The UK Ministry of Defence here on Monday officially unveiled “Team Pellonia,” a new collaboration to equip air platforms with next-generation self-protection solutions.
Led by the Royal Air Force (RAF), Defence Equipment and Support and the Defence Science Technology Laboratory (Dstl), Team Pellonia also features industry partners from across the UK, An industry team comprising Leonardo UK, Thales UK and Chemring have partnered with the UK Defense Ministry on the development of next-generation aircraft survivability equipment.

Tests of the Tactical Resupply UAS, also called TRV-150, and the Blue Water logistics UAS, occurred Oct. 27 in St. Inigoes, Md. The former is under development by the UK-based Malloy Aeronautics and a Maryland-based firm called SURVICE Engineering Company. The latter is made by PteroDynamics, a California-based developer and manufacturer focused on vertical-take-off-and-landing aircraft.

The success of American joint forces in a potential conflict with China or Russia will depend in part on whether the US Air Force can continue to provide warfighters with advanced airborne early warning and control capabilities. The best short-term solution appears to be the E-7A Wedgetail. The primary reason is that the E-7A is a known and proven aircraft (including engines and avionics) that also hosts an advanced airborne early warning and control suite.

The In US Army announced a modernisation plan and launched the Next-Generation Combat Vehicle (NGCV) programme to replace nearly 3,800 M-2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles. The F-23A would have been longer and more smoothly molded than the prototype technology demonstrator that came before it. The YF-23's big trapezoidal nacelles would become more blended into the F-23's fuselage and its engines would be spaced closer together at slightly toed-in angles. Without the requirements for thrust reversers, which was baked into the YF-23 design but the hardware was never fitted, a more efficient low-observable flap-nozzle could be installed and the flat exhaust troughs would get updated heat-resistant coverings.

Last month, U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. C.Q. Brown caused a stir when he announced the service was looking into buying a brand-new fighter jet to help replace the F-16 Viper. The Air Forces of the US and India have signed a new agreement to cooperate on the development of unmanned aerial vehicles, according to the Pentagon.
The goal, per a Sept. 3 announcement: “the Design, Development, Demonstration, Test and Evaluation of technologies including physical hardware such as small UAVs, avionics, payload power, propulsion, and launch systems through prototyping that meet the operational requirements of the Indian and U.S. Air Forces.”

The Navy's new MQ-4C Triton drones hit a new development milestone last week, the Navy's project manager announced Tuesday.

Capt. Dan Mackin, the naval program manager for the Triton program, said that a new configuration of the drone, loaded with more sensors, had its first flight last Thursday over Southern Maryland. The drone's newly installed cameras and signals intelligence collection systems "are performing better than expected at this point," Mackin said at a press conference at the annual Sea Air Space conference today.
