Three primary school classes in East Meath are set to become published authors this year, releasing their own original works of fiction based on local history. Funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media under their Commemorations fund, Meath County Council Library Service appointed renowned Author Brian Gallagher as Writer-in-Residence to work with the schools on a project inspired by the destruction of a railway bridge on the main Dublin to Belfast line before the Battle of Drogheda....

The new school building at Enfield Community College has received approval from the Department of Education for enabling works to proceed. The secondary school opened in 2020 with just 33 pupils on the old ESB premises which is now the community hub. It is currently in modular temporary accommodation on the permanent site and currently has 535 pupils enrolled. The new building will have a capacity of 1,000 post-primary pupils and four dedicated classrooms for children with special educational needs....

They are being asked to enter their top tunes - as Gaeilge - for the Pan Celtic International Festival 2025, which launches on Wednesday Dec 4th. 250 local guests gathered at Dunboyne Castle on Sunday 17th of November for a celebratory evening of community, fashion, shopping and Christmas festivities. The evening was in aid of nearby Rathregan National School, Batterstown, Co Meath who are fundraising to build an astro pitch for the children, in addition to supporting sporting and cultural activities for the school children. The evening raised over €35,000 thanks to the many generous supporters and sponsors....

In early November, members of Enfield Rathmolyon Men's Shed presented planter boxes to St Mary's Primary School in Enfield. The parish organises two very active 'sheds' for women and men, in the community. The Windtown school transport service in Navan were allocated €50,000 through the Dormant Accounts Fund which was set up to support disadvantaged people across the country. The Dormant Accounts Fund received a €44.8 million investment for projects nationwide and fund measures that address economic, social, or educational disadvantage and disability support. Meath County Council announced a budget of €232 million for 2025, an increase of over €23.3m (or 11.2%) from this year’s budget. Meath County Council’s yearly budget has grown exponentially over the decade with 2020 funding being as low as €139m. MCC Chief Executive said housing was a top priority shown in its over €5m increase in its budget from €65m this year to €70.8m for 2025 with the council having a target to deliver 1,525 additional social housing units up to 2026....
