So sorry to hear this. RIP Nichola. 🙏

Down Syndrome Ireland is devastated by the news that our CEO, Nichola Aylward, has passed away.

Nichola has been an incredible part of Down Syndrome Ireland for many years, having worked with the Waterford Branch as a committee member and officer for over a decade, as well as the National Treasurer for board, before joining as CEO in May of this year.

Everyone who met Nichola will agree that she was an incredibly passionate, caring person who strived to improve the lives of people with Down syndrome and tirelessly support their families.

We are thinking of all our members affected by this sad news and would like to pay our respects to Nichola's family, and in particular, her daughter Elizabeth.

Today is International Day of Disabilities 2024, and we are proud to support it. Our own motto is clear - Disability does not mean inability!

Its up to all of us to increase the participation of persons with disabilities in both decision-making processes and promoting their leadership in all areas of life, as well as affording the opportunity to live healthy, active lives.

On this Sport Ireland , I have decided to take the jump into the pool at University of Limerick Sports Arena with Limerick City Special Olympics.

As the dust settles, we must acknowledge that we witnessed one of the best semi-finals ever to be played. Both sides going at it hell for leather. We too echo all sentiments thanking John and the squad for another fantastic year, and congratulate Cork on the win.
