District Judiciary Budgam and District Legal Services Authority Budgam inaugurated Held Desk for upcoming National Lok Adalat.

In a significant initiative aimed at promoting legal literacy and amicable dispute resolution, District Judiciary Budgam and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam inaugurated a Help Desk for the general public on the eve of the upcoming National Lok Adalat, scheduled for 14th December 2024.The inauguration ceremony was held under the esteemed guidance of Mr. Om Prakash Bhagat, Chairman DLSA Budgam and Principal District & Sessions Judge Budgam, and under the supervision of Ms. Nusrat Ali Hakak, Sub-Judge/Secretary of DLSA Budgam
The Help Desk has been strategically established at the Lawns of ADR Center District Court Complex, Budgam, and is staffed by para-legal volunteers (PLVs) of DLSA Budgam. The Help Desk is designed to offer technical and procedural support to litigants and the general public. It will remain operational until 14th December 2024, providing information and guidance to encourage participation in resolving disputes amicably. This initiative underscores the DLSA's commitment to fostering a culture of settlement and enhancing public awareness of legal rights and remedies.
Mr. Om Prakash Bhagat, Chairman DLSA Budgam, inaugurated the Help Desk in the presence of the learned judicial officers of the District Court Budgam. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized the importance of such initiatives in bridging the gap between the judiciary and the public. The Help Desk also aims to support the ongoing pre-Lok Adalat sessions, which commenced on 1st December 2024 and will continue until 14th December 2024.

The establishment of the Help Desk aligns with the broader mission of the National Lok Adalat to promote alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and reduce the burden on the judiciary. This proactive step by the District Judiciary and DLSA Budgam highlights their commitment to serving the public and advancing the cause of justice.

Qazi Irfan Assumes Charge as New Regional Transport Officer in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 11 (JKNS): Qazi Irfan (JKAS) has officially taken over as the new Regional Transport Officer (RTO) of Kashmir on December 11, today.

“Following his assumption of office, Qazi Irfan chaired an introductory meeting with employees, reviewing the overall functioning of the office,” the details available with the news agency JKNS reads. It reads as he highlighted the significance of teamwork and cooperation in ensuring effective public service delivery.

Srinagar, 10/12/2024: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar, in collaboration with DLSA Budgam, under the aegis of the J&K Legal Services Authority, observed World Human Rights Day at Central Jail Srinagar today. The programme held under the esteemed guidance of Mr. Jaffer Hussain Beg, Chairman of the DLSA/Principal District & Sessions Judge Srinagar, & Mr. Om Prakesh Baghat, Chairman DLSA Budgam/Pr. Distirct & Sessions Judge Budgam and under the supervision of Ms. Nusrat Ali Hakak, Sub-Judge/Secretary of DLSA Srinagar,
The event was graced by presence of Ms. Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA Srinagar/Budgam, Mr. Shahbaz Hussain Bhat, DySP Central Jail Srinagar, along with officials of Central Jail Srinagar, Officials &Legal Aid Defence Counsels of DLSA Srinagar, and para-legal volunteers of DLSA Budgam. The programme aimed to raise awareness among jail inmates about human rights and the importance of legal aid in safeguarding these rights.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Nusrat Ali Hakak emphasized the significance of World Human Rights Day in promoting dignity, equality, and justice. She encouraged inmates to understand and exercise their rights within the framework of law and highlighted the vital role of the legal system in protecting those rights.
Mr. Shahbaz Hussain Bhat, DySP, Central Jail emphasized the jail inmates about the significance of human rights and their universal application, even within correctional facilities. He spoke about the importance of upholding dignity, ensuring fairness, and recognizing the fundamental rights of every individual, regardless of their circumstances.
Ms. Tasneem Kausar, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel, and Ms. Urba Rashid, Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel, served as resource persons during the event. They conducted informative sessions to educate the inmates on various aspects of human rights, the importance of legal aid, and the mechanisms available to address grievances effectively.
The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ms. Azra Bashir, an official from the District Legal Services Authority, Srinagar, who appreciated the efforts made to create awareness and encouraged continuous collaboration for the betterment of society.
The event underscored the commitment of the DLSA to ensuring access to justice for all, including those in incarceration. By observing World Human Rights Day, DLSA reaffirmed its dedication to creating awareness and fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.
