THE VALLEY OF PSALMS 23 OR WADI QELT IN ISRAEL
Also known as the Valley of the Shadow of Death mentioned by David in his famous Song in the Book of Psalms..PSALM23
Wadi Qelt is mentioned in the Bible in a few different contexts:
1. It is believed to be the location of the Jericho Road in the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37). In this well-known parable, a man is traveling from Jerusalem to Jericho when he is attacked by robbers. A priest and a Levite pass by him without offering help, but a Samaritan stops to care for him. Wadi Qelt is a possible location for this road due to its historical importance as a major trade route between Jerusalem and Jericho.
2. The prophet Elijah is said to have taken refuge in the Wadi Qelt during the time of a severe drought and famine. In 1 Kings 17:1-7, Elijah is instructed by God to flee to the Wadi Qelt, where he is sustained by ravens bringing him food until the drought ends.
3. The Wadi Qelt is also associated with King David, who is said to have hid in its caves while fleeing from King Saul. In 1 Samuel 23:14-29, David and his men evade capture by Saul by finding refuge in the strongholds and caves of the Wadi Qelt.
