We aim to champion bands that are overlooked by and undervalued by the mainstream media machine, while still paying homage to the iconic bands and artists who laid and developed the groundwork for today’s emerging talent. Whether it is post punk, shoegaze, sludge metal, or noise rock we want to bring these alternative music genres to the fore. The website was founded in 2014 and since then has est

ablished relationships with many influential alternative record labels (Exploding in Sound, Pelagic Records, The Flenser), developed an engaged and enthusiastic readership, and had numerous articles about the gifted bands we cover cited by the likes of NPR, Pitchfork, Consequence of Sound, and Brooklyn Vegan. With writers based across the UK, Ireland and further afield, Overblown’s influence is growing, and becoming a vital source for people searching out exciting new alternative music.
