| In a surprising turn of events in Delhi, a wedding was called off after the groom decided to entertain guests by dancing to the popular 90s Bollywood song Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai. Witnesses stated that the groom joined in on the dance at the request of his friends. However, the bride’s father took offence, feeling that the act went against his family’s values. Enraged by what he saw as inappropriate behaviour, he immediately decided to cancel the wedding.

Although the groom tried to clarify that it was just a harmless joke, the bride’s father stood his ground, insisting that the groom’s behaviour was inappropriate and disrespectful. His unwavering stance surprised many, transforming the celebratory event into an unexpected event.

As the news spread on social media, users had a mixed reaction to the incident. Many joked about the situation, with one comment stating that the father-in-law made the right choice, or else he would have had to witness such performances daily. Another quipped that it wasn’t an arranged marriage but rather an "elimination round." Some sympathised with the groom, humorously suggesting that he might develop a phobia of music after this experience.

| The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) honoured exceptional performances in Indian cricket at the prestigious Naman Awards yesterday in Mumbai. The ceremony recognised cricketers across multiple categories, celebrating achievements in both domestic and international formats.

The Col. C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred upon Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar for his immense contribution to Indian cricket over a career spanning 24 years. Jasprit Bumrah received the Polly Umrigar Award for Best International Cricketer (Men) for the third time, following a stellar 2024 where he claimed 71 wickets in 13 Tests. Smriti Mandhana was named Best International Cricketer (Women) for the fourth time after finishing 2024 as the highest run-getter in ODIs.

The Mumbai Cricket Association won the Best Performance in BCCI Domestic Tournaments of 2023-24 for securing multiple titles, including the Ranji Trophy, Senior Women's T20 Trophy, Vijay Merchant Trophy, and the Women's U19 One Day Trophy. R. Ashwin, who retired from international cricket, was felicitated with a special BCCI Award.

| The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning about dense fog conditions in isolated areas of the Northeast, including Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. | Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in her eighth consecutive Budget presentation, announced the establishment of a ₹1 lakh crore Urban Challenge Fund aimed at transforming cities into growth hubs and enhancing infrastructure. The fund will support creative redevelopment projects and improve water and sanitation systems, aligning with the government’s long-term urban development strategy outlined in the July Budget.

The fund will finance up to 25% of the cost of bankable urban projects, with the remaining funding—at least 50%—to be sourced from bonds, bank loans, or public-private partnerships (PPPs). To initiate the scheme, ₹10,000 crore has been allocated for the 2025-26 financial year.

This initiative is expected to provide significant relief to cities struggling with infrastructure challenges, including Dibrugarh, which faces persistent artificial flooding and waterlogging during the monsoon season. Additionally, the city contends with erosion caused by the Brahmaputra River, making improved urban planning and water management critical for its future development.
