Ayodhya Deepotsav 2024: A Flicker of Political Ambition in a Dimming Spotlight

Ayodhya, India – As the BJP attempts to light the political landscape with the grandeur of Deepotsav 2024, the irony couldn’t be clearer. Despite losing the Ayodhya-Faizabad Lok Sabha seat in the last Parliamentary election, the party seems determined to keep the flames of devotion—and perhaps electoral aspirations—burning bright.

This year, they celebrated by lighting over 2.5 million oil lamps, setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest display of lamps, though one might wonder if they’re attempting to illuminate their own fading popularity.

Last year's festival attracted a staggering turnout, but this time, the crowd seems a bit dimmer, with participation figures reflecting more of a flicker than a flame. While the BJP insists that this year's budget has soared to ₹4 crore (approximately $480,000) to outshine last year's ₹3 crore, one can't help but notice that the enthusiasm of the people appears to have dimmed along with the party's electoral prospects.

With approximately 10,000 participants performing 'diya rotation' in perfect synchronization this year, it’s almost as if they were turning the wheels of a political machine that’s struggling to keep up with the realities of grassroots sentiment.

The irony is rich: as the party spins tales of unity and devotion, the actual engagement of the populace suggests a growing disinterest.

The lights along the Sarayu River may twinkle beautifully against the evening sky, but they also serve as a stark reminder of the BJP’s attempts to bask in the glow of religious fervor while grappling with the shadows of recent electoral losses.

In a quest for political gain, are they trying to convince the public that 2.5 million lamps can overshadow the will of the voters?

As the celebrations unfold, one can only watch with a mix of amusement and skepticism. Perhaps the next festival will need to include a new record for the most elaborate political spin—because in Ayodhya, the lamps might be lit, but the political game seems to be flickering out.

अब अदालत में लहसुन की सुनवाई

मुझे आज लेबनान पर हो रहे हमलों पर लिखना था, लेकिन लिख रहा हूँ लहसुन के बारे मे। हमारे देश की अदालतें इतनी दरियादिल हैं कि वे एक और यदि लोकसभा में विपक्ष के नेता राहुल गांधी की नागरिकता के मामले की सुनवाई करतीं हैं तो दूसरी तरफ लहसुन पर आयी याचिका की सुनवाई भी करतीं हैं और वो भी चीनी लहसुन के मामले की।

लहसुन को हमारे यहाँ लशुन भी कहते है। लहसुन हालाँकि प्याज जाति का कंद है किन्तु प्याज की गाँठ होती है और लहसुन की कलियाँ। अदालत में विवाद उस लहसुन का है जो हमारा नहीं बल्कि चीन का है ,और चीनी लहसुन पर भारत सरकार ने रोक लगा रखी है ,फिर भी चीन का लहसुन भारतीय बाजारों में इफरात में बिक रहा है।

मामला दिलचस्प है इसलिए मैंने दूसरे तमाम विषयों को तिलांजलि देकर लहसुन पर लिखा शुरू कर दिया। प्रतिबंध के बावजूद चीन के खतरनाक लहसुन के धड़ल्ले से देश में आने पर इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट की लखनऊ पीठ ने सख्त रुख अपनाया है। कोर्ट ने खाद्य सुरक्षा आयुक्त और कलेक्टर को कार्रवाई करने का आदेश दिया है। फरियादी की ओर से पेश किए गए चीन के लहसुन को प्रदेश के खाद्य सुरक्षा एवं औषधि प्रशासन विभाग के पेश हुए अफसर से सील करवा दिया। अदालत ने 15 दिन में इसकी जांच रिपोर्ट मांगी है।

इलाहाबाद का हाईकोर्ट सचमुच सम्वेदनशील है। हर मामले में संवेदनशील है। राहुल गाँधी की नागरिकता के मामले में भी और चीनी लहसुन की बिक्री के मामले में भी। आपको ये जानकर हैरानी होगी की इलाहबाद हाईकोर्ट में लंबित मामलों की संख्या 10.74 लाख है। देश में 25 हाईकोर्ट में से इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट इस मामले में सबसे आगे है। ये राष्ट्रीय न्यायिक डाटा ग्रिड (एनजेडीजी) के आंकड़े हैं।

बहरहाल लहसुन पर लौटते है। इलाहबाद हाईकोर्ट ने कहा कि खाद्य सुरक्षा आयुक्त और लखनऊ के डीएम हेल्पलाइन नंबर जारी करें, जिससे लोग चीन के लहसुन की बिक्री की शिकायत उस पर दर्ज करवा सकें। कोर्ट ने इस नंबर पर मिलने वाली शिकायतों पर सख्त करवाई करने के निर्देश दिए हैं।

न्यायमूर्ति राजन रॉय और न्यायमूर्ति ओम प्रकाश शुक्ल की खंडपीठ ने यह आदेश स्थानीय अधिवक्ता मोतीलाल यादव की जनहित याचिका पर दिया। मोतीलाल ने खतरनाक चीनी लहसुन की बिक्री की प्रकाशित खबरों को याचिका के साथ लगाकर इसपर सख्त प्रतिबंध लगाने का आग्रह किया था। फरियादी का कहना है की देश में 2014 से ही इस लहसुन की बिक्री प्रतिबंधित है, इसके बावजूद बाजारों में यह खुलेआम बिक रहा है।

लहसुन भले ही हमारे यहां औषधीय माना जाता है लेकिन कुछ लोग हैं जो इसे हाथ भी नहीं लगाते, उनके लिए लहसुन अस्पृश्य है। हमारे वैद्य जी कहते हैं कि लहसुन में रासायनिक तौर पर गन्धक की आधिक्य होती है। इसे पीसने पर ऐलिसिन नामक यौगिक प्राप्त होता है जो प्रतिजैविक विशेषताओं से भरा होता है। इसके अलावा इसमें प्रोटीन, एन्ज़ाइम तथा विटामिन बी, सैपोनिन, फ्लैवोनॉइड आदि पदार्थ पाए जाते हैं।अक्सर लहसुन खली पेट खाने की सलाह दी जाती है। लहसुन को लेकर कहावते उतनी नहीं हैं जितनी प्याज को लेकर है। प्याज को काटा जाता है, लहसुन को छीला जाता है।

लहसुन की पैकेजिंग प्रकृति ने मक्के के भुट्टे की तरह बहुत आकर्षक तरीके से की है। जाहिर है कि ये विशेष कंद है अन्यथा इसे धरती के भीतर आलू की तरह उगने के लिए न छोड़ दिया जाता ?

कहते हैं कि लहसुन एक दक्षिण यूरोप में उगाई जाने वाली प्रसिद्ध फसल है। भारत में लहसुन की खेती को ज्यादातर राज्यों में की जाती है लेकिन इसकी मुख्य रूप से खेती गुजरात, मध्यप्रदेश, उत्तर प्रदेश, राजस्थान और तमिलनाडु में की जाती है। इसका 50 प्रतिशत से भी ज्यादा उत्पादन गुजरात और मध्यप्रदेश राज्यों में किया जाता है।

हमारे यहां एग्रीफाउंड वाइट (जी. 41 ), यमुना वाइट (जी.1 ), यमुना वाइट (जी.50), जी.51 , जी.282 ,एग्रीफाउंड पार्वती (जी.313 ) और एच.जी.1 प्रजाति का लहसुन मिलता है ,लेकिन हमारे पड़ौसी देश चीन ने हमारे लहसुन के सामने अपना लहसुन खड़ा कर दिया।

आपको शायद पता हो या न हो लेकिन भारत में साल 2014 से ही प्रतिबंधित किया गया ,लेकिन चाइनीज लहसुन भारतीय मंडियों और खुदरा बाजार में धड़ल्ले से बेचा जा रहा है।

जिस लहसुन को देसी समझकर आप अपने घर ले जा रहे हैं और दाल-सब्‍जी में तड़का मारकर खा रहे हैं, वह सिंथेटिक रूप से खतरनाक कैमिकल्‍स से बना फंगस वाला चाइनीज लहसुन हो सकता है। चीनी लहसुन का अवैध व्यापार एक लम्बे अरसे से जारी है। चीन अक्सर नेपाल और बांग्लादेश के रास्ते इसकी यहां डंपिंग करता है।

इन दोनों ही देशों के साथ भारत लहसुन का ड्यूटी फ्री व्यापार करता है. भारत पहुंचने वाला चीनी लहसुन कई बैक्टीरिया और बीमारियों को साथ लेकर पहुंचता है. ये लोगों की सेहत पर असर डालता है। हाल में एक वायरल वीडियो में दावा किया गया है कि चीन में लहसुन ‘सीवर के पानी’ में पैदा होता है. इसे सफेद दिखाने के लिए आर्टिफिशियल तरीके से ‘ब्लीच’ किया जाता है।

हकीकत ये है कि भारत में करीब 32.7 लाख टन लहसुन का उत्पादन होता है. भारत में सबसे ज्यादा लहसुन का उतपादन मध्य प्रदेश में होता है। हालांकि चीन में उत्पादन गिरने के बावजूद वह दुनिया में नंबर-1 है।

चीन में हर साल करीब 2 से 2.5 करोड़ टन लहसुन का उत्पादन होता है, चीन के मुकाबले भारत का लहसुन थोड़ा छोटे आकार का होता है। वहीं इसका रेट चीन के मुकाबले काफी कम है।

चीनी लहसुन की ग्लोबल मार्केट में 1250 डॉलर प्रति टन कीमत है, तो वहीं भारतीय लहसुन 450 से 1000 डॉलर प्रति टन तक मिलता है। इसलिए भारत गरीब से लेकर अमीर देशों तक के हिसाब से लहसुन की क्वालिटी उपलब्ध करा पाता है। चीनी लहसुन की मांग अधिकतर अमेरिका और यूरोपीय देशों में है, जबकि भारत मलेशिया, थाईलैंड, नेपाल और वियतनाम को लहसुन का बड़े पैमाने पर निर्यात करता है।

बावजूद इसके भारतीय चमकदार बगुलामुखी रंग की दीवानगी के फेर में पढ़कर चीनी लहसुन खरीद लाते हैं। दुर्भाग्य ये है कि जिस तरह हमारी सरकार चीनी घुसपैठ रोकने में नाकाम है उसी तरह लहसुन की घुसपैठ के मामले में भी नाकाम है । प्रतिबंध के बाद भी भारत में चीनी लहसुन की उपलब्धता इसका प्रमाण है । खुद प्रधानमंत्री के गृह राज्य गुजरात में चीनी लहसुन की घुसपैठ है । गुजरात के लहसुन उत्पादक इसके खिलाफ लामबंद भी हैं। अब जब चीनी लहसुन चुनावी मुद्दा बनेगा, तब शायद इस मामले को सरकार गंभीरता से ले ।

China's central bank reduced the standing lending facility interest rates by 20 basis points from the July levels

BEIJING, Sept. 27 -- China's central bank has reduced the standing lending facility (SLF) interest rates by 20 basis points from the July levels according to a report released on Friday by news agency Xinhua.

According to the report, the overnight, seven-day and one-month rates were lowered to 2.35 percent, 2.5 percent and 2.85 percent, the People's Bank of China (PBOC) announced.

"The SLF, introduced by the central bank early in 2013, serves as a channel to meet the liquidity needs of financial institutions. These institutions can take out SLF loans from the central bank, using qualified bonds and other credit assets as collateral," China Daily reports.

Also on Friday, the PBOC cut the reserve requirement ratio for financial institutions by 0.5 percentage points and lowered the seven-day reverse repo interest rate by 20 basis points, enhancing policy support to solidify economic operations
