If you have a sharp eye for detail and a passion for producing high-quality content, this role is for you!
Key Responsibilities
- Edit and correct mechanical errors, inconsistencies, and infelicities in grammar, usage, syntax, punctuation, and content following publisher guidelines or style guides
- Work closely with authors and publishers to ensure books meet the needs of the intended audience
- Liaise with authors to review copy-edited files, clean up reviewed files, and ensure timely delivery
- Maintain quality standards as defined for the role

Skills Required
- Expertise in copy editing.
- Familiarity with style guides (e.g., Chicago Manual, APA, MLA).
- Excellent English language skills.
- Strong communication abilities.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to guidelines.

Experience: 1 to 4 years of experience in copy editing, particularly in Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) and STEM content
Educational Background: Any graduate

Newgen KnowledgeWorks is looking for a talented South African designer to join our team on a 12-month, part-time contract for a growing trade publishing house.
Your Role
- Design original front covers and refine them based on author and publisher feedback.
- Create full cover designs from finalized front covers.
- Develop marketing materials and an annual catalogue for trade shows
- Update and revise backlist covers as needed
- Collaborate with project managers and the wider production team
- Produce original artworks and illustrations to enhance designs
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Proven experience in book cover design.
- Knowledge of commercial book cover trends and accessibility best practices.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.

Job Details
• Contract: 12 months
• Hours: Part-time (21 hours a week, ideally spread over 4 days)
• Location: South Africa (Remote)
