

The Annual Picnic of the Todhey Thuindup Kyidu Samaaj was held at CRC Hall, Bermiok Tokal GPU, South Sikkim.

The event was graced by the presence of Chief Patron and Guardian of Bermiok Namphing, Yap Thinley Namgyal Densapa, along with renowned social worker Smt. Diki Lhamu Chumla from Bermiok 11th Mile. The gathering also included former TTK President Shri N.T. Bhutia, retired teacher Shri T.T. Bhutia, Shri GM Rai, Shri Rudra Bdr. Roka, senior citizens, other dignitaries, and members of the Samaaj across various age groups.

The primary aim of the annual picnic, organized by ten households in a row-wise manner within the Todhey Thuindup Kyidu Samaaj, is to foster unity among the diverse cultures, religions, and castes represented within our community. This significant event brings together 91 households comprising Bhutia, Lepcha, and Nepali members.

The picnic concluded with heartfelt farewells as participants celebrated the end of the year 2024 with grand festivities. The event featured a variety of cultural performances by Samaaj members, solo songs, sports activities, and numerous games. The celebrations culminated in the distribution of prizes by the Chief Guest, marking a memorable end to the day.

We thank all participants and look forward to another year of unity and collaboration within the Todhey Thuindup Kyidu Samaaj.

Bermiok Dzongsar Celebrates Loosong and Namsoong: A Vibrant Beginning to the Sikkimese New Year 2024-25

Tokal Bermiok, Todhey Kothi – On December 31, 2024, the beautiful state of Sikkim came alive with the vibrant celebrations of Loosong and Namsoong, marking the auspicious beginning of the Sikkimese New Year.

This year’s festivities were held at the historic Bermiok Dzongsar in Todhey Kothi, under the visionary guidance of Yap Thinley Namgyal Densapa and in collaboration with Todhey Thuindup Kyidu Samaaj. After a prolonged hiatus, the event successfully revived annual customs, bringing together the community in a spirit of joy and unity.

The celebration aimed to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of the Bhutia, Lepcha, and Nepali communities. Attendees were treated to a day filled with traditional programs, including captivating Lepcha & Bhutia folk songs and dances, a variety of local delicacies, and indigenous cultural performances. The event served as a reminder of the importance of honoring our cultural roots and traditions, fostering a sense of oneness among the Bhutia, Lepcha, and Nepali people.

The festivities were graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including renowned social worker Smt. Diki Lhamu Kazini, along with prominent local dignitaries such as AA1 Government Contractor Shri Parlad Gurung, AA1 Contractors Shri Dhiren Bhujel and Shri Sharan Bhujel, Teacher Shri Gokul Psd. Sharma, Teacher Shri Bhim Sharma, Adarshgoan ward Panchayat Smt. Goma Chettri, President of Adarshgoan Kalyan Samaaj Shri Indra Bdr. Sharma, Panchayat President of Tokal Bermiok GPU, Smt Sanki Bhutia, Panchayat Shri Tarachand Bajgai, Panchayat Shri Tashi Tshering Bhutia, Bermiok OP-IC Shri Om Prakash Chettri, Adarshgoan OP-SI Shri Zangpo Bhutia, TTK Samaj President Shri Ganesh Pradhan, AA1 Contractor Shri Gopal Pradhan, and many others local dignitaries.

Bermiok Tokal, 3st December 2024; Losoong-Namsoong is the Sikkimese New Year which marks the end of the harvest season. The Lepchas celebrate the occasion as Namsoong while the Sikkimese Bhutias call it the Losoong.
