Many people don’t realise the knock-on effect of supporting local businesses until they meet someone who owns a "mom and pop shop" or start their own business, many of whom have taken a huge knock during this pandemic. “Supporting local” is about so much more than not buying from the nearest chain supermarket or big restaurant chain. What it does is allow these local businesses to reinvest into their local economy, supporting another local business, which in turn supports another local business, and this cycle can change communities. So when you stay at a small bed and breakfast rather than a big hotel chain run by a multimillionaire, or eat at a family-run restaurant rather than a franchised eatery, or buy your produce from a farmer-run co-op rather than a supermarket it does make a difference.

It’s been a lovely project: transcribing the lush, nurturing environment of the Little Academy Preschool on to an online platform. The classrooms, playground and gardens are beautiful and play a starring role on the colourful, bright site, which hopefully does this gorgeous nursery school in Irene, Centurion, justice.

Wishing Kate Marshall and the rest of the team at Little Academy Preschool all the best as the school continues to grow and thrive, as do the children who pass through these doors.
