First trailer for a new film I'm currently working on. The film is co-funded by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council through a heritage grant. 'Cockney Rebels' traces the connections between my home town of Dún Laoghaire and the 1922 assassination of British Field Marshal, Sir Henry Wilson in London by the IRA. It is an event that is often recognised as having led to the outbreak of the Irish civil war. I'm very grateful for the knowledge, research and time provided by the participants - Irish Times journalist and author, Ronan McGreevy, former Republican Prisoner and commentator, Danny Morrison, Dún Laoghaire historian Brian Smith, Jason McLean of Deans Grange Cemetery and for the music provided by Clare Walsh from Comhlatas in Monkstown. I hope to release the finished film in December. Keep an eye out for updates.
Happy St Patricks Day! Keep safe and enjoy yourselves. ☘️☘️☘️🇮🇪

BALLYBRACK FILM PROJECT
Excited to announce that funding has been acquired and production has begun on my latest collaboration with my good friend Keith Kelly - the story of the place we both call home - Ballybrack or The Brack. We'd like to thank Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and The Igo Inn Ballybrack for co-funding this project and Dorans Pharmacy, Core Credit Union Ltd. and Patrick O'Donovan & Son Funeral Directors for the additional financial support to get this project off the ground.
While this film will look briefly at the history of Ballybrack and its environs the primary focus will be on the local authority estates that were built on farmland in the 1970s and 80s. So if you have memories, photos or videos of moving in to Ballybrack, growing up, going to school in prefabs, raising a family, the big snow of 1982, the Big Tree, the barley fields, headin' to Killiney beach with your mates, youth club discos, band competitions or whatever - we'd love to hear from you.
