*Two Injured in Alto Car Accident Near Ganpat Pul, Doda*

Doda, Jan 12— Two persons were injured after an Alto car bearing registration number JK02AD-5227 met with an accident near Ganpat Pul at Bagerni in the Doda today evening.

According to sources, the injured have been identified as Sonu Kumar (28), son of Taj Ram, and Sanjay Kumar (26), son of Taj Ram, both residents of Mothi, Tehsil Gandoh (Goha) Marmat, District Doda.

Both sustained injuries in the mishap and were immediately shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Doda, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Their condition is stated to be stable.

DLSA Bhaderwah organises Environmental Awareness Programme at tourist destination Guldanda

BHADERWAH: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Bhaderwah organized an Awareness Programme , cleanliness and Plantation Drive under the Pan India Environmental Legal Literacy and Community Protection Initiative “Protect Today, Secure Tomorrow” at famous tourist destination Guldanda Bhaderwah here today .The programme was conducted as part of ongoing efforts to promote environmental awareness, legal literacy, and community participation in environmental protection.The programme was conducted under the Chairmanship and direction of Chairman, DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Bhaderwah and under the supervision of Secretary DLSA Tabriz Qazi .Panel Lawyer District Legal Services Authority Adv Mohd Majid Malik sensitized the participants on the growing environmental challenges and emphasized the importance of sustainable practices, individual responsibility, and community-driven initiatives for environmental conservation. His address highlighted the legal and social dimensions of environmental protection and encouraged participants to actively contribute towards safeguarding natural resources for future generations.Adv Mohd Majid Malik also apprised the participants about the role of Legal Services Authorities in promoting environmental justice and access to legal remedies. He highlighted how legal aid mechanisms can be effectively utilized to address environmental grievances and stressed the importance of awareness at the grassroots level to ensure protection of environmental rights.The programme witnessed active participation from Staff Members, Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA Bhaderwah, former Sarpanch and president Guldanda tourism welfare Committee Yasir and other office bearers and locals .The event concluded with a plantation drive and cleanliness drive , reaffirming the collective commitment of the participants towards environmental sustainability and the objective of the initiative to protect the environment today for a secure tomorrow.

A tragic road ac**ident occurred at Barshalla, Thathri today, resulting in the d*ath of one minor and leaving another critically inj**ed.

According to sources, Karan, son of Shamsunder, aged 8 years, lost his life on the spot due to severe inj*ries sustained in the ac**dent. His brother, Amrit, also son of Shamsunder, was critically inj**red and has been shifted to GMC Doda for advanced medical treatment.

Local residents and authorities rushed to the spot soon after the incident and arranged immediate medical assistance. The exact cause of the acci**ent is yet to be ascertained, and further investigation is underway.

The incident has caused deep shock and grief in the local community.

KISHTWAR POLICE CRACK DOWN ON DRUG MENACE; PEDDLER HELD WITH 211 GRAMS OF CHARAS-LIKE SUBSTANCE*

Kishtwar, Jan. 06, 2026:

Continuing its sustained and intensified drive against drug trafficking, District Police Kishtwar achieved another significant success by arresting a drug peddler and recovering 211 grams of charas-like narcotic substance during routine patrolling in the Malipeth–Bus Stand area of Kishtwar.

*While sharing the details, SSP Kishtwar, Sh. Naresh Singh–JKPS,* stated that a police party from Police Station Kishtwar, headed by *SHO PS Kishtwar, Insp. Firdous Ahmed, and assisted by PSI Arush Sharma,* was conducting routine patrolling in the areas of Malipeth, Bus Stand area under the supervision of *Addl. SP Kishtwar, Sh. Pardeep Singh Goria–JKPS, and Dy. SP Hqrs Kishtwar, Dr. Ishan Gupta–JKPS.*

During the patrolling, upon reaching near Bus Stand Kishtwar, the police party noticed one individual moving suspiciously. Acting promptly, the police party apprehended the suspect. Upon conducting his personal search, 211 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession and the accused has been arrested on the spot.

During preliminary questioning, the accused disclosed his identity as *Mohd Rajab S/o Mohd Anwar Naik R/o Sarawan, Keshwan.*

Accordingly, FIR No. 05/2026 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the contraband and to identify other persons involved in the illegal drug trade.

DDC Chairman Dhananter Singh Kotwal Attends “We Bhaderwahi Meet” Organised by BATA in Bhaderwah
Bhaderwah, January 06:
A special programme titled “We Bhaderwahi Meet” was organised by the President of Bhaderwah Adventure Tourism Association (BATA), Shri Manish Kotwal, at Bhaderwah with the objective of promoting unity, local culture, and tourism potential of the region. The event brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on strengthening Bhaderwah’s identity and fostering sustainable tourism.
The programme was graced by the presence of the Hon’ble Chairman, District Development Council (DDC) Doda, Shri Dhananter Singh Kotwal, MLA Bhaderwah Shri Daleep Singh Parihar, Vice Chairperson DDC Smt. Sangeeta Bhagat, and DDC Member Shri Thakur Yudhvir Singh. A large number of local youth, tourism stakeholders, adventure enthusiasts, NGOs, social activists, senior citizens, religious leaders, public representatives, and prominent citizens of Bhaderwah also participated in the meet.
Highlighting the objective of the programme, BATA President Shri Manish Kotwal emphasized the need for collective and coordinated efforts to promote Bhaderwah—popularly known as Mini Kashmir—as a hub of adventure and eco-tourism. He underlined that such initiatives help preserve local culture and heritage while generating employment and self-employment opportunities for the local youth through sustainable tourism practices.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries assured that the issues, suggestions, and inputs raised during the interaction would be examined and acted upon in a time-bound manner. They reiterated their commitment towards the holistic development of Bhaderwah, particularly in strengthening tourism infrastructure and adventure tourism, and called for active community participation to project Bhaderwah as a prominent tourism destination on the national map.
