Eirplay is a lobby and support system to encourage the playing of Irish made music on Broadcast and other media. Eirplay is FairPlay.
Canada, Australia, France, have a mandatory 35% locally produced music on their airwaves. Ireland has had a few 'guidelines' e.g. 20,25%. As best we can determine for now, the compliance rate here is at best 5%. So the songwriting, recording, and all spin off industries could be easily made up to 7 times bigger, by simply implementing the guidelines or the new EU directive of 35%. This is a no brainer. A sleeping goldmine ready to be woken up

Developments:- Our list of Radio Stations, DJs, Programme Directors , has been substantially reviewed and refreshed. It is now at about 100 Email addresses. This appears to be substantially more than other lists in the field, either free or paid.

We have decided to build the Eirplay 'brand' . Our list will receive just ONE mailshot. No follow ups. The list will not be given to anyone without us screening the Tracks. This will be done by (hopefully) a volunteer panel. Random and Anonymous. They will provide feedback and mentoring if asked.
We will require those who succeed in accessing our list to add a credit :- Distribution assisted by Eirplay.
The list recipients will hopefully appreciate over time that Eirplay only help send approved tracks, once. Our aim here is to avoid drowning them with multiple unasked for emails, while inserting real value into the ones we do send.

IMRO BOARD ELECTION
VOTE DANDAN FITZGERALD I would like the opportunity to bring the following issues right into IMRO.
1 Airplay obviously. Currently we see something like 5-7% Irish Produced content. The EU has a Mandatory 35% EU Content. We are the the only English singing country... Do the Math

2 Help Original Live Music. Venues have to pay for a Licence to run gigs. This obviously comes out of the Performers fee. If the Performer is playing their own songs, IMRO pays most of this fee back to them. Qué IMO this practice should be ended. A small encouragement to Promote Original Live Music.

3 Archiving. After Songwriters leave us, Internet presence quickly diminished. I would like to see a Song Bank. Songs by Thom Moore, Noel Brasil, Fergus O' Farrell (Interference) Nic Christopher......... There will always be many great singers looking for great songs.
