🌟 Celebrating Success in Education & Empowerment 🌟

What an incredible evening it was! 🌄✨ We held a small get-together in honour of two remarkable and inspiring young leaders, Basmati Birua and Siddhartha Pareya, from a remote village in Jharkhand. 🙌🏽📚💪

Basmati, with her indomitable spirit, shared her journey of running a school in forrest, 100 km away from Jamshedpur. Her dedication to providing education in such a unique setting truly left us all in awe. 🌳🏫

And Siddhartha, change maker and a talented Archer, regaled us with the incredible achievement of his two girl students who have secured jobs with the Indian Army! 🏹🎯 What an inspiring example of breaking barriers and achieving dreams.

We were privileged to gather with friends who are equally passionate about education and dedicated to tackling India's social challenges head-on. Together, we engaged in thoughtful conversations and exchanged ideas, all while learning invaluable lessons from these young leaders. 🗣️💡

In a recent ruling, Delhi High Court has said that PoSH Act is applicable even if the complainant and harasser work in different departments, else it would strike at the very root of the statute, its ethos, and philosophy.

“Equalizing of the sexes in every aspect of life is, therefore, a constitutional imperative. The working environment is required to be as safe and secure for women, as it is for men. Even an apprehension, by a woman, that her safety might be compromised or endangered in the workplace is, therefore, abhorrent to our constitutional ethos,” the order stated. There can be no compromise on objectives of the PoSH Act.

U R Rao?
Well I am not.

I just happen to be one who was chosen to be moderator at the launch of Sri UR Rao's super-inspiring life story in Bangalore!
Since the movie Rocketry the Nambi effect is doing the rounds these days one hopes this name may ring a bell too.

These are the perks of my journalist job that I truly cherish. Every assignment takes me to a new subject, new learning. This time it was of a man who the Nation needs to know more of... but doesn't 😞

And for those who don't know, who was he? Aakhir kaun?

Well for starters, Udupi Ramachandra Rao is the man you could thank when India started getting more and more landline phones after the time you had to wait for years to get your own tring-tring home. Strides in communication education that were enabled by satellite launches in India.

For those familiar with or keen to know about India's incredible Space program story, UR Rao was chairman of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) during his tenure:

The Almighty Wikipedia says "Under his guidance, beginning with the first Indian satellite "Aryabhata" in 1975, over 18 satellites including Bhaskara, APPLE, Rohini, INSAT-1 and INSAT-2 series of multipurpose satellites and the IRS-1A and IRS-1B remote sensing satellites were designed, fabricated and launched for providing communication, remote sensing, and meteorological services."

It was a fabulous experience for me to steer talk about the Sat Man while I sat left to India's 'Moon Man', Sri Mylswamy Annadurai, called so for his role as project director of Chandrayaan 1 & 2. (I hope admin approves of the picture. 2 more pictures hope to share in comments).

Sri Annadurai recalled and the book too speaks of Mr Rao's candid nature sense of humour and direct frank interactions over many crucial matters with prime ministers such as Mrs Indira Gandhi. Sri Rao came from such humble background with his food caterer father and housewife mother in South Canara that the 8-rupee fee at the Banaras Hindu University that the brilliant young Ramachandra won in the 1960s he could not afford. From there to being the only Indian to have his picture displayed in the satellite hall of fame is extraordinary.

Like I said in the beginning of the program that was held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, just because they are/were modest we simply don't celebrate our heroes enough!
