Prabhupāda: Sekarang, seseorang mungkin bertanya, "Apakah kamu telah melihat Kṛṣṇa?" Jadi bagaimana Kṛṣṇa dapat dilihat? Ya. Seorang guru spiritual pasti pernah melihat Kṛṣṇa. Tanpa melihat, dia tidak bisa menjadi guru spiritual. Tetapi bagaimana Kṛṣṇa dapat dilihat? Kṛṣṇa dapat dilihat dengan cinta.

Premāñjana-cchurita-bhakti-vilocanena (Bs.5.38). Premāñjana-cchurita-bhakti-vilocanena santaḥ sadaiva hṛdayeṣu vilokayanti.

Sama seperti jika Anda sedang jatuh cinta dengan seseorang, Anda dapat melihatnya terus-menerus—dia selalu ada di mata Anda, siapa pun yang Anda cintai—demikian p**a, Kṛṣṇa juga dapat dilihat melalui pengembangan cinta. Kalau tidak, bagaimana kita bisa melihat Kṛṣṇa? Dia sangat hebat, tidak terbatas. Mata Anda, indra Anda, semuanya terbatas. Anda tidak dapat melihat yang tidak terbatas dengan persepsi indra Anda yang terbatas. Tapi kamu bisa lihat... Bukan kamu bisa lihat, tapi svayam eva sphuraty adaḥ. Ketika Anda dikembangkan dalam arti cinta Ketuhanan, maka Dia mengungkapkan kepada Anda. Oleh karena itu Anda dapat melihat.

Sama seperti matahari. Anda tidak dapat melihat matahari dengan tantangan di malam hari. Jika seseorang berkata, "Ayo. Akan saya tunjukkan. Lihat. Naik pesawat," apa yang akan dia lihat? Dia bisa melakukan perjalanan ke seluruh langit; tetap saja, dia tidak bisa melihat matahari. Demikian p**a, ini adalah contohnya. Pada malam hari Anda tidak dapat melihat matahari, tetapi ketika matahari terbit, Anda dapat melihat matahari, Anda juga dapat melihat diri Anda sendiri. Dengan melihat matahari, Anda bisa melihat diri sendiri, Anda bisa melihat dunia.

Demikian p**a, ketika kamu melihat Kṛṣṇa, maka kamu melihat segalanya. Tanpa melihat Kṛṣṇa, matamu buta, inderamu tidak sempurna. Oleh karena itu dikatakan bahwa "Jiwa yang sadar diri dapat memberikan pengetahuan kepada Anda karena dia telah melihat kebenaran."

TRANSLATION

1) He, who brought the treasure of divine love and who was filled with compassion and mercy--where has such a personality as Advaita Acarya gone?

2) Where are my Svarupa Damodara and Rupa Gosvami? Where is Sanatana? Where is Raghunatha Dasa, the savior of the fallen?

3) Where are my Raghunatha Bhatta and Gopala Bhatta, and where is Krsnadasa Kaviraja? Where did Lord Gauranga, the great dancer, suddenly go?

4) I will smash my head against the rock and enter into the fire. Where will I find Lord Gauranga, the reservoir of all wonderful qualities?

5) Being unable to obtain the association of Lord Gauranga accompanied by all of these devotees in whose association He performed His pastimes, Narottama Dasa simply weeps.

TRANSLATION

1) O Gopinatha, Lord of the gopis, please hear my request. I am a wicked materialist, always addicted to worldly desires, and no good qualities do I possess.

2) O Gopinatha, You are my only hope, and therefore I have taken shelter at Your lotus feet. I am now Your eternal servant.

3) O Gopinatha, how will You purify me? I do not know what devotion is, and my materialistic mind is absorbed in fruitive work. I have fallen into this dark and perilous worldly existence.

4) O Gopinatha, everything here is Your illusory energy. I have no strength or transcendental knowledge, and this body of mine is not independent and free from the control of material nature.

5) O Gopinatha, this sinner, who is weeping and weeping, begs for an eternal place at Your divine feet. Please give him Your mercy.

6) O Gopinatha, You are able to do anything, and therefore You have the power to deliver all sinners. Who is there that is more of a sinner than myself?

7) O Gopinatha, You are the ocean of mercy. Having come into this phenomenal world, You expand Your divine pastimes for the sake of the fallen souls.

8) O Gopinatha, I am so sinful that although all the demons attained Your lotus feet, Bhaktivinoda has remained in worldly existence.

Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura describes about the 4 primary blockages to our spiritual cultivation ( anarthas) in the Sri Bhajana Rahasya :
1. Hrdaya-daurbalya - weakness of heart
2. Aparadha - all kinds of offenses
3. Asat-trsna - material desires
4. Tattva-vibhrama - illusion about spiritual knowledge

Now here are the categories of anarthas within those 4 :
1.Hrdaya-daurbalya
a. tucchasakti - attachment to objects not related to Krsna
b. kutinati - deceitfulness or faultfinding
c. matsaryam - enviousness
d. sva-pratisthata - desire for fame

2. Aparadha
a. nama aparadha - offenses to the name of the Lord
b. seva aparadha - offenses to the form of the Lord
c. vaisnava aparadha - offenses to the devotees of the Lord
d. jiva aparadha - offenses to other living entities

3. Asat-trsna
a. desire for material objects
b. desire for heavenly comforts
c. desire for mystic powers
d. desire for liberation
4. Tattva-vibhrama
a. sva-tattva-bhrama - illusion regarding one's own identity
b. paratattva-bhrama - illusion regarding the SPG
c. sadhya-bhrama - illusion regarding the goal of sadhana ie prema bhakti
d. sadhana-bhrama - illusion regarding the process of sadhana

After listing all these forms of anarthas he then lists their effects on the conditioned soul which are;
1. The 6 enemies of the mind;
k**a, krodha, lobha, moha, mada and matsarya
ie lust, anger, greed, illusion. pride and envy
2. The 6 material waves of suffering ( material whips or pangs )
soka, moha, ksut, pipasa, jara, and mrtyu
distress, illusion, hunger, thirst, old age and death
And then he gives the remedy for overcoming all these anarthas :..The performance of Harinam Sankirtana...

narasimha-kavacham vakshye
prahladenoditam pura
sarva-raksha-karam punyam
sarvopadrava-nashanam

I shall now recite the Narasimha-kavaca, formerly spoken by Prahlada Maharaja. It is most pious, vanquishes all kinds of impediments, and provides one all protection.

sarva-sampat-karam chaiva
svarga-moksha-pradayakam
dhyatva narasimham devesham
hema-simhasana-sthitam

It bestows upon one all opulences and can give one elevation to the heavenly planets or liberation. One should meditate on Lord Narasimha, Lord of the universe, seated upon a golden throne.

vivrtasyam tri-nayanam
sharad-indu-sama-prabham
lakshmyalingita-vamangam
vibhutibhir upashritam

His mouth is wide open, He has three eyes, and He is as radiant as the autumn moon. He is embraced by Lakshmidevi on his left side, and His form is the shelter of all opulences, both material and spiritual.

catur-bhujam komalangam
svarna-kundala-shobhitam
saroja-shobitoraskam
ratna-keyura-mudritam

The Lord has four arms, and His limbs are very soft. He is decorated with golden earrings. His chest is resplendent like the lotus flower, and His arms are decorated with jewel-studded ornaments.

tapta-kancana-sankasham
pita-nirmala-vasasam
indradi-sura-maulishthah
sphuran manikya-diptibhih

He is dressed in a spotless yellow garment, which exactly resembles molten gold. He is the original cause of existence, beyond the mundane sphere, for the great demigods headed by Indra. He appears bedecked with rubies which are blazingly effulgent.

shankha-chakradi-hetibhih
garutmata cha vinayat
stuyamanam mudanvitam

His two feet are very attractive, and He is armed with various weapons such as the conch, disc, etc. Garuda joyfully offers prayers with great reverence.

loka-rakshartha-sambhavah

Having seated Lord Narasimhadeva upon the lotus of one's heart, one should recite the following mantra: May Lord Narasimha, who protects all the planetary systems, protect my head.

sarvago ’pi stambha-vasah
phalam me rakshatu dhvanim
nrsimho me drshau patu
soma-suryagni-lochanah

Although the Lord is all-pervading, He hid Himself within a pillar. May He protect my speech and the results of my activities. May Lord Narasimha, whose eyes are the sun, and fire, protect my eyes.

smrtam me patu naraharih
muni-varya-stuti-priyah
nasam me simha-nashas tu
mukham lakshmi-mukha-priyah

May Lord Nrhari, who is pleased by the prayers offered by the best of sages, protect my memory. May He who has the nose of a lion protect my nose, and may He whose face is very dear to the goddess of fortune protect my mouth.

sarva-vidyadhipah patu
nrsimho rasanam mama
vaktram patv indu-vadanam
sada prahlada-vanditah

May Lord Narasimha, who is the knower of all sciences, protect my sense of taste. May He whose face is beautiful as the full moon and who is offered prayers by Prahlada Maharaja protect my face.

narasimhah patu me kantham
skandhau bhu-bhrd ananta-krt
divyastra-shobhita-bhujah
narasimhah patu me bhujau

May Lord Narasimha protect my throat. He is the sustainer of the earth and the performer of unlimitedly wonderful activities. May He protect my shoulders. His arms are resplendent with transcendental weapons. May He protect my shoulders.

karau me deva-varado
narasimhah patu sarvatah
hrdayam yogi-sadhyash cha
nivasam patu me harih

May the Lord, who bestows benedictions upon the demigods, protect my hands, and may He protect me from all sides. May He who is achieved by the perfect yogis protect my heart, and may Lord Hari protect my dwelling place.

madhyam patu hiranyaksha-
vakshah-kukshi-vidaranah
nabhim me patu naraharih
sva-nabhi-brahma-samstutah

May He who ripped apart the chest and abdomen of the great demon Hiranyaksha protect my waist, and may Lord Nrhari protect my navel. He is offered prayers by Lord Brahma, who has sprung from his own navel.

brahmanda-kotayah katyam
yasyasau patu me katim
guhyam me patu guhyanam
mantranam guhya-rupa-drk

May He on whose hips rest all the universes protect my hips. May the Lord protect my private parts. He is the knower of all mantras and all mysteries, but He Himself is not visible.

uru manobhavah patu
januni nara-rupa-drk
janghe patu dhara-bhara-
harta yo ’sau nr-keshari

May He who is the original Cupid protect my thighs. May He who exhibits a human-like form protect my knees. May the remover of the burden of the earth, who appears in a form which is half-man and half-lion, protect my calves.

sura-rajya-pradah patu
padau me nrharishvarah
sahasra-shirsha-purushah
patu me sarvashas tanum

May the bestower of heavenly opulence protect my feet. He is the Supreme Controller in the form of a man and lion combined. May the thousand-headed Supreme enjoyer protect my body from all sides and in all respects.

manograh purvatah patu
maha-viragrajo ’gnitah
maha-vishnur dakshine tu
maha-jvalas tu nairrtah

May that most ferocious personality protect me from the east. May He who is superior to the greatest heroes protect me from the southeast, which is presided over by Agni. May the Supreme Vishnu protect me from the south, and may that person of blazing luster protect me from the southwest.

pashchime patu sarvesho
dishi me sarvatomukhah
narasimhah patu vayavyam
saumyam bhushana-vigrahah

May the Lord of everything protect me from the west. His faces are everywhere, so please may He protect me from this direction. May Lord Narasimha protect me from the northwest, which is predominated by Vayu, and may He whose form is in itself the supreme ornament protect me from the north, where Soma resides.

ishanyam patu bhadro me
sarva-mangala-dayakah
samsara-bhayatah patu
mrtyor mrtyur nr-keshari

May the all-auspicious Lord, who Himself bestows all-auspiciousness, protect from the northeast, the direction of the sun-god, and may He who is death personified protect me from fear of death and rotation in this material world.

idam narasimha-kavacham
prahlada-mukha-manditam
bhaktiman yah pathenaityam
sarva-papaih pramucyate

This Narasimha-kavaca has been ornamented by issuing from the mouth of Prahlada Maharaja. A devotee who reads this becomes freed from all sins.

putravan dhanavan loke
dirghayur upajayate
yam yam k**ayate k**am
tam tam prapnoty asamshayam

Whatever one desires in this world he can attain without doubt. One can have wealth, many sons, and a long life.

sarvatra jayam apnoti
sarvatra vijayi bhavet
bhumy antariksha-divyanam
grahanam vinivaranam

He becomes victorious who desires victory, and indeed becomes a conqueror. He wards off the influence of all planets, earthly, heavenly, and everything in between.

vrshchikoraga-sambhuta-
vishapaharanam param
brahma-rakshasa-yakshanam
durotsarana-karanam

This is the supreme remedy for the poisonous effects of serpents and scorpions, and Brahma-rakshasa ghosts and Yakshas are driven away.

bhuje va tala-patre va
kavacam likhitam shubham
kara-mule dhrtam yena
sidhyeyuh karma-siddhayah

One may write this most auspicious prayer on his arm, or inscribe it on a palm-leaf and attach it to his wrist, and all his activities will become perfect.

devasura-manushyeshu
svam svam eva jayam labhet
eka-sandhyam tri-sandhyam va
yah pathen niyato narah

One who regularly chants this prayer, whether once or thrice (daily), he becomes victorious whether among demigods, demons, or human beings.

sarva-mangala-mangalyam
bhuktim muktim cha vindati
dva-trimshati-sahasrani
pathet shuddhatmanam nrnam

One who with purified heart recites this prayer 32,000 times attains the most auspicious of all auspicious things, and material enjoyment and liberation are already understood to be available to such a person.

kavachasyasya mantrasya
mantra-siddhih prajayate
anena mantra-rajena
krtva bhasmabhir mantranam

This Kavaca-mantra is the king of all mantras. One attains by it what would be attained by anointing oneself with ashes and chanting all other mantras.

tilakam bibhriyad yas tu
tasya graha-bhayam haret
tri-varam japamanas tu
dattam varyabhimantrya ca

Having marked ones body with tilaka, taking acamana with water, and reciting this mantra three times, one will find that the fear of all inauspicious planets is removed.

prasayed yo naro mantram
narasimha-dhyanam acharet
tasya rogah pranashyanti
ye cha syuh kukshi-sambhavah

That person who recites this mantra, meditating upon Lord Narasimhadeva, has all of his diseases vanquished, including those of the abdomen.

kimatra bahunoktena
narasimha sadrsho bhavet
manasa chintitam yattu
sa tacchapnotya samshayam

Why should more be said? One acquires qualitative oneness with Narasimha himself. There is no doubt that the desires in the mind of one who meditates will be granted.

garjantam garjayantam nija-bhuja-patalam sphotayantam hatantam
dipyantam tapayantam divi bhuvi ditijam kshepayantam kshipantam
krandantam roshayantam dishi dishi satatam samharantam bharantam
vikshantam purnayantam kara-nikara-shatair divya-simham namami

Lord Narasimha roars loudly and causes others to roar. With His multitudes of arms He tears the demons asunder and kills them in this way. He is always seeking out and tormenting the demoniac descendants of Diti, both on this earth planet and in the higher planets, and He throws them down and scatters them. He cries with great anger as He destroys the demons in all directions, yet with His unlimited hands He sustains, protects, and nourishes the cosmic manifestation. I offer my respectful obeisances to the Lord, who has assumed the form of a transcendental lion.

iti shri-brahmanda-purane prahladoktam shri-narasimha-kavacam sampurnam

Thus ends the Narasimha-kavaca as it is described by Prahlada Maharaja in the Brahmanda Purana.

Śrī Śanaiścara-kṛta Śrī Narasiṁha Stuti


Everyone is afraid of the malefic planet Śani because generally he is associated with extreme sorrow and suffering. However, Śanideva himself has devised a way of solving this problem by obtaining the blessings of Lord Nṛsiṁha.

Shani made an agreement with the Lord that he would never trouble those who recite his NṛsiṁhaStuti when they are facing troubles related to dvādaśa-aṣṭama-pañcama (a situation where Śani-kāta lasts for 7 1/2 births)
If one recites with devotion Śani’s Śrī Nṛsiṁha Stuti, one will please the Lord who is the Supersoul of Shanaishchara and the Lord will remove all obstacles and suffering and bless His devotee.

sulabho bhakti yuktānāṁdurdarśoduṣṭacetasāṁ |
ananyagatikānām ca prabhubhaktaika-vatsalaḥ
śanaiścara tatra nṛsiṁha-deva cakārāmala-citta-vṛtiḥ |
praṇamya ṣaṣṭāṅgam aśeśa-loka kirīta nīrājita pāda-padmam || 1 |

Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva is easily accessible to the devotees and punishes those who are evil-minded. He is the saviour for those who are helpless who desire to seek refuge in Him. When the demigods of innumerable planets bow down to His lotus feet, the bright jewels from their crowns are reflected on His toenails which gives the impression that lamps are being waved in front of them.

Unto His lotus feet, Śanideva prostrated and prayed (in the court of Brahmā).
śrīśanir-uvāca -
yatpāda-pankaja-raja paramādharena
saṁsevitamsakalakalmaśarāśī-nāśam |
kalyāṇakārak**aśeṣanijānugānam |
satvamnṛsiṁhamayidehikṛpā-valokam ||2||

ŚrīŚani said -
By the mercy of the dust of Your lotus feet which destroy a multitude of sins, grant infinite auspiciousness to Your devotee who always worships Your lotus feet with devotion. O Lord Nṛsiṁha, please bestow upon me Your merciful side-long glance.

sarvatracancalatayāsthitayāpilakṣmyāḥ |
brahmādi-vandya-padayāstirayānyasevi ||
pādāravinda-yugalaṁparamā-dharena |
satvamnṛsiṁhamayidehikṛpāvalokam||3||

Your lotus feet are worshipped by Goddess Lakṣmī, even though She is fickle by nature (cancala) and by Lord Brahmā and Lord Śiva whose feet are worthy of worship with devotion. O Lord Nṛsiṁha, please bestow upon me Your merciful side-long glance.
yadrūpamāgama-śiraḥpratipādhyamādhya |
ādhyātmikādiparitāpa haram vicintyam ||
yogīśvarairapathagākhiladoṣasaṅghaiḥ |
satvamnṛsiṁhamayidehikṛpā-valokam ||4||

By contemplating or meditating upon Your appearance, which is expounded in the Vedas extensively, the best of the saints are liberated from the three-fold miseries and from all misfortunes. O Lord Nṛsiṁha, please bestow upon me Your merciful side-long glance.

prahlādabhaktavacasāharirāvirāsa |
stambhehiraṇyakaśipuṁyaudhārabhāvaḥ ||
urvaunidhāyaudharamnakhāraidadhāra |
satvamnṛsiṁhamayidehikṛpā-valokam ||5||

By the word of His devotee named Prahlāda, Lord Hari, who is generous and kind, appeared from a pillar and by placing Hiraṇyakaśipu on His thighs split open the his stomach with His nails. O Lord Nṛsiṁha, please bestow upon me Your merciful side-long glance.

yonaijabhaktaṁanalāmbudhibhūdharogra |
śṛṇga-prapātaviśadhamtisarīsupebhyaḥ |
sarvātmakaḥparama-kāruṇikorarakṣa |
satvamnṛsiṁhamayidehikṛpā-valokam ||6||

You protected your own devotee Prahlāda from a raging fire, the deep ocean, from falling from a tall mountain peak, poison, a mad elephant and the fangs of poisonous serpents. You are omnipresent and supremely generous. O Lord Nṛsiṁha, please bestow upon me Your merciful side-long glance.

yannirvikāra para-rūpavicintanena |
yogīśvarāviśayasāgaravītarāgāḥ ||
viśrāmtimāpura-vināśavatīṁparākhyāṁ |
satvamnṛsiṁhamayidehikṛpā-valokam ||7||

By meditating upon He whose great form is devoid of imperfections, the best of the saints attained liberation from the ocean of materialistic attachments and obtained unmitigated salvation. O Lord Nṛsiṁha, please bestow upon me Your merciful side-long glance.

yadrūpam-ugraparimardanabhāvaśāli |
saṁcintanenasakalāghavināśakāri |
bhūtajvaragrahasamudbhavabhītināśam |
satvamnṛsiṁhamayidehikṛpā-valokam ||8||

By meditating upon He whose form is fearsome, all peace, happiness and prosperity can be obtained, all sins can be obliterated, the fear arising from evil spirits, fevers and unfavorable planetary positions can be removed, O Lord Nṛsiṁha, please bestow upon me Your merciful side-long glance.

yasyottamaṁyaśaumā-patimpadma-janma |
śakrādidaivatasabhāsusamasta-gītam ||
śaktaivasarvaśa-mala praśamaikadakṣam |
satvamnṛsiṁhamayidehikṛpā-valokam ||9||

Your transcendental fame is sung gloriously in all the divine assemblies of Śiva, Brahmā and Indra etc. and whose power is steadfast in wiping out all impurities, O Lord Nṛsiṁha, please bestow upon me Your merciful side-long glance.

evamśrutvāstutiṁdevaḥ
śanināṁkalpitāṁhariḥ |
uvāca brahma vṛndasta
śaniṁtaṁbhakta-vatsalaḥ ||10||

On listening to the heartfelt prayer composed by Śanideva in the assembly of Lord Brahmā, Lord Hari who is ever compassionate to His devotees, spoke to Śanideva as follows.

śrīnṛsiṁhauvāca -
prasannohamśanetubhyaṁ |
varamvarayaśobhanaṁ ||
yaṁvāñchasitamevatvam |
sarva-lokahitāvaham ||11||

ŚrīNṛsiṁha said –
O Śani, I am pleased with your devotion. What ever you desire that will benefit the world, ask for that kind of boon and I will grant it.

śrīśaniruvāca -
nṛsiṁhatvammayikṛpām
kuru deva dayā-nidhe |
madvāsarastavaprīti-
karasyatdevatā-pate ||12||
matkṛtamtvatparamstotraṁ
śṛṇvanti ca paṭanti ca |
sarvānkāmanpūrayetās
teśāmtvaṁloka-bhāvanaḥ ||13||

Śrī Śanideva replied –
O Lord Nṛsiṁha, O reservoir of compassion, please be kind to me. O Lord of all gods, let my week-day (Saturday) be Your favorite day. O Purifier of all the worlds, may Youfulfill the desires of all those who listen to or read this great prayer to You composed by me.”

śrīnṛsiṁhauvāca -
tataivāstuśanehamvai
rakṣo-bhuvanasaṁsthitaḥ |
bhaktakāmānpūrayiśye
tvaṁmamaikavacaḥśṛṇu ||
tvatkṛtam mat paramstotram
yaḥpaṭecchṛṇuyācchayaḥ |
dvādaśāṣṭamajanmastād
bhayaṁmāstutasyavai ||14||

Śrī Nṛsiṁha said –
O Śani, let it be so! By virtue of My being the universal protector (rakṣobhuvana), I fulfill the desires of all My devotees. Please listen to My words -let there be no fear of the twelfth and eighth birth positions (and implicitly any unfavorable birth positions) and consequent troubles from you for any one who reads or listens to this prayer to Me composed by you.
śani narahariṁ devaṁ
tateti pratyuvāca ha
tataḥ parama-saṁtuṣṭo
jayeti munayovadan ||15||

Then Śanideva replied to Lord Narahari that he would follow the Lord’s instructions. Then the joyful saints and sages present there (in Brahma’s assembly) responded with cries of, ‘jaya, jaya!’”.

śrīkṛṣṇauvāca -
itamśanaiścarasyātanṛsiṁha deva |
samvādametatstavanaṁ ca mānavaḥ ||
śṛṇotiyaḥśrāvayate ca bhaktyā
sarvānyābhīṣṭāni ca vindatedhruvam ||16||

Śrī Kṛṣṇa told Dharmarāja, “Whoever listens to or recites this conversation between Śanideva and Lord Nṛsiṁha in the form of this prayer of devotion will definitely have all desires fulfilled and will always rejoice.”
itiśrībhaviṣyottarapurāṇerakṣobhuvanamahātmeśrī
śanaiścarakṛtaśrīnṛsiṁhastutisampūrṇam
Thus ends the prayers offered to the universal protector Śrī Nṛsiṁha by the great soul Śani.

Sita Belongs to Rama!

"Riches come from Lakṣmī, the goddess of fortune, and the goddess of fortune is the property of Nārāyaṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The goddess of fortune cannot stay anywhere but by the side of Nārāyaṇa; therefore another of her names is Cañcalā, restless. She cannot be peaceful unless she is in the company of her husband, Nārāyaṇa. For example, Lakṣmī was carried away by the materialistic Rāvaṇa. Rāvaṇa kidnapped Sītā, the goddess of fortune belonging to Lord Rāma. As a result, Rāvaṇa's entire family, opulence and kingdom were smashed, and Sītā, the goddess of fortune, was recovered from his clutches and reunited with Lord Rāma. Thus all property, riches and wealth belong to Kṛṣṇa. As stated in Bhagavad-gītā (BG 5.29):

bhoktāraṁ yajña-tapasāṁ
sarva-loka-maheśvaram

'The Supreme Personality of Godhead is the true beneficiary of all sacrifices and austerities, and He is the supreme proprietor of all the planetary systems.'

Foolish materialistic people collect money and steal from other thieves, but they cannot keep it. In any case, it must be spent. One person cheats another, and another person cheats someone else; therefore the best way to possess Lakṣmī is to keep her by the side of Nārāyaṇa. This is the point of the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement. We worship Lakṣmī (Rādhārāṇī) along with Nārāyaṇa (Kṛṣṇa). We collect money from various sources, but that money does not belong to anyone but Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa (Lakṣmī-Nārāyaṇa). If money is utilized in the service of Lakṣmī-Nārāyaṇa, the devotee automatically lives in an opulent way. However, if one wants to enjoy Lakṣmī the way Rāvaṇa did, he will be vanquished by the laws of nature, and whatever few possessions he has will be taken away. Finally death will take everything away, and death is the representative of Kṛṣṇa."

Locana Das Thakur Appearance.
Srila Locana Dasa Thakura appeared in this world in 1520 A.D., thirty-four years after the appearance of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Locana Dasa wrote a biography on Lord Caitanya, entitled Sri Caitanya Mangala, and he wrote many devotional songs.

Sri Locana dasa Thakura took birth in a family of Rarhiya physicians who resided in the village of Kogram, within the Mahakumar (Katna) district of Barddhaman. His guru was Sri Narahari Sarkar Thakura.

His father’s name was Sri Kamalakara dasa and his mother’s name, Sri Sadananda. He was the only son of his parents. He was raised in his maternal grandfather’s home and his education was completed there. When he was only a little boy, he enjoyed the good fortune of meeting the devotees of Sri Gauranga.

The book that he composed, Caitanya-mangala, was from the diary of Sri Murari Gupta. “Murari Gupta, who resides at Nadia, composed many beautiful verses about the life of Sri Gauranga. These include the youthful pastimes of Nimai, which Murari Gupta personally took part in, and His later pastime in Nilacala, after He accepted sannyasa, which were narrated by Sri Damodara Pandita.”

In his Caitanya Mangala, Srila Locana Dasa Thakura has written: “My hope of hopes is to be near the lotus feet of Sri Narahari Thakura, to serve and worship him with my very life. The cherished desire of the fallen Locana Dasa is to be allowed by the grace of Narahari to sing the glories of Sri Gauranga. My Lord is Sri Narahari Thakura and I am his servant. Bowing and praying before him I beg him to allow me his service. This is my only aspiration.”

Glories of Tulasi Maharani.

Tulasi is a plant most sacred to Krishna. Tulasi, also known as ‘holy basil’ is auspicious in all respects. She is a pure and great devotee of the Lord, and most dear to Lord Krishna. It is stated in the Brahma Vaivarta Purana that Tulasi, in her last birth was Vrinda devi married to an asura (a person with demonic qualities) named Jalandhar. To gain victory over Jalandhar, Lord Vishnu had persuaded Vrinda devi to give up devotion towards her husband. After being pleased with her, Lord Vishnu blessed her as Tulasi; one who can be worshipped by people all over the universe.
Vrinda devi has thus appeared in this material world as a plant, Tulasi. She was born on the lunar day of the full moon in the month of Karthik. Simply by seeing, simply by touching, simply by praying to, simply by bowing before, simply by sowing, or simply by hearing about the Tulasi plant, auspiciousness is awakened.
Tulasi Maharani is the expansion of Vrinda devi in the form of a tree. Of all trees and plants, Tulasi is the topmost; she is auspicious, the fulfiller of all desires, most dear to Lord Krishna and the topmost devotee. Just as the Ganges river purifies all who bathe in it, Tulasi purifies the three worlds. For the welfare of all conditioned souls, Lord Krishna brought Vrinda devi in her form of a tree (Tulasi) and planted her in the material world. Vrinda devi is a goddess of Vrindavan, who has been given the role of arranging all of Lord Krishna and Srimati Radharani’s Vrindavana lilas (pastimes). Vrinda devi decides which flowers will bloom, which songs will be sung, which food will be served, which musical instruments will be played – she may be likened to a director or choreographer of Lord Krishna and Srimati Radharani’s pastimes.
Tulasi is Krishna’s favourite plant. Every part of the Tulasi plant, the leaves, flowers, fruits, roots, twigs, skin and even the soil around the plant is holy. In the Brahma Vaivarta Purana, it is stated that Lord Hari is not so pleased after being bathed with thousands of pots filled with celestial nectar, as He is when a single leaf of Tulasi is offered to Him. Thus, the Tulasi leaf is very dear to Lord Krishna and essential for worshipping Him.
In Kali Yuga, when Tulasi is planted, glorified, bathed, given in charity, prayed to, remembered, offered to Lord Krishna, and also when the remnants of her offered leaves are eaten, all sins are burnt away. Tulasi Maharani is not only the remover of sins, but also the giver of spiritual qualities. With her blessings, one can cultivate bhakti and make steady progress in devotional service. Tulasi Maharani increases our service attitude and gives us increased attachment for devotional service.
Below are examples of the glories of Tulasi Maharani from the various Puranas:
“To bring auspiciousness to the world and to benefit the gopis, Lord Krishna planted you and cared for you on the shore of the Gomati River.”
“Upon touching her, impurities are liberated. Upon offering prayers to her, all diseases are cast out. Upon watering her, all fears come to an end. Upon being in her proximity, devotion for Krishna is implanted in the heart. Upon casting oneself at her feet, the fruit of the greatest liberation is attained.”
“If one holds on his/her head the water that has washed a Tulasi leaf, one attains the result of bathing in the Ganges or the result of giving ten cows in charity.”
“The chaste Tulasi, the best of flowers, adorable and lovely, destroys the fuel of sins like a flame of fire. O Muni, she is most sacred of all goddesses.
“Whoever gives Tulasi leaves cut in reverence to Vishnu in the month of Karthik will reap the fruits secured by the gift of ten million cows.”
“O Narada, whatever merit one receives by offering all kinds of flowers and leaves to Lord Hari, that same merit one can attain by just offering one Tulasi leaf alone to Him.”
“By offering flowers equipped with pearls and gold, one does not even achieve one sixteenth of the merit which can be achieved by offering just one Tulasi leaf to Lord Hari.”
“In any house where Tulasi Maharani is very carefully protected and watered, the messengers of Yamaraja give up that house from a distance.”
“When food is offered to Lord Hari with a Tulasi leaf in it, if anybody eats that piece of Tulasi, one receives liberations from sins.”
“Any person who makes a beautiful japamala (chanting beads) or kuntimala (neck beads) out of Tulasi wood and uses them to worship Lord Krishna, his/her activities have unlimited results.”
“Just by looking at Tulasi, all sins are removed. By planting, one achieves nearness to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. If someone offers Tulasi at the lotus feet of Lord Krishna, she awards liberation and devotion to Him. Therefore, I pay my humble obeisances to such a wonderful Tulasi Maharani.”
Vrinda devi has appeared in this world as the plant Tulasi to give us a chance to serve her and to beg her to bestow upon us her greatest boon – love of Lord Krishna and the privilege of devotional service to Him. Tulasi Maharani has been blessed with the benediction of always being present at the Lord’s lotus feet and on all preparations offered to Him. One who worships Lord Krishna daily with Tulasi leaves attains the results of all kinds of austerities, charities and fire sacrifices. One who sits near Tulasi Maharani and chants/recites prayers, attains results much faster. By worshipping her faithfully, one can get free from material miseries. Caring for the Tulasi plant is purifying and very pleasing to Lord Krishna. Thus, it is important to look after her with great care. Tulasi’s health depends on a sufficient and adequate supply of the following: light, water, temperature, humidity, soil, nutrients, pot size, staying pest and disease free and lots of loving devotion.
ISKCON temples have a formal worship program outlined by His Divine Grace A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada beginning by offering obeisances to Tulasi Maharani and chanting the Tulasi – Pranama mantra three times; followed by singing of the Sri Tulasi- Puja Kirtana; and then circumambulating Tulasi whilst chanting the Sri Tulasi Pradaksina mantra. When a person circumambulates Tulasi Maharani, all the sins one may have committed are destroyed at every step, even the sin of killing a brahmana.

All parts of the Tulasi tree are purifying – the leaf, manjari, seed, roots, branches, bark and even the clay/mud of it. Mud made out from the root of Tulasi can be used to make tilak. After Tulasi leaves her body, her wood can be used to carve japamala (chanting beads) or kuntimala (neck beads). Vaishnava devotees wear tilak and neck beads made from the wood of Tulasi to show their devotion to Lord Krishna.
Yamaraja, the lord of death, has ordered the yamadutas, (fearful looking messengers of Yamaraja who come to drag people to their next bodies and/or a hellish planet depending on how much bad karma one has to pay), to not touch anyone wearing Tulasi neck beads and tilak, no matter what their karma is. Instead, the vishnudutas come to es**rt them to take them to the womb of their next mother so that they can continue their spiritual journey right where they left off. Tulasi neck beads also give protection from bad dreams, accidents, ghosts/evil spirits, and attacks from weapons. Sri Hari resides in the body of a person whose neck and arms are decorated with ornaments made of Tulasi.
The acharyas state that Lord Krishna worships Tulasi Maharani with her eight names on her Appearance Day (in the month of Karthik). The eight names of Tulasi Maharani are:
Vrindavani – one who first manifested in Vrindavan
Vrinda – the goddess of all plants and trees
Visvapujita – one whom the whole world and the whole universe worships
Puspasara – the topmost of all flowers, without whom Krishna does not like to look upon other flowers
Nandini – one who gives happiness to everyone
Krishna-jivani – the life of Lord Krishna
Visva-pavani – one who purifies the universe
Tulasi – one who has no comparison
Tulasi Maharani never goes back to Godhead, she is always with Godhead. Thus, she has appeared in this world to render service to Krishna by giving us a chance to serve her. Hence, devotees offer obeisances to Tulasi Maharani and look after her carefully to increase their devotion for Lord Krishna. Chant the Hare Krishna Maha-mantra every day and render service to the Tulasi plant by planting, watering, protecting, maintaining, circumambulating, seeing, bowing down to, praying to or glorifying Tulasi Maharani. In this way, be sheltered at the lotus feet of Lord Krishna eternally.
