Primo Rizky has long noticed a troublesome sentiment in Indonesia’s F&B. “One of the toughest challenges I faced was introducing dessert culture in Indonesia, where desserts were traditionally undervalued,” he elaborates.
So, in 2019, he co-founded Jakarta Desert Week, the origin of today’s Indonesia Dessert Week. The aim of the event sounds simple but is inherently complex: to bring together pastry and dessert chefs and promote Indonesia’s dessert culture.
With undying grit and through constant improvement each year, JDW has since grown into Southeast Asia’s largest dessert festival, and the event has been recognised as a national agenda under Indonesia’s Kharisma Event Nusantara programme.
