That weekend is upon us, folks, and we were just discussing there, the only way we could possibly celebrate everyone's favourite Hallmark Holiday, was with another sweet pool tournament in the Hide Out on South William Street this Sunday. What ye reckon? If you are single, have no fear, lads and lassies, there is no need to sit at home with a bottle of wine wallowing in self pity, asking yourself over and over again- 'why am I are alone again this year?'. To Hell with that, come down to The Hide Out and we will distract you from your woes, you will be entertained with interesting conversation, you will amused by mediocre pool skills and libated with ice cold cans. If you are on a date, why not drag that significant other down for a buzz. Granted, I would completely agree, on paper, it's probably not the most romantic of options but I can guarantee you this, by the end of the night, the one you love will be tearing the cloths off your back for the amount of craic you'll have shown her.

Anyway, it's pretty loose, you don't even have to play, just bring yourself, your cans, your mates, 5 euro corkage for Sammy at the door and pop down to the back room where we have the all four table booked from 6pm onwards.

Here are a few quick snaps from the very first Radiomade Sunday Pool Tournament in the Hide-Out last weekend, courtesy of Mr Jamie Tanner of The Sixpence Studio.

For those who weren't aware, at 6pm last Sunday, a sizable crew of bowsies and motsers took over the back room of this well known landmark. Childhood memories of mitching off school came flooding back to everyone as the first breaks rang out.

Armed with nothing only pool cues, bags of cans and stories of Gealtacht reunions, four tables were to be used to decide who was to be our first winner, and that winner, in the end, after a rigorous competition, was Richie from Portarlington. Good man, Richie, sterling work, my man

We'll be there at the same time this week for all of you singles out there who cant get a date. Come one, come all, male or female, all shapes and sizes welcome. You don't even have to play, just come down for laughs if you wanna. Doesn't matter if you're on your own or in a gang, we'd love to see ye. 20 euro to enter the tourney and it's BYOB for the whole night with 5 euro corkage for the house.
