I still remember 1st Nov 2014 the day I reached SRC railway station with my father. 1st Nov is Kannada Rajyotsava & the entire city was decorated with flowers & flags. Honestly I was not aware about the occasion (being an outsider) & I thought what a beautiful city this is full of Trees & this mesmerizing weather well the decoration was nothing less than a cherry on the cake. Loved it!!
Like any job seeker I used to travel in BMTC for all job interviews & one day not sure why I was confident enough to showcase my Kannada speaking skill to bus conductor. After purchasing the ticket I asked him Estu (How much) & he responded in Kannada which I couldn’t understand then he gave a sweet smile & said how much I have to pay in Hindi to me. Despite huge language/culture gap I never felt like a outsider here. Oh & this incident made me learn the basic Kannada too...I was sipping filter coffee at HSR layout & then this HR calls me to confirm about my job. I was jumping at that moment with happiness & some tears & still remember how the cafe uncle sweet enough came to me & asked If I am fine or not. As they say, Namma Bengaluru is not just a phrase, it's an emotion.
One fine day while catching up with some friends of friends at Madiwala Bus stop for some reason I met the love of my life.. We are poles apart, but he made endless efforts to be there with me. His company relocated him to Delhi but after a week he came back to Bangalore all because for me. That's when I realised what we had between us was special. Our dating days are all about Bangalore Days, from expensive date night at 13th floor or SKY Lounge to BF at Vidyarthi Bhavan/MTR, street foods at VV Puram & the month-end crisis of having meals in Udupi/Krishna Sagar. I have lived here for almost 7 years & plan to stay forever. This city gave me the most important person of my life, this city gave me a job, & this city taught me the meaning of being independant. How can you not love a city like this at all."
