एहि सूर्य सहस्त्रांशो तेजोराशे जगत्पते।
अनुकम्पय मां देवी गृहाणार्घ्यं दिवाकर।।

सूर्य की लालिमा जब नदी के घाटों से घुलकर सुनहरे रंग बिखेरती है, तब कच्चे घाटों की मिट्टी से उठती सोंधी खुशबू पूरे वातावरण को पवित्र कर देती है। मिट्टी के दीयों की झिलमिलाती रोशनी, गन्ने की मीठी महक और अर्घ्य के जल में झलकती भक्ति, आस्था और अटूट विश्वास प्रदर्शित करती हैं।

चार दिवसीय छठ महापर्व उत्तर भारतीयों की आस्था का प्रतीक है। यह शरीर की तपस्या और आत्मा की प्रार्थना है। हमारे जीवन का हर पहलू उस सूरज की तरह है, जो हर दिन ढलकर भी उम्मीद की किरणें छोड़ देता है।

यह पर्व प्रकृति, शुद्धता और कृतज्ञता का संगम है। जहाँ हम डूबते सूर्य को अर्घ्य देकर धन्यवाद करते हैं क्योंकि वह नव जीवन, नव आरंभ की ओर बढ़ने का इशारा करता है। इस पर्व का समापन उगते सूर्य को अर्घ्य देकर किया जाता है। उन्हें नमन करते हैं उस ऊर्जा के लिए जो जीवन का आधार है, उस प्रकाश के लिए जो अंधकार मिटाता है,‌ और उस गर्माहट के लिए जो सभी प्राणियों में उम्मीद जगाती है।
