"Youth Arts provides young people with opportunities to express themselves courageously through their creativity"

An empowering day today at National Youth Council of Ireland Creative Access Seminar discussing the importance of youth work, the barriers those in underrepresented communities face in accessing these services and how we take action and move forward with progress.

A pleasure to be involved.

I'm grateful to Virgin Media Television and Screen Ireland for their ongoing support of this project and my continued campaign for adequate PA supports.

It's hard believe that it's been just over a year since we wrapped filming. To the immensely talented crew and everyone involved in making this documentary what it is, thank you very much.

Fighting for the right to live the life I want to live continues to have a detrimental impact on mine and my families lives.

Grateful for the ongoing support of the Irish Media and those working with me in highlighting the issues I've been facing over the past two-and-a-half years. This continued through my collaboration with Adrianna Wrona for The Irish Independent and their Budget 2024 coverage.

The work continues to access the support I need to live the life I want.

Delighted and grateful to have had the opportunity to have been a part of a panel discussion on Diversity and Inclusion in the Irish Media and Arts with such genuine, incredibly talented people last week.

Conversations such as these and the actions that must come from them, have to be at the heart of the Irish Media Landscape going forward into the future.

05/10/2023

A video to celebrate just over a year working with Doireann! So many special memories. Working with Entertainment on RTÉ, the premiere of my own short film with Virgin Media Television and Screen Ireland, going to a gym for the first time in years and as you can see, so much more!

Not only have I had experiences that I will cherish for a long long time in the past year, I have also learned a huge amount about myself. For that I am incredibly grateful.

More work to be done and adventures to come!

Dan

L.I.F.E. (Live. It. Fully. Everyday). is available now on The Virgin Media Player. Link below. Delighted to finally share this with you all!

To Daniel Lloyd, Sinead Stimpfig and all the team Virgin Media Television and Screen Ireland thank you for your belief and trust in me and for providing me the opportunity to share a story that affects so many alongside such talented company.
The work continues to source more PAs and have control over the support I receive.

To my incredible crew Aoibhín Murphy Stephen Conkey, Mark Monks and Rachel Ryan thank you for your constant patience and understanding throughout this process. I feel incredibly grateful to have been able to make a project so personal amongst great friends.

To Hilary Fennell Darragh McNicholas Dylan Beacon and Dublin South FM thank you for providing me with a stable creative outlet to generate this concept during a time where there was anything but stability. You allowed me to pursue my passions at a time when that looked like it needed to be paused.

As tends to be the case with these things, there is a village worth of people behind me getting me to where I am today. This has always started with my family and recently found its newest recruit in my PA Doireann.

Looking forward to the next steps. Grateful for you all.

Love Always,

An updated column on my continued fight for adequate PA Supports in the The Irish Times this morning.

In order to secure support that works for me and that I control, the work continues.

Daniel Airey, who has cerebral palsy, has found a personal assistant very important to living his life, but that provision of these services is insecure and that PAs need to be valued more highly

The Model

There are Three types of Model.
1. A model that is utilised as a reference point for the design of something new.
2. A model that walks runways and showcases new designs for us to wear or make uniquely ours.
3. A model that encourages us to live honest, positive lives through the example they set for us. This is also known as a role model.

On reflection, each of these models are role models in themselves. This is because each one provides us with it's own blueprint to work from. In living the lives we lead, we are required to take pieces from each blueprint that these models provide in order to help us craft our own unique piece of art. It is only when we bring these three models together that we see a bigger piece of art. This is our lifestory.

A heartfelt thank you for all the feedback on my content over the past few weeks. Swim with Richard in particular, was a project very close to my heart.

Thank you to this incredible cast and crew for bringing it all together.

Since filming in 2021, there have been some further developments.
In recent months, Richard completed 10 Kilometres in the pool for the first time since the swim 25 years ago.

More projects coming soon!

From national radio to local radio, thank you to Dublin South FM for giving Darragh McNicholas and I the opportunity to discuss this on a weekly basis for the past few months (more to come on Monday from 8-9pm)

From radio to television. Thank you Elaine Crowley, Simon Delaney and all the team at Ireland AM Virgin Media Television for facilitating further discussion on such an important issue.

Thank you to Michelle Byrne and the Uplift - People Powered Change family for guiding me in the art of the petition and people power

To the powers that be. Neale Richmond and Catherine Martin T.D thank you for the work you put into this on my behalf. I look forward to working with you further on developing a broader solution that impacts thousands around the country.

This is a selection. The truth is there is an army behind me making this happen. I am grateful to every single one of you.
