Debut Album for Sirkut Son Released Today!
Really proud of this one. This album is basically a musical product of both mine and John Rooney's love of 80's horror and genre movie's and the Vintage synthscapes that accompany them!
The album was recorded and produced entirely in Bikini Island Studio and was generally just great fun to work on. especially getting to put the studio's collection of vintage synths to work at what they do best!

Mixing down a cover of Massive Attacks Unfinished Sympathy.
This project is a recording is by Michelle Daly Music
It was recorded completely in lockdown. The musicians where spread out in various locations throughout Berlin. Recorded with whatever means each musician had recording wise, they recorded their own parts separately at home in complete isolation from each during lockdown.
Once all the recording was finished, Michelle put all the files together in Protools then sent on to me to Mix here in Dublin.

Mixing down a track from an album I’m producing for
Production of this album started long before any notions of a lockdown but it was still produced entirely remotely simply due to it being easier to organise. The tracks were started at home in . The guitars and bass were recorded directly into the apogee one interface, and the vocal was recorded with a Neumann tlm 103 also into the apogee one.
The session was then sent on to me to work from there. Firstly the drum samples were replaced to give better consistency throughout the album.the midi from the demo was piped out to analog synths in the studio, in this case it was mostly my Korg poly6 and a little Juno 106. the guitars and bass parts were then re-amped. The guitar parts were re-amped through a Vox AC 15 and for the Bass I used a Old Marshall JCM 800 Bass Series. The beauty of re-amping on this track was that it allowed for some pretty unorthodox effects on the bass before the amp, in this case it was a effect sequencer called effectrix from used in the breakdown.
the original vocal recording was used with fairly minimal fx with the exception of the vocoder. For the vocoderpart I used waves morphoder with a Juno synth part used as the modulator.

Music Production And Mixing Studio
A Mixing, Mastering and Music Production Studio In Portobello, Dublin.
The Studio is the product of a 20 year obsession with collecting and hoarding all kinds of Audio Gear, Instruments and various sonic contraptions.
Over the years the studio has gravitated towards combining the sound and vibe of older analog gear with the precision, convenience and innovation of new digital technology.
At the Heart of the studio’s Mixing set up is a Neve 8816 Analog Summing Mixer to add the weight and character of mixing in the analog world.
This is combined with array of Analogue outboard processing ranging from Industry standard, to Boutique Company’s along with some DIY Units hand built in the studio. The Outboard processing includes IGS EQP-2 Stereo tube Mastering EQ (stereo pultec) GSSL Masterbus Compressor (DIY Unit Hand built in house) , Hand Build Hardware Stereo Tape Simulator , Neve 5043 Bus Compressor/Limiter, Universal Audio LA-610 , along with an assortment of reverbs, Tape Delay’s, Filter’s and fx Boxes to really keep things interesting.
On The digital Audio Conversion side of things, the mix setup is fed by a Antelope Orion Digital Conversion feeding 16 channel of pristine audio out to the outboard and summing mixer, with an additional 8 channels coming via adat from an Apogee Ensemble for extra sends to processing and fx.
The returning mix from the Neve summing mixer is then captured by a Mytek Stereo 96 ADC for 2 channels of Mastering grade conversion to ensure nothing is lost in the transition back to digital.
The Studio is acoustically treated to have a frequency spot as close to flat as possible, yet maintain a natural and balanced sound throughout the room. Monitoring consists of a pair of Digidesign RM2s (PMC Designed) and a Pair of Genelec 1030A’s
