For Japanese cleaning seems like a way of life. Just before New Year, every household in Japan usually clean their homes, every room including toilets and verandas. In that same vein, visiting and cleaning graveyards to rest one’s deceased dear and near one’s or ancestor’s soul is called ohakamairi in Japanese (haka meaning grave). It can be done anytime, usually on the death anniversary or Obon.

Guess what! Japanese schools have no janitors. This is because the students and staff do all of the cleaning themselves, on almost every school day, usually for about 10 or 15 minutes. It is considered a very important part of the hidden curriculum, a way to show gratitude to the school itself, a team-building exercise, and a part of learning how to be a grown-up.

Jadav "Molai" Payeng (born 31 October 1959) is an environmental activist and forestry worker from Majuli, popularly known as the Forest Man of India. Over the course of several decades, he has planted and tended trees on a sandbar of the river Brahmaputra turning it into a forest reserve. The forest, called Molai forest after him, is located near Kokilamukh of Jorhat, Assam, India and encompasses an area of about 1,360 acres / 550 hectares. In 2015, he was honoured with Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in India. He was born in the indigenous Mising tribe of Assam.

Imphal: The CBSE has revoked its affiliation from 25 schools in strife-torn Manipur after the state government informed the central board that it had not issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) to these schools.
The development came days after Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan informed the Parliament during the ongoing Lok Sabha session that Manipur achieved a zero dropout rate for the year 2021-22 for Class 10.
Following requests from schools in Kuki-Zo dominated Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts, CBSE had given its affiliation to these educational institutions.
A release issued by the joint secretary of Manipur’s school education department, Anjali Chongtham, on Tuesday said CBSE has “withdrawn the affiliation, which was recently granted” to the 25 schools with “immediate effect”.

A Lonely Holiday Season, Christmas 2023 | Can't be silent; Can't be silenced It's been a while since we have celebrated a normal Holiday season of Christmas and New Year. We are yet again faced with a silent Holiday season and muted Christmas and New Year, 2023. Just as the pandemic, COVID-19 barely left our doors and some form of normalisation starts in the world, an uglier and even more tragedies struck humanity. While the cold barrel of the gun still rules the roost, we as a normal human being should be, can't help but feel the growing warmth of love, faith, and hope in this season. Wherever we are, whatever we do, may we all find inner peace and solace in these trying times.

Moreh, Manipur is the latest epicenter of violence. Predominantly a Kuki-Zo town, this border town is a lucrative economic town that the Meiteis would like to control. Meitei commandos & radical groups members latest adventure, incursion has resulted in more internally displaced people, the Kuki-Zo ethnic groups (pic).

This radical Meitei arsonist is enjoying a bonfire lit from Educational Certificates of internally displaced Kuki-Zo tribals. He is reported to be under internal investigation by @indigo.6e Flight ✈️ management where he have been employed as a ground security personnel. According to @Hohoi_Mate (on X, Twitter), he (Sintha L0urembam) have been entrusted to safeguard flights from Kempegowda Airport, Bengaluru by Indigo, it seems. Recent evidence suggests his involvement with #ArambaiTenggol, causing immense suffering to the Kuki-Zo community in Moreh, the latest epicenter of Manipur violence. A distressing video has surfaced, showing him burning certificates of Kuki-Zo students. "Is it prudent to maintain trust in an individual who seems radically inclined?" (sic). (Mate, 2023).
