Resistance members set an ambush for the Combine in the abandoned outskirts of City 17.

A very short explanation behind this custom Combine model for my fellow obsessive weirdos. As stated in the intro it's 1 year after the events of HLA and 4 before HL2; and so I wanted to create something that could be the missing link between the wallhammer and HL2 shotgunner. That is the long and short of it. I hope I managed to find a good balance with the design and it comes off as "believable" given the context.

This project itself started out as a "Hey let's make a very short trailer for my custom Combine model" so it obviously grew into the most complex project I've done so far. In all honesty it did not came together as good as I imagined, but I'm still incredibly proud with what I managed to cobble together here. If anything, visually I think this is the best I've gotten out of Source 2 so far. I realize gray isn't everyone's cup of tea. I like it very much.

YouTube compression unfortunately really didn't like the low-light + uniform color pallette interior scenes and they look quite horrible in places. I did tests with several different codecs, bitrates etc and these are the best results. I'm looking into options to host my videos somewhere where I can provide the uncompressed files, but due to how big these videos are I haven't yet landed on a solution.

I'd like to thank everyone who helped me out on this project. Firstly, my current and past patrons and everyone else who donated through other channels. You helped fund a lot of what went into this and lifted a lot of stress for not uploading squat for 4 months.

This film is created in real-time 3D in out-of-the-box Unity 2019.2. WiNDUP was created on standard computers by setting strict rules about poly-count and what features they could afford to use. CGI 3D Animated Le Gouffre Short Film by Lightning Boy Studio - Carl Beauchemin, Thomas Chrétien, David Fores

An inspiring tale about friendship, sacrifice and conquering the impossible.

Le Gouffre is the first animated short film produced and directed by Lightning Boy Studio, a young creative team based in Montreal. The film tells the story of two spirited travelers who come across an incredibly wide chasm on their journey and decide to build a bridge to cross it. Released in February 2015, the project had first gained a lot of attention following the huge success of its Kickstarter campaign, which allowed the creators to finance the movie's post-production. Many were impressed by the passion and determination of the small team of three animators, who spent more than two full years creating the 10-minute film.

As of now, Le Gouffre has been selected in more than 60 festivals around the world and won nine awards, four of them for "Best Animated Short".

THE TEAM-

Lightning Boy Studio was born in 2012 out of a shared passion : to tell great stories. The three founders met in animation school in 2009 and have dreamed ever since to be able to work together on projects of their own. Le Gouffre is the result of their first collaboration. AFTER THE RAIN | Omeleto
A shepherd lives alone in a secluded valley, accompanied only by his flock of sheep and his loyal dog. The shepherd has a remarkable ability: he shears the sheep and creates clouds with the wool, which rain upon the valley, keeping it verdant and fruitful with plants and nature.

But when the shepherd passes away, the valley begins to become barren, and the sheep are in desperate need of shearing. The dog must find a way to continue the shepherd's work -- or risk the decimation of his home.

Created by students from the French animation school MoPA -- Valerian Desterne, Juan Olarte Zuniga, Carlos Osmar Salazar Tornero, Lucile Palomino, Juan Pablo de la Rosa Zalamea, Celine Collin and Rebecca Black -- this wise, gentle animated short uses its serene, whimsical visuals, storytelling clarity and an impeccable score to weave a beautiful parable about nature, balance, loyalty and legacy.

It charms the eyes and ears with its soft, rounded shapes and beautifully clear colors, rendering both characters and settings with sensitivity, grace and keen attention to detail and gesture to communicate emotion.

Whether it's in how the shepherd pets the dog or how the canine wags its tails, the love between the pair is well-worn and palpable, as is the dog's grief and bewilderment when the shepherd passes on. Yet there's also soft, good-spirited humor to be found, as when the sheep puff up with their exuberantly overgrown wool.

And like the best of animation, which uses its ability to imagine anything to create magic beyond realism, there's also a lovely sense of surprise and delight in its flights of fancy, as when viewers watch wool become life-giving clouds, with a whimsical lightness and buoyancy.

But it also doesn't shy away from the problems and dilemmas found even in this little corner of paradise, and when it becomes clear that the dog must find a way to continue his master's work.

Animated Short Film: "Spring"
Please check out this animated short film "Spring" about the story of a shepherd girl and her dog, who face ancient spirits in order to continue the cycle of life. This poetic and visually stunning short film was written and directed by Andy Goralczyk, inspired by his childhood in the mountains of Germany.

The Spring team used the development version of Blender 2.80 for the entire production, before the software was in official Beta even. As for all of Blender’s Open Movies, the entire production process and all its source files are being shared on the production platform Blender Cloud.

Award Winning** CGI 3D Animated Short Film "Le Gouffre" by Lightning Boy Studio | CGMeetup CGI 3D Animated Le Gouffre Short Film by Lightning Boy Studio - Carl Beauchemin, Thomas Chrétien, David Fores An inspiring tale about friendship, sacrifice and conquering the impossible. Le Gouffre is the first animated short film produced and directed by Lightning Boy Studio, a young creative team based in Montreal. The film tells the story of two spirited travelers who come across an incredibly wide chasm on their journey and decide to build a bridge to cross it. Released in February 2015, the project had first gained a lot of attention following the huge success of its Kickstarter campaign, which allowed the creators to finance the movie's post-production. Many were impressed by the passion and determination of the small team of three animators, who spent more than two full years creating the 10-minute film. As of now, Le Gouffre has been selected in more than 60 festivals around the world and won nine awards, four of them for "Best Animated Short".
