Stating the obvious I know, but we ALL get hung up on our follower number and every post we are constantly looking at how many likes it got.
Now, if you're looking to improve brand awareness and engagement, looking at these metrics is a useful guide. But if you're looking for leads and sales, these numbers won't mean anything if they aren't converting into calls, messages or purchases.
This is where a lot of frustration can come from when the number of likes don't translate into a number of sales. People may like your content, but they might not buy from you. Equally people might not 'like' your content, but they will contact you to find out more about your products or services. Depending on what your goal was, will depend if that piece of content was a success. If you're looking for brand awareness and engagement, the first result is fine, bonus if they make a purchase. If you're looking to make sales, you want the second result and then the number of likes is not as important.
Make sure you are clear on the goals you want to acheive with your social media marketing, so that you can tailor your content to work towards those goals. Make sure you know which metrics translate into an accurate measurement for those goals. If you're not acheiving the results you want, it's time to try something new, a new content format or maybe a new CTA, remember social media is all about experimenting to see what works.
Are you clear on your goals for your social media?
