சர்வதேச ஒலிம்பிக் கமிட்டி (ஐஓசி) எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவித்த இந்திய மல்யுத்த வீரர்களை டெல்லி போலீசார் வார இறுதியில் நடத்திய விதத்தை கண்டித்துள்ளது, இது "மிகவும் கவலை அளிக்கிறது" என்று கடுமையாக வார்த்தைகளில் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளது.

"வார இறுதியில் இந்திய மல்யுத்த விளையாட்டு வீரர்கள் நடத்தப்பட்ட விதம் மிகவும் கவலைக்கிடமாக இருந்தது. மல்யுத்த வீரர்களின் குற்றச்சாட்டுகள் உள்ளூர் சட்டத்தின்படி நடுநிலையான, குற்றவியல் விசாரணையின் மூலம் தொடரப்படும் என்று IOC வலியுறுத்துகிறது," என்று IOC அறிக்கையில் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

"அத்தகைய குற்றவியல் விசாரணைக்கான முதல் படி எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது என்பதை நாங்கள் புரிந்துகொள்கிறோம், ஆனால் உறுதியான நடவடிக்கைகள் வெளிப்படுவதற்கு முன் இன்னும் பல படிகள் பின்பற்றப்பட வேண்டும். இந்த செயல்முறை முழுவதும் இந்த விளையாட்டு வீரர்களின் பாதுகாப்பு மற்றும் நல்வாழ்வு முறையாக பரிசீலிக்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்று நாங்கள் கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறோம். விரைவாக முடிந்தது."

ஒரு மைனர் உட்பட பல பெண் மல்யுத்த வீரர்களை பாலியல் ரீதியாக துன்புறுத்தியதாக பிரிஜ் பூஷனை கைது செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று மல்யுத்த வீரர்கள் கோருகின்றனர்.

ஐஓசி தனது அறிக்கையில் மேலும் கூறியது, "குற்றச்சாட்டுகளின் ஆரம்பத்திலிருந்தே, ஐஓசி யுனைடெட் வேர்ல்ட் மல்யுத்தத்துடன் (யுடபிள்யூடபிள்யூ) நெருங்கிய தொடர்பில் உள்ளது, இது ஏற்கனவே நடவடிக்கைகளை எடுத்துள்ளது.

"இந்தியாவில் மல்யுத்த விளையாட்டின் ஆளுகை தொடர்பான இந்த சிக்கலை தீர்க்க UWW ஐ IOC தகுதிவாய்ந்த விளையாட்டு அதிகாரியாக ஆதரிக்கிறது. இந்திய மல்யுத்த சம்மேளனத்தின் (WFI) தலைவர் தற்போது இல்லை என்று UWW மூலம் எங்களுக்குத் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. கட்டணம்.

IOC இந்திய ஒலிம்பிக் சங்கத்தை (IOA) "விளையாட்டு வீரர்களைப் பாதுகாக்கவும், WFI இன் தேர்தல்கள் திட்டமிட்டபடி நடைபெறுவதை உறுதிசெய்யவும், சர்வதேச கூட்டமைப்பாக UWW இன் விதிமுறைகளுக்கு ஏற்பவும்" தேவையான நடவடிக்கைகளை எடுக்குமாறு கேட்டுக் கொண்டது.

புதிய பார்லிமென்ட் கட்டடத்தை பிரதமர் நரேந்திர மோடி திறந்து வைக்கும் நேரத்தில், மகளிர் மகாபஞ்சாயத்துக்கு மல்யுத்த வீரர்கள் அழைப்பு விடுத்திருந்தனர்.

"இதுவரையிலான விசாரணைகளின் முடிவுகள் இல்லாதது" குறித்து தனது ஏமாற்றத்தை வெளிப்படுத்திய UWW செவ்வாயன்று, மல்யுத்த வீரர்களின் நிலை மற்றும் பாதுகாப்பு குறித்து விசாரிக்க விளையாட்டு அமைப்பு ஒரு சந்திப்பை நடத்தும் என்று கூறியது.

WFI தேர்தல்கள் குறித்து, மல்யுத்தத்தின் சர்வதேச நிர்வாகக் குழு தனது அறிக்கையில், "... UWW, IOA மற்றும் WFI இன் அட்-ஹாக் கமிட்டியிடம் இருந்து அடுத்த தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட பொதுச் சபை பற்றிய கூடுதல் தகவல்களைக் கோரும். ஆரம்பத்தில் இருந்த 45 நாள் காலக்கெடு இந்த தேர்தல் சட்டசபையை நடத்துவது மதிக்கப்படும்.

"அவ்வாறு செய்யத் தவறினால், UWW கூட்டமைப்பை இடைநிறுத்த வழிவகுக்கும், அதன் மூலம் விளையாட்டு வீரர்கள் நடுநிலைக் கொடியின் கீழ் போட்டியிட வேண்டிய கட்டாயம் ஏற்படும். இந்த ஆண்டு தொடக்கத்தில் புதுதில்லியில் திட்டமிடப்பட்ட ஆசிய சாம்பியன்ஷிப்பை மீண்டும் ஒதுக்குவதன் மூலம் UWW இந்த சூழ்நிலையில் ஏற்கனவே ஒரு நடவடிக்கை எடுத்துள்ளது என்பதை நினைவூட்டுகிறது."

ஏப்ரல் 27 அன்று, WFI இன் அன்றாட விவகாரங்களை இயக்குவதற்கும் தேர்தலை நடத்துவதற்கும் இரண்டு பேர் கொண்ட தற்காலிகக் குழு அமைக்கப்பட்டது. வாக்குப்பதிவு நடத்த இன்னும் 11 நாட்களே உள்ள நிலையில், 34 நாட்களாகிவிட்டன.

Arrests made in multi-crore trading scam involving auditing firm Govche India Pvt Ltd

CHENNAI: Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on Friday arrested two people including a suspended functionary of Tamil Nadu BJP, K Harish, who was one of the directors of Aarudhra Gold trading private limited, which allegedly cheated investors to the tune of 2,400 crore. He had been absconding for more than 10 months.

They also arrested J Malathy of Tondiarpet who was an additional director with the firm. Police investigations revealed that Harish alone had collected over 210 crore from investors in Kancheepuram district, where he is based, and had purchased more than 30 properties in the names of himself and his relatives.

Malathy was incharge of Vellore, Katpadi and Trichy branches. Harish, who claimed to be a national level boxer, was appointed as the secretary of sports and skill development cell of the state BJP on June 2, 2022, two
months after a case was registered against him.

Police said the company had collected money from more than one lakh depositors between September 2020 and May 2022, promising them interests in the range of 25% to 30% for their deposits.

Cheated, the depositors lodged a complaint following which the EOW registered a case under several sections of IPC including 420 (cheating and sections of the Banning of I-Jnregulated Deposit Schemes (BUDS) act and sections of the Tamil Nadu Protection of Interests of Depositors (TN PID)
act.

In all, 21 people were booked and eight top executives of the firm including directors — Baskar, Mohanbabu, Senthil Kumar, Pattabiraman — and managers — Rafiq, Ayyappan — and two agents were arrested.

Meanwhile Registrar of Companies and his team of Indian Corporate Law Service officers from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs conducted a search and seizure operation on Friday in the registered office of the audit firm, Govche India pvt ltd, which runs a web portal Kanakkupillai.com on
West Karikalan Street, Adambakkam.

They also searched the house of Kiruthiga at Velachery, who signed and certified the fake documents of incorporation for registration of around 1,500 companies across India including Aarudhra gold and their group of companies.

In another incident of crime against women in the country, a delivery partner of quick-commerce startup Zepto was arrested for allegedly molesting a woman in Mumbai earlier this week.

The accused, named Shahzade Sheikh, reportedly recorded the woman’s video while handing over the parcel she had ordered on the Zepto grocery app platform. When the woman protested against this act, the accused tried to enter her house and abused her, the police said, as per news agency ANI.

The aggrieved woman shared her experience on social media platforms, raising questions on Zepto’s customer service. As per her statement, she was saved only by the timely presence of her security guard.

An unverified Tweet by the aggrieved woman also alleged that Zepto’s local team tried contacting her asking to “communicate and compromise”.

Meanwhile, responding to the incident, Zepto said, “The safety of customers is a priority and we take such matters with utmost seriousness. We are partaking in a thorough investigation of the incident with the local law enforcement bodies.”

“We condemn any such behaviour and will work with authorities to ensure stringent action is taken based on facts,” the startup added.

This incident of sexual harassment by a Zepto grocery delivery partner has once again raised serious questions about the steps the tech-enabled B2C platforms take to ensure customer safety. The incident took place days after a Rapido bike driver was arrested for allegedly ra**ng a female passenger in Bengaluru.

The Bengaluru police informed the media earlier this week that the man, who worked as a bike driver on the ride-hailing platform Rapido, along with his friend r***d the 22-year-old woman who was on her way to visit a friend’s house.

In another such incident in September, a Zomato delivery agent allegedly molested a 19-year-old woman after delivering food to her in Pune.

It is pertinent to note that while ride-hailing tech platforms have SOS buttons or options to trigger alerts to a user’s emergency contacts in situations of distress, it is different in the case of the delivery platforms. Ecommerce, quick commerce, and food delivery platforms allow customers to share their experience via ratings and comments after the deliveries are completed or by raising complaints with customer care executives through their help section, which is usually a time-consuming and lengthy process.

Meanwhile, with the rising internet pe*******on and growing smartphone adoption in India, ecommerce and delivery platforms are aggressively expanding their market as the number of online shoppers is also increasing. As per a Bain & Company and Flipkart report, at least 350 Mn people might be engaged in eretail by 2025.
