The Birthday Book Scholarship Program is back. It's bigger and better this year!

Initially launched in 2021, we have been able to help 3 individuals reach their dreams of becoming a CPA and accounting graduate. We have been fortunate enough to be joined this year by other CPAs in Ireland who have donated and help launch the second year of this program.

Eight accounting students are going to be awarded Php 5,000 allowance/grant dedicated for books and/or resources.

To be eligible for the Scholarship Award, the candidate must:
• Be a full-time accounting student in a recognized private or public university or college in the Philippines taking up a degree in accounting (BS Accountancy, BS Internal Auditing, BS Management Accounting or any other accounting degree)
• Must be at least 2nd year student and has already taken an accounting major subject
• Not have any record of any form of disciplinary action.
• Completed the online application form and submitted the requirements on time.

Three different categories of deserving students:
1. Academically Excellent (students with cumulative general weighted average of at least 91% or equivalent) [3 slots]
2. Financially Disadvantaged (students whose family income is less than P300,000 per year) [3 slots]
3. The Persevering (students whose grades do not meet that of an academically excellent but have great motivation to study) [2 slots]

Requirements:
1. Accomplished online application form

2. Proof of enrolment as an accounting student for the school year 2023-2024
3. Essay detailing why you should be chosen as the scholarship grantee under the category you are applying for and how the scholarship can help you attain your goals. Minimum words is 300 and can be in English or Tagalog.
4. For the Academically Excellent Category:
• proof of grades for all subjects from first year to current year
• calculation of cumulative general weighted average (Screenshots from school portal is acceptable and equivalence to the required 91% average)
• recommendation letter from a professor is not required but is highly appreciated.
5. For the Financially Disadvantaged Category:
• supporting document that family income is less than P250,000 per year and other supporting documents you deem that would support your eligibility for the category
• Proof of grades to show that you do not have any failing grades in any subject.
6. The last category is not a usual category for any scholarship program. I have deemed to include this category as I want to include all students and motivate all students to improve their grades and pass accounting knowing they can do more with better availability of resources and the perseverance to achieve such. For The Persevering Category,
• proof of grades from first year to current year with no failing grades and has obtained the minimum grade to be retained in the accounting program (retention qualifications).
• Essay must be compelling to prove why you deserve the scholarship grant and what makes you continue to persevere the accounting degree, event though it is difficult.
• Recommendation letter from a professor (required)
7. An applicant may qualify in at maximum 2 categories.
8. Integrity is an important character for a successful CPA professional. Any form of dishonesty in the submissions will be reported to the respective school of the student.
9. Requirements no. 2 to 6 must be submitted on or before 30 November 2023 11:59 PM Ireland Time.
10. Requirements no. 2 to 6 must be emailed to [email protected] with the subject LastName_School_BookScholarshipApplication (example: Tagaan_FEU_BookScholarshipApplication)
11. Must have liked the original post in the FB Page Vantage Gamer and tagged three other friends.
12. Must have also liked and followed my FB Page, Vantage Gamer.

The announcement of scholarship grantees will tentatively be on the 6th of December 2023 on the page, Vantage Gamer.

Awardees will ultimately be chosen by me and my generous friends who have donated this year. The decision will be final and irrevocable once the grantees are announced, unless there had been any form of dishonesty on the submissions by the eventual awardees.

The grantees will receive the P5,000 in cash but proof of purchase of accounting books and resources must be submitted afterwards. The cash should only be used for books and accounting resources. Further details will be agreed with the eventual awardees.

Big thank you to everyone who applied for the book scholarship! I didnt expect to receive applications from schools from north of Luzon to south of Mindanao. Announcement of grantees would be on Sunday, November 21.

I have been very blessed by God for 26 years (almost) now, with my academics and now on my career. I believe that it is time to give back and help the younger ones reach their dreams. With this, I am launching My Birthday Book Scholarship Grant.

At the end of my third year as an accounting student, I was not able to retain my full academic scholarship in FEU. Tuition back then was around Php45,000 (I think). I knew I had to find an external scholarship program to help my parents and sister on my education. I found then Aboitiz College Scholarship Program. I applied and luckily I was able to become one of the 10 awardees of the grant which gave me full tuition and miscellaneous fees, a book scholarship, internship at the Company and entry to one of the prestigious student business summits in the country. Forever will I be grateful to the Aboitiz family and Aboitiz Group of Companies.

I knew that the book scholarship they gave me paved the way for me to excel and top the board exams. Every semester, I had the newest books of different authors and they were all legitimate and original. I had the resources to study and the questions to practice. I wrote in all those books on their front page, "Top the October 2016 CPA Board Exams".

And since I am not yet as rich as an Aboitiz, I cannot fund a full scholarship program so I will just create a portion of the scholarship which is the book scholarship.

Here is the mechanics of 2021 My Birthday Book Scholarship:
