Established in January 2018, Eweknit was born from a need.
A need for a "ewenique" clothing brand for farmers who aren't afraid to show it.
For a while I had wanted to wear a brand that meant something to me and allowed me to buck the trend and be a bit different.
Something that would break the mould.
I wasn't always this way. When I was younger I was ashamed of my farming upbringing and I used to hide it.
I was young and vulnerable and I just wanted to fit in with my peers. Farming didn't come into that equation.
But as the years went by I began to realise that fitting in wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
Fitting in makes you generic and ordinary. The most popular and memorable people are those that are a bit edgy and aren't afraid to stand out.
But despite searching in shops, online and at agricultural shows, I could find nothing.
So I said to myself "f**k it, I'll make my own brand", not even slightly aware of the entrepreneurial journey that it was about to take me in.
You're probably thinking, "that's cute, but why would I buy Eweknit instead of a bigger, established brand?"
There is nothing wrong with any of the bigger brands, I often buy them, if I see something that looks good then I will buy it.
But as a sheep farmer, do you really want to just buy the big brands for the sake of fitting in?
If you try so hard to fit in, you'll get what you wish for.
You'll go through your whole life under the radar without ever standing out for anything. That's one of my biggest fears.
Don't be a sheep, don't be one of the crowd who just mindlessly does what everybody else is doing.
Even if you don't want to buy Eweknit, pick something else that's not approved of by the masses.
Decide what you like, what you don't like, then build your castle and don't give in to ANYONE.
That said, however, joining this little revolution wouldn't be a bad place to start.
