🎤ENTERTAINMENT🎤

Local group Waterdogs are one of Limerick’s brightest musical prospects. Leaving their most recent local performance in Pharmacia on Friday, December 1, it’s safe to say Waterdogs are on the up-and-up.

A collaboration with local radio station Wired FM, Waterdogs hosted an evening ranging from soft, lyrically dense folk, to headbanging rock. With support from Annie Cheevers, The Luminesc, and Misvanity, the evening was a perfect storm of talent from near and afar.

First to take the stage was Boston native Annie Cheevers. An unexpectedly understated but welcome opener considering the acts that followed, Annie’s folk sound was a hit with the captivated Pharmacia crowd. Ebbing and flowing through a set of deeply personal songs, Annie had an uncharacteristically stripped-back instrumental backing

An End in Sight: The Safe Access Zone Bill could be law by Christmas after passing all stages in the Dáil.

The Safe Access Zone Bill requires a mandatory 100 metre safe passage zone around all facilities in Ireland that offer or provide information on abortion.

Karen Sugrue, Limerick woman and representative of Together for Safety, says: “Ireland does not have abortior clinics - all abortion services are run from GPs, health centres, and hospitals - so when protesters stand outside these places they are indiscriminately causing distress to everyone who passes by!”

📣FEATURE📣

“You are not alone, and don’t be alone,” says Professor Gerald Downes.

Men’s mental health event sparks open conversation at University of Limerick.

In a commendable effort to address an often overlooked topic, the University of Limerick Postgraduate Students’ Union (ULPSU) dedicated a special day to focus on men’s mental health.

The initiative aimed to encourage open dialogue and shed light on the importance of discussing mental health issues among men.

Held in the university courtyard during peak lunch hours, the event involved placing a whiteboard for students to share their thoughts on men’s mental health.

The response was overwhelming, with the board quickly filling up with a mix of humorous, thoughtful, and deeply emotional messages. Many students shared personal experiences, creating an atmosphere of openness and empathy.
