Ger Casey spoke at the Catholic Voice conference in Limerick yesterday and says this about it ..
Yesterday (24 June 2023) I was privileged to be invited to a Conference organised by the Catholic Voice in Limerick. The presentations I heard were stimulating, challenging, robustly orthodox, and all were enthusiastically received by the very large attendance.
During lunch, I enjoyed a conversation with His Eminence, Raymond Cardinal Burke, which consisted largely of an exchange of anecdotes derived from our respective experiences of being at the School of Philosophy of the Catholic University of America, he as a student in the late 60s and early 70s and I as a junior member of staff in the early 80s.
But, excellent as the presentations were, and enjoyable as my opportunity to converse with Cardinal Burke was, the most striking and memorable thing about the Conference for me was simply witnessing the large number of young people in attendance, and most especially, the number of young priests.
I came away from the Conference, more hopeful about the future of the Church than I have been for quite some time.
