Southernman Films is a film and video production company based near Cork City, in the South of Ireland. We love film and video production.

We premiered our debut feature film, 'Tree Keeper' at the 56th Cork Film Festival. We regularly produce promotional video material for Murphy's Irish Stout and Beamish Stout. We can provide a full production service, a stand alone camera team or a complete editing service. Producer/Writer/Director Patrick O'Shea studied Film in the Dublin Institute of Technology from 1995 to 1999. He was Head of O

perations for Future TV Media Centre in Dublin for the year 2000, after which he moved to Luxembourg and worked in the film studios of Carousel Pictures and Deluxe Productions. He has produced, written and directed numerous short films and promo videos. 'Tree Keeper' is his feature directorial debut!

Back in October 2019 when we were all able to pack into tiny music venues together with nothing but b.o., bad breath and boring conversation to worry about we spent a full day with our cameras squeezing between the punters and the performers at the uniquely special festival that is 'Secret Song' in Levis' Cornerhouse in Ballydehob, West Cork. This film is the result of our efforts. A truly enjoyable experience and a privilege to be involved. Here's to packing ourselves back into tiny venues again and soaking up all that wonderful, soulful music!

The Examiner just did a feature on urban artist Fin DAC and included our short film of him painting a giant mural in Cork city back in May 2014. Still proud of that little film, 'Jackie Oh!!!' which went on to win the Spirit of Ireland award at the Chicago Irish Film Festival. And of course Fin DAC's mural was amazing and watching him work was pure class!

Buddleja Butterfly

While out shooting footage for a new and very exciting upcoming project (more info later) I captured this little scene that for me captures a typical moment of Irish summer evenings. I also realised by pure chance that butterflies and Bach go well together!
