J&K school board orders cessation of academic activities in Falah-e-Aam run institutions

SRINAGAR, June 14: The Jammu and Kashmir school education department on Tuesday ordered cessation of academic activities in schools run by Falah-e-Aam (FAT), an affiliate of banned Jamaat-e-Islami, officials said here.

The order comes in the backdrop of probe done by the State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir Police which alleged gross illegalities, outright frauds, mass-scale encroachment of Government lands by FAT.

The FAT, according to the officials, is an affiliate of radical body Jamat-e-Islami (JeI) which is proscribed by Ministry of Home Affairs under the provisions of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.

The officials alleged that JeI mostly draws its sustenance from the vast network of FAT schools, seminaries, orphanages, pulpits of mosques and other charities and added that such institutions played a destructive role in large-scale unrests of 2008, 2010 and 2016 bringing huge miseries to common people and forcing them for shutdowns by threat, intimidation and street violence.

Interestingly, almost all FAT schools numbering over 300 have been found to be existing on illegally-acquired government and community land wherein land was occupied by coercion, at gunpoint as well as colluding with revenue officials who made wrong entities in revenue documents by committing fraud and forgery, the officials said.

The SIA has already registered FIR in such matter and the agency is expanding the ambit of these investigations to unearth all such frauds, unauthorised entities and forgeries that have been been committed in last 30 years at the behest of terrorists and for other considerations which include monetary gratifications, the officials said.

FAT Issued Clarification , demands , revocation of unjustified and unconstitutional order

Srinagar 14 June: Falah Aam Trust Jammu and Kashmir has issued Clarification regarding the order Issued by Government
Falah Aam Trust is running very few schools which are still affiliated to it as after the Trust was banned by the government in 1990,most of the schools de-affiliated from it and only 18 schools remained affiliated to the Trust.

The Trust moved the hon'ble High Court in 1990 through a writ petition filed by the famous lawyer of the Supreme Court Mr. K. K. Venogopal and got an order staying the ban-order and these 18 schools continued their educational activities for some years but with the passage of time, 11 schools either stopped functioning or got de-affiliated from the Trust and only seven (7) schools continued their affiliation with the Trust.

These Trust schools provide education to its students according to the government approved and JKBOSE recommend Syallibi and nothing objectionable is taught in these institutions which can attract any punitive action at all.

The Trust got amazed on seeing the news of order issued by the Board for cessation of educational activities in these purely academic institutions run by the Trust. The Trust is a Non-political entity created for the promotion of education in this educationally backward region and it has no political or any unlawful ambitions at all.

In the past the Trust has provided tremendous services in the field of education without any discrimination of cast, colour or creed and mostly the students from the downtrodden section of the society has benefitted out of it. The Trust is not affiliated to any religious organization including the now banned Jamaat-Islami, J&K.

This is a baseless allegation that the Trust is an affiliate of the banned organization of Jamaat-Islami, J&K.

It has been time and again made amply clear that the Trust is an independent government recognized and registered Non-political entity having no affiliation with any political or religious organizations but still then these false allegations are levelled against the Trust to defame it and thereby cause an irreparable loss to its reputation as an excellent educational institution meant for the imparting of knowledge to all according to the modern trends.

The order issued by the Board of Secondary Education is quite unjust and without any justifiable cause or reasons.

The Trust vehemently demands the revocation of this unjustified and unconstitutional order depriving hundreds of students both male and female from getting education from these purely educational institutions which tantamount to the violation of the fundamental right of education of the affected students as well as the Trust.
