In a bid to spread a message of peace and communal harmony, around 200 residents of riot-hit Jahangirpuri on Sunday took out a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in the area with shops and houses in the locality hoisting the tricolour to commemorate the event.

The yatra started at around 6 p.m. with both Hindu and Muslim residents seen holding the tricolour and chanting slogans such as “ Hindu Muslim Sikh Isai Aapas Me Hai Bhai Bhai” and “ Bharat Mata Ki Jai”.

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant and assistant coach Pravin Amre were both fined 100% of their match fees, with Amre also handed a one-match ban, following the team's defeat to Rajasthan Royals on Friday. Capitals' pacer Shardul Thakur was also fined 50% of his match fee, for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.
Pant admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.7 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction, while Thakur admitted to a Level 2 offence under Article 2.8. Amre admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.2.

Abdul Hamid and his family recount the harrowing events of April 12, when a mob of over 60 Hindutva goons entered his home and threatened to kill him

The effects of the communal clashes in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone on Ram Navami, April 10, were felt even in a village several kilometres away.
In the Hindu-majority village of Kukdol, some 8 km from Khargone, the home 58-year-old Abdul Hamid and his family was descended upon on April 12 by a Hindutva mob, more than 60 strong, alleging that the family had been harbouring rioters.

Hamid, who moved to Kukdol from Khargone ten years ago after losing sight in both his eyes, recounted the incidents of that night to The Wire, wherein the members of his family were beaten with stones, threats of r**e were made to his deaf and mute daughter, and his wife’s clothes were ripped from her body.

“Hamne baccho ko bola dua padh lo yeh aakhri waqt hai, ab ham nahi bachenge (I told my children, say your prayers. These are out last moments),” Hamid said.

MNS president Raj Thackeray on Saturday urged the state government to remove loudspeakers on mosques, failing which his party activists would relay the ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ from temples. “There is no need for a loudspeaker to converse with the Almighty. Religion should be restricted to homes,” he said.
Raj also urged the state government to allow police to inspect mosques and madrassas in Mumbai for security reasons. “Policemen have details of what goes on in mosques,” he said. Raj was addressing MNS’ Gudi Padwa rally at Shivaji Park. If the state fails to act, MNS workers will be compelled to use loudspeakers to recite Hanuman Chalisa from temples, he said.
