While the world is advocating for the inclusivity of all, Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport authority has taken a backseat in regards to respecting the diversity of Tripura. With no Kokborok public announcement system at place, the airport which incorporated lots of indigenous symbolism in its new terminal turns out to be a sham due to its unpopular policy to ignore aspects such as language.

The politics of the state is revolving around the indigenous population in the name of their welfare and the upliftment of their livelihood, over their language and culture also recently, in the name of honouring the place in the name of rulers of the land. but the political parties real concern is only on the votes of the local indigenous people. Once the elections are over, it's all evident that many issues are ignored from being resolved.

A similar incident is visible as the naming of the airport was the pre-poll promise of the ruling government in the honour of the last independent ruler of the Tripura Kingdom His Highness Bubagra Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya as the Bir Bikram Airport of the capital city Agartala but the mother tongue Kokborok of the Local indigenous population is neglected again.

Tripura citizens and travellers are questioning as if the local language of other states is mandatory for announcement in various platforms like train station and airports in the time of arrival and the departure of the trains and flights but why not in the state of Tripura; is it the Kokborok language is not the language of India? Kokborok is the official language of Tripura since the year 1979 and spoken by almost one third of the state's population.

Earlier, the CPI-M indigenous wing Gana Mukti Parishad (GMP) has slammed the ruling government for removing the Kokborok language as the medium of announcement in the Airport’s. while addressing a press conference, GMP leader Radha Charan Debbarma have said: “Since the present government is in power, we have observed that Kokborok is no longer utilized as the medium of announcement at Airport. This is not acceptable.

However, it is worthy to mention it was during the Left CPIM era the naming of the various institutions was changed to a particular name erased the heritage of Tripura. It was expected better from the current government to fulfil all the gaps that was left but it seems they only try to cover the problems not the solutions to problems.

As the state has had witness many protests for induction of the Kokborok in the 8th scheduled with the roman script in the constitution of India but the real effort of the government is not visible as the Government is pushing Hindi as the official language of the union and also for States according to Uniform civil code (UCC).

While the three-day North East Festival was underway from July 29 to 31 in Bangkok showcasing the cultural diversities of Northeast India; Tripura couldn't care less to participate in it nor reach out.

Delegates of all Northeastern Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Mizoram, Nagaland and Manipur except Tripura took an active part to present cultural activities such as songs, dance, fashion events, state specific exhibitions, northaest cuisines and colloborative art show. To promote tourism and products, the festival also had exhibition of MSME products and business to business meets.

Union Minister of State for External Affairs Rajkumar Ranjan Singh that The bilateral trade between India and Thailand reached an all time high of around USD 15 billion in 2021-22. This is a good sign of opportunities for extending investment from both sides in the reigion. State government of Nagaland, Mizoram, Assam and Meghalaya all have come forward to showcasing what they can offer.

Policymakers of the northeastern states Chief Ministers and Deputy CMs along with Union Ministers attended the programme with the aim to seek prospects of India's Act East Policy. Tourism officials of each state have discussed on cooperation to develop across the northeastern states.

Tripura however have missed on such a opportunity to seek regional cooperation in development of it's state tourism sector. No visible effort by the Tripura Tourism Department could be seen to participate in a platform that could have initiated tourism opportunities. Like before Tripura still shys away from exhibition of the rich indigenous Tipra unique culture and art in international platform.

Many observers have pointed these are the main reasons why Tripura as a state remains in the shadow unacknowledged with all of it's rich history, heritage, culture and potential tourism growth. Being fixated to just holding small programme like the irony Bangladesh Film Festival in Aguli just in February to holding the Book Festival like Kolkata usually does, it has stayed isolated from others. Which brings the state to trying to replicate being Dhaka and Kolkata, it has failed to achieve a unique identity if it's own.
