RYANAIR'S LATEST SCAM TO AVOID PAYING REFUNDS!
Travel agents who paid for tickets on behalf of clients, out of the travel agents own funds, are now being told that we have to get our clients to fill out ID forms before they will make refunds. We were only told this when we went looking to know what was holding up the refunds (after waiting for online chat for over an hour).
We paid for the tickets ourselves, not using our clients money, so we are the purchasers and entitled to get our money back, just like everyone else. Ryanair cancelled the flight. We are entitled to 100% refund. That's simple consumer law. We want our money back, so we can give our clients their money back.
But Ryanair are now refusing refunds and demanding the client fills out a form and they will only deal directly with them. This is blatantly illegal but Ryanair know they can get away with this "blackguarding", as they have been doing throughout this pandemic.
It now looks like they have been blocking all travel agents refunds without telling anyone. This a is typical Ryanair scam and a very nasty, cynical exercise in holding on to clients money for yet another few months - against the legislation that cover such things. They will spin this to say they are protecting clients form "unscrupulous" travel agents but it is pretty obvious here who the unscrupulous one is.
We have been in constant contact with our clients since this pandemic started. We have refunded everyone who wanted refunds. We continue to badger airlines for refunds but this is the kind of skulduggery Irish travel agents have to put up with.
It is illegal practice and we intend to continue fighting for our clients' refunds.
