Office of the Chief Veterinary Officer(CVO) in Peren district has been shut down by the Kejanglwa Village Council on Friday, May 24 due to the non-compensation of land by the government.
Speaking to Dimapur 24/7, the chairman of the village council said that in 2006 and 2009 respectively, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and sale deed agreements were signed, but till date the compensation money has not been paid by the government and also despite numerous representations and appeals the Grade 4 jobs available in the department are not given to the recommended candidates from the village.
The council chairman accused the government of totally ignoring the people of the village by neither providing them compensation nor employment.
The council chairman said that they had submitted a complaint letter to the department on April 29 with a deadline of 20 days asking the government to appoint the two candidates recommended by the village council.
He said that the CVO's office shall remain shut down until the government appoints them.
The village council further stated that if their needs are not met, they will go ahead and shut down other government offices and even the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Peren district.
