JUST IN: NH-10 Handed Over to NHIDCL - Darjeeling MP Thanks Minister Gadkari and PM Modi

Darjeeling MP has today thanked Road, Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for handing over NH-10 repair and maintenance to the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd.

Reacting to the news, he said, "This is a landmark moment, which will ensure that the people from our Kalimpong, Darjeeling and Sikkim region will benefit due to the central agency NHIDCL taking care of this critical NH-10 infrastructure. With this we can ensure a timely repair, maintenance and expansion of NH-10, which will benefit the local people, students, tourists, trade, and especially our drivers community including taxi drivers, bus drivers and truck drivers."

Taking a jibe at the WB PWD's failure to ensure timely repair of NH-10, he said, "I realized a long time ago that the WB PWD, lacks the expertise and financial resources to keep an important highway connecting border regions of Kalimpong, Darjeeling, Dooars and Sikkim to the rest of India.

I have said time and again that the WB PWD should hand over the portion of NH-10 they are controlling to NHIDCL, so that the people from our region too can get access to better roads. Finally, a major concern of our region is being addressed."

Thanking the PM and Highway Minister, he said, "I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Nitin Ji and Hon'ble Prime Minister Sh, Narendra Modi ji, for kindly acceding to our requests, and prioritizing the development of our region."

"I assure the people, I am working tirelessly to ensure that in a similar manner, all our issues, concerns and aspirations too will be fulfilled in due course of time" he assured.

चक्रवात डाना बंगालको खाडीमा बनेको छ र मौसम विभागले यसले पश्चिम बंगाल र ओडिशाको तटीय क्षेत्रहरूलाई प्रभावित गर्ने चेतावनी दिएको छ। अनुमान अनुसार चक्रवात २४ देखि २६ अक्टोबरको बीचमा भू-भागमा प्रवेश गर्न सक्छ। यसका कारण दक्षिणी पश्चिम बंगाल र तटीय क्षेत्रहरूमा भारी वर्षा हुने सम्भावना छ। ओडिशामा पनि २३ अक्टोबरबाट वर्षा सुरु हुने अनुमान छ।

यस चक्रवातले सहरहरूमा बाढी ल्याउन सक्ने खतरा छ, विशेष गरी तटीय र पहाडी क्षेत्रहरूमा भूस्खलनको जोखिम छ। यसले गर्दा मानिसहरूलाई सुरक्षित रहन र मौसम अपडेटहरूमा ध्यान दिन सल्लाह दिइएको छ
