Congratulations to Markas Carcas and the Trail Gang on the double single release! Working on these tracks was a lot of fun. Lots of coffee, gur cake and running acoustic instruments through insane fuzz pedals. I've been watching Mark play for well over 10 years and working so closely with him and his amazing band as an engineer has been a real full circle moment for me. I hope everyone enjoys the tracks!

First time even holding a guitar since I left Ireland. I've been playing in bands for 14 years and I get very nervous when I'm doing something on my own like this, but I'm trying to work through it. Thanks very much to and to everyone else who played last night.

I bought these acoustic gobos during the first lockdown and they served me incredibly well. You can build your own even cheaper and even in a bedroom studio, a few of these can make a world of difference to your recordings!

I've been travelling for almost one month. I'm mixing songs and making music in hotel rooms, like our Lord intended. On another note, if anyone has a spare ergonomic chair in the vicinity of Northern Thailand, hit a brother up!

This week's banger is ‘If Love’s So Easy’ by In The Space Between These guys are from Kildare, I stumbled upon this song the other day and I can’t stop listening to it. It reminds me of The La’s, not stylistically but in the sense that the whole song is basically a chorus. The song was recorded as a live take and you really feel like you’re in the room with them. Well done everyone involved.

This week's track is ‘The Happiest Guy Around’ by Tropical F**k Storm. These guys are one of the most original bands going right now. Nobody sounds like them! Wild circus guitars, disjointed jungle beats, vocals that weave between spoken word and snarling, weird s**t. I am all over this. I’m going to throw up a playlist later on of all the bangers so far! January is nearly over boys and girls, be nice to each other.

Anemone. No, it’s actually pronounced, ‘Anemone’. You might recognise this word from the 2003 cult classic family horror ‘Finding Nemo’, but to the mid 90’s psyche rock lover, it’s a song by The Brian Jonestown Massacre. This song is a BANGER. It was sung by Mara Keagle, the band's organ player and to the best of my knowledge, it’s the only song she ever sang lead vocal on. BJM has released over 150 songs since 1990 so if you like their vibe there is tonnes of stuff to sink your teeth into! Next week will be 10 weeks since I started doing these videos so I’m going to put up a Spotify playlist of all the bangers so far, have a good week!

This week's track is Elevator Operator by Courtney Barnett. I knew I wanted to share a Courtney Barnett track this week but I had a hard time picking one. On my Spotify stats she is my most listened to artist of all time and so I’m biased in thinking every song is great. It’s crazy how much of our opinion on an artist is based on the first song that we hear and our very first impression.

When I was a teenager I was showing a good mate of mine Nirvana at a time when I was completely obsessed. I showed him Floyd the Barber. Floyd the fu***ng Barber. He always said Nirvana was s**te after that and looking back I can’t fault his logic because it’s not a strong song, although I do still like basically everything they ever did. The first song is key!

Courtney Barnett is an insanely talented and unique guitar player, her songwriting style is witty and songs tend to have a running narrative or storytelling quality. She’s very casual in her delivery and she's effortlessly cool. She has 2 albums, a double EP and a bunch of singles online and if you haven't listened to her before you’re in for a treat.

Somehow, it's Tuesday again. This week's banger is 'Billabong Valley' by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. King Gizzard is an insanely unique and prolific band from Australia. I first came across them in 2017 when, much to my surprise, they released five full-length albums in one year. The first of the five is called 'Flying Microtonal Banana' and it features this song. It's a savage album and well worth a listen so hopefully this song will give people a taste for them. Happy New Year boys and girls.

Tuesday! F**king! Banger! Thank for all the kind words about the Andi stream. This week's banger is 'Broken Finger Blues' by Richard Swift. I stumbled upon Richard Swift when an Irish artist called Karl Knuttel (formerly Ivan St John) mentioned him in an interview. I was oblivious to him. He played as a session musician and produced for bands like the black keys, fleet floxes but his solo albums are absolutely beautiful, particularly 'The Novelist'. Enjoy this one, and if you like it he has 5 or so albums for you to sink your teeth into.

This weeks Tuesday Banger is ‘I got Friends’ by Warmduscher. This 1 minute and 57-second sensation was never released as a single, but it’s a great introduction to the band. Lots of cool surf guitar sounds, lots of humour and a conversational vocal which I’m big into at the moment. This s**t sounds like 4 o’clock in the morning at a festival!

My very first Tuesdays Banger is Far Away by Bróna Keogh.

It’s not always going to be a new Irish release but this song came out this week and I was blown away……………. far away…..

When I first heard the ambient track (I may be wrong here but I think it’s a harmonium mixed with a lap steel with some tremolo) I thought wow she’s after doing something very different here. It’s haunting and beautiful. The lead guitar is also stunning, It literally sounds like its crying.

Fair play to everyone who worked on it, absolute banger!

Salutations. I'm starting a regular thing here each week called the 'Tuesday Banger.' I'm going to pick a banger every week, sometimes Irish, sometimes not, and say a few things about it. When I've done enough of them I'll make a Spotify playlist and put a link in the bio.

If you find yourself getting stuck in little ruts, and not listening to any new music, then committing to one song a week could get you back on the horse. Listening to music is a habit that we fall in and out of so If your feeling that there's no good music around right now, then you, my friend, are simply out of the habit.

Like this page and check out the weekly banger every Tuesday.

I absolutely loved Sarah And Steve when I was in my early 20's. Having lived in Tallaght for all of my life at that stage, I always thought they absolutely nailed it and I've gone back and watched it all a few times over the years. It's an absolute pleasure to be working with it's co-creator Dave Coffey on his latest podcast/animation. Check it out on Youtube or on the RTE Player.

Amazing weekend last weekend recording the Brain Donation. Here is a very very quick snippet of part of the set up!

Thanks for all the likes and shares people. Doing a pretty intense reamping session today. A lovely vintage amplifier with the holy trinity of microphones for recording guitar, a 1970s md421, an sm57 and a Coles 4038.

Have a good week.
