**THE WAXED LEMON IS OPEN TO SUBMISSIONS**

We are now accepting submissions for Issue 9 from Monday Feb 10th to Sunday March 2nd. PLEASE NOTE: We have a new email address for all submissions - [email protected]

Take some time out for yourself to enjoy 'Glass Poems: Poetry Workshop for Adults' led by Grace Wilentz presented by The Hugh Lane Gallery on Saturday 7 December 2024 from 11am-4pm.

‘Glass Poems’ is a poetry workshop inspired by the leadership of Sarah Purser in establishing An Túr Gloine (‘The Tower of Glass’), which was instrumental in the resurgence of the art of stained glass in Ireland. Led by poet Grace Wilentz, this workshop will touch on Sarah Purser’s life and legacy, before visiting the Gallery’s Stained Glass Room.

We'd like to extend our warmest congrats to previous Waxed Lemon contributor Eilin De Paor on winning the BEST POETRY award at the An Post Irish Book Awards.

Congrats also to another previous Waxed Lemon contributor Claire Lise Kieffer who publishes her debut collection of short stories TENTERHOOKS in Feb 2025.

Eilín's poem "Bábóg Bróige" and Claire-Lise's poem "Nursing Wolves" were featured in Issues 3 and 4 respectively. The Waxed Lemon is proud and honoured to continue to support new Irish writing and the Irish writers of the future.

Congratulations to Fiona Ennis on her well-merited success!!!👏👏👏👏

The Arts Office congratulate former Molly Keane Creative Writing Award winner Fiona Ennis from Waterford, who has just won the Goldenberg Prize for Fiction, a New York-based award. The judge was Wayetú Moore, whose work has been listed as a New York Times Notable Book and one of Time magazine's ten best non-fiction books of 2020.
Well done Fiona on keeping the Waterford flag flying.

SpeakEasy is in a mere seven days, and we’re delighted to bring you Scott McKendry as our featured poet. Scott is from North Belfast. His poems have appeared in The Poetry Review, The Stinging Fly, Virginia Quarterly Review and elsewhere.

Scott's pamphlet, Curfuffle (Lifeboat, 2019), was a Poetry Book Society Autumn Choice. In 2019, McKendry won a Patrick Kavanagh Award. In 2024 he was chosen by Paul Muldoon as Ireland Chair of Poetry’s Poet of Promise. His debut collection, GUB, is out now with Corsair (Little, Brown).
