Thanedar Mela 2022

The meeting of three local Hindu defta’s: Dom, Guthania and Nag(who is not in this video as the terrain got crazy as we descended to their temple). Dom and Guthania meet annually, but there was a break in tradition because of a certain outbreak, so this was the first in two years. Nag, on the other hand, doesn’t leave its temple and only meets the others, it’s siblings, every twenty years, so this was a huge occasion in the local Pahari calendar.

This is one of my favourite travel experiences so far as it was a compete sensory overload, and although I was the only white faced foreigner amongst the crowd, I’ve never felt so welcome.
