🇻🇳| Vietnam is the king of the global durian market with exports reaching US$3.3 billion in 2024, as reported by CNBC.

According to an investor report, the country’s durian exports increased 7.8-fold compared to 2022, accounting for nearly 50 percent of its total fruit and vegetable shipments.

The success is largely due to strong demand from China, where durian is considered a luxury fruit and a creative culinary ingredient.

Durian is the name of a tropical plant originating from Southeast Asia, as well as the name of its edible fruit. This name is taken from the characteristic of the fruit's skin which is hard and has sharp grooves so that it resembles "Duri" ( Malay-Indonesian, Duri = thorns ) . Its popular name is "king of all fruits". Durian is a controversial fruit because although many people like it, some do not like its aroma.

Many people (especially Malaysian) still think that the Malay language comes from Malaysia, but based on historical evidence it has been proven wrong. The Kedukan Bukit inscription dated 683 AD is the oldest specimen of Malay language in the world, found in Palembang, the ancient capital of Sriwijaya which is located in what is now modern day Indonesia. It turns out that the island of Java & the island of Luzon in the Philippines also have ancient Malay heritage: the Sojomerto inscription (Java, 7th CE) & Laguna Cooperplate Inscriptions (Luzon, 900 AD) with mixed of Tagalog & Old Javanese words. Meanwhile, 🚫 not a single ancient Malay language inscriptions were found on the peninsula Malaysia.

The evolution of Old Malay into Classical Malay coincided with Islam's spread throughout Nusantara (maritime Southeast Asia) . The Tanjung Tanah manuscript (14th century), discovered in Jambi, Indonesia, exemplifies this transition. Notably, Malaysia emerged in 1963 as a British-initiated federation after uniting states in Peninsula with Sabah & Sarawak. Article 152 of the 1986 Malaysian Constitution formally established Bahasa Melayu as the official language, replacing Bahasa Malaysia. Interestingly, Indonesia recognized Bahasa Indonesia as its national language in 1928, 54 years before Malaysia even adopted MalayMalay formally.
